  1. I'm sure the space force will deal with them. You think Republicans hate immigrants now? Just wait until you hear them talk about those illegal aliens.
  2. You should have. I engage occasionally on egregious topics like that.
  3. I agree. Those numbers are pretty dramatic in my mind. Over 10% losses in membership in about 20 years is a lot. Plus, these numbers are independent of people moving... since they aren't only talking about rural churches. This is membership nation wide and state wide. I consider religion as something passed down through generations, and the importance of church seems to be diminishing. People are more connected with the internet and finding sermons or podcasts they relate to is so easy. My wife listened to all of Rob bell's podcasts, and finds his teaching much better than our rural hard social conservative pastors in Iowa.
  4. No possible way he wrote that tweet on his own. He wouldn't be tweeting about it if he wasn't bothered that people know when he writes them and when he doesn't. Maybe Hannity helped him worth that message... On a unrelated note, CNN is saying Pruitt wants to be attorney general. There isn't a more loathsome human that could possibly occupy that position than him. I have a hard time seeing him ever getting confirmed, but it wouldn't be far fetched to guess he'd try to end the Russia investigation. I almost hope it happens, just to see the fall out. Our democracy is already in jeopardy though, and this would only make it worse.
  5. Is not all democrats fault, but they have to be the ones to fix it. The GOP has lost all my hope for rationalization. I would love to see them fix themselves, but it is impossible. They'd have to backtrack on years of lies, manipulation, pandering, and fear mongering. That isn't going to happen. They are having success doing things they way they have been. They are entrenched into this for the foreseeable future. A moderate overthrowing Trump in 2020 is the best chance we'd have, but this mentality runs so deep it will take a long time to fix it.
  6. Fight it, but don't die on it. This is a game of chess. Move a rook you know will be taken in order to take a better piece. There has to be push back and pressure, just not going all in on this. McConnell went all in and won in 2016, but he got lucky. I define identity politics as divisive topics that split our country. Democrats shouldn't run, just not make them a litmus test in red districts. Democrats have to widen the party in some districts to win. Look at Doug Jones as the perfect example of who to run in red states. Let representatives of liberal areas carry that baton.
  7. That's just it... They need to avoid identity politics and focus on ones that impact daily lives. There are 'people' that only care about some of these topics, but most aren't passionate. Talk around the subject and lead the conversation. Don't ever engage in identity politics. Let the liberal areas talk about it and allow members to vote against policies their constituents will disagree with. Nominate candidates that will win, not those that follow Nancy Pelosi. Elect a party leader from the middle of the country like Tom Ryan. Pretty simple. Also, we'll never end up like turkey. We'd have another civil war before it got that bad. I don't think we'll end up like Nazi Germany either. We are too big to fail. I think.
  8. I agree with the idea of a backlash. Liberals, democrats, and moderates are more engaged and passionate than I've ever seen. The backlash against Bush, the Iraq war, and the housing crises led to Obama and democrats sweeping 2008. But electing a black man, complacency and targeting a vulnerable base led to republicans taking the midterm... and taking their game down to a new low in American politics. However, the are now sliding down the slope, with little chance of slowing down. Our country isn't completely ignorant, and there are enough to push back. This behavior has turned purple voters into blue, and red into purple. There will always remain a good portion of the population easily manipulated, a portion that directly benefits from this policy and those that staked their flag and refuse to listen to anything else. They are not the majority. I'm willing to bet right now that trump losses by more than 5 million votes next election. Damage will have been done, but can be repaired.
  9. At what point will the escalation stop? Continuing to fight dirtier and dirtier will destroy our nation the same way or worse than a corrupt party will. That isn't the answer. Education is a huge factor right now. The demographic supporting these policies are widely known. The millennial generation will be a huge factor very soon. As the baby boomers die off, their (our) voting influence will be magnified. Millennials in general have fled the Republican party. All we know is Clinton, Bush and Obama. I voted for Bush in 2004, but have watched the party of Bush dissolve into a religious, fascist, nationalist party of fear and hypocrisy. I, and many more, will have nothing to do with them for a long time. It is amazing how much damage this presidency is doing, but hope is not lost. The Jedi wouldn't behave like the Sith, so neither should the democrats. Trump will be a 1 term president, and hopefully the country can be repaired.
  10. It would be one thing to shut down the government one time with this method. They could use it to stump about money in politics and begin painting the GOP as strings fat cats pull. That could be effective. But, a constant stunt like that wouldn't go over well. I agree with Levi, that if you can't beat them you don't join them. You need to just do everything else better and change what you've been doing. The game is being manipulated right now. I fear the erosion of our country happening. All is not lost, but hope is grim right now.
  11. The democrats better find a way to take control of the Senate to limit the damage. If they control it, Trump will be pushed into nominating a moderate. Stay positive... which leads me into the next paragraph. This is far worse a presidency than I was expecting.
  12. That is taking trolling to an entire new level. I shared on Facebook. Well done to whoever pulled it off.
  13. Unbelievable. The court ruled Trump's comments could not be used to discern his motives. I feel like I live in an eastern European country right now. If this last election doesn't wake people up and show that they have to vote, I'm not sure what will.
  14. You crack me up. You do realize what you just did right?
  15. Anyone watch that comeback by Germany today? Fun game to watch. I really enjoy the world cup games. Germany definitely deserved that win.
  16. I don't really support this behavior by the restaurant. As much disdain I have for that woman, refusing service is not the right way to go about it. In the other hand, shaming the **** out of someone in public is perfectly justified.
  17. Strange that you came up with that conclusion from my post. Also, you can have both, they are not mutually exclusive. America was founded on open borders, I guess I don't understand why there are so many nationalists. My family all came over in the early 1900s. Nationalism is exactly how the Nazis came to power in Germany. Concentration camps of Jews were justified because they were.... infesting.... the country. I'm not saying let anybody in, I'm saying it's a completely asinine to tell these immigrants to "do it the right way," and the crossing the border is a criminal offense worthy of jail. These people aren't criminals. This isn't about saving these kids. Come on man. Trump has explicitly said multiple times he doesn't want these kids coming into our country at all. There has to be something more we can do to stabilize those countries. That is the ultimate problem, not the innocent people fleeing violence. I'd rather we try to stabilize this region than Syria or Pakistan. Unfortunately, the oil companies don't make money in Central America, and they the bills...
  18. I appreciate that want people to come here legally. Problem is, it isn't a viable option. If you were told your family needs to pay money to a drug lord or else get chopped up into pieces and you don't have the money.... you run. I don't believe for a second that the trek here is more dangerous than staying put in some areas. Also, let's make it easier and faster for these people to come over. Cut the red tape. Expedite the process.
  19. Let me get this straight.... Your entire argument that we're doing the right thing arresting people rests on the assumption that some unquantified portion of these people are human trafficking? Are you serious? I didn't mention the conditions, I'm sure they ****ing suck. I'm sure we are providing the basic necessities of life and that's about it. You think everyone was looking the other way when Obama was in office? They weren't, that is why there are pictures from then. The difference is, there was no zero tolerance policy. Obama deported more immigrants than any president before him. You think he was easy on immigrants? Give me a break. He just wasn't heartless. That is our policy now. It with the brown, unless they have lots of money, more white to purify the country.
  20. I missed a lot of this discussion. I'm really struggling to see how people in this country justified ripping kids away from their parents. 55% of republicans agreed with this policy. The comparisons to concentration camps are valid... And they are being supported by a segment of the population that hate people kneeling for the national anthem. Sure, there was an executive order signed. There is no plan to bring these families together again, and in some cases they might not ever be. Attempting to justify this, should make you reevaluate your morals, how you view the worth of others, and what the motivations are for why you feel the way you do. The entire world was disgusted with this policy, and likely, the way this administration conducts itself. Now, I'd like to address the people we're taking about. First of all, how dare anyone vilify or call these people liars. They are not criminals. In many cases they are from central America (not Mexico...), fleeing conditions many in this country couldn't imagine. You think the actual criminals are doing this? They wouldn't be very good criminals to walk right up to border Patrol and ask for asylum. Then, they are getting arrested and put in jail for a misdemeanor. Same charge as bedding drink in public or pretty theft. The self righteous attitude that they need to"do it the right way" is a cop out and cowardly response. Go ahead, blame the victims. They are easy targets and don't have any legs to stand on. That is exactly what kept slaves slaves. That is exactly what keeps making the 1% more wealthy. The reason why Ted Cruz wanted more judges, is to expedite these cases and allow people to get approved for asylum that deserve it. Trump **** on that idea, because that would allow more people in to the country. He doesn't want anyone to be allowed in except white people or the best and smartest brown people (that aren't Muslim).
  21. What moves and how did they help?
  22. They are early in the day because it's in Russia. Games Bounce between FS1 and fox.
  23. It's on fox...
  24. Soccer is growing on me. There international component is so amazing, and the world cup is a great example of this. Mexico already beat Germany. Russia has the easiest pool in the history of pools. It was announced the tournament is coming to the US Mexico and Canada in 2026... so hopefully we qualify.
  25. At this point, I've tired of paying attention. It is an assault on my values every day to listen to Trump. I'm so fed up with Republicans for doing his bidding, and Trump himself, that I just can't wait until November. Hopefully, or country comes to our sense.
