  1. I've been super impressed with the lack of mental errors and solid fundamentals on this team. Fleck is going to have problems keeping his coaches at Minnesota.
  2. Wisconsin is still a pretty good team. I will be thoroughly impressed if they can finish the year undefeated and play Ohio State. I don't think Iowa or Wisconsin are as good as Penn State, but they still need to be on their game. One thing will be sure, the players will be expecting to win.
  3. The last offensive series was terrible. Could have cost them the game. I'm over here rowing like a mf'er. This is fun.
  4. When does Tanner Morgan enter the Heisman race? That dude is the best Minnesota QB I've ever seen. Great decisions. Accurate. I guarantee this game turns some pro scouts heads.
  5. Wow. Winfield continually shows up in big spots.
  6. Gophers having trouble stopping the run so far. D line really getting owned.
  7. Gophers making this Penn State defense look like a joke.
  8. On the board! Perfect read. Looking good so far.
  9. Less than 24 hours away. So pumped for this game. I hope it is an awesome atmosphere, and Fleck has some big time recruits attending.
  10. I'm ok with the extension. Team looks better every week. PJ seems to be a guy that is committed to positive impacts on the lives of his athletes and those in the community. His shtick can cause people to roll their eyes, but I think he's authentic. He'll be able to recruit solid coaches and high level kids no matter where he is. Minnesota could do much worse than PJ. At the worst, he is Pat Fitzgerald, the best, Dabo Sweeney.
  11. Is it too early to talk about this game? If I was still in the twin cities I'd pony up the money to see it. Might be the only game in TCF history to be worth the price of admission.
  12. Succeed is relative. If the pitch is close to being ready, a guy with his arm talent can get pretty far while working on things. League average era was 4.5 in 2019, likely to go down next year. If he could maintain that level, I fully believe he belongs with the twins. Berrios was allowed a good leash when he came up, that is the best way to learn.
  13. Minor leagues are overrated. I fully believe MLB waste arms in the minors. Let talented kids learn in the big leagues if they're able. Only so much you can learn in the minors. Let the kid pitch, and send him down to work on specific things if he's unable to perform in the MLB. So many bad old pitchers are allowed to toil in this league, while young guys like Dobnak are constantly buried in the minors.
  14. I thought this was gong to be about Anthony LaPanta. I mean... Totino Grace kid, great smile, great hair; can't go wrong. Twins should absolutely go all in on that guy.
  15. Hey Travis, glad to have you. I went to Minnesota at the same time as Perkins and shared the locker room with the baseball guys. I had concussions my senior year of college. Without suffering from them, it is hard to understand what people go through. There is a lot more information on them now, so hopefully guys are better able to recover. What do you make of all the effort in advanced analytics being put toward the minor leagues? Would it have helped you? Did you get involved in the lawsuits on minor league pay? Have any opinions you're willing to share....
  16. Buxton absolutely earned a call up. I remember arguing this topic ad nauseam. He was healthy, was the day 1 starter, and was not brought back because of service time.... also was the day 1 starter in 2019. Health and performance had little to do withholding a promotion in September of 2018. Buxton and Bryant aren't identical cases, but they are similar. Bryant's case is going to be prescient for Buxton's. I have no remorse for the owners. They've gotten away with this for too long. I'm honestly surprised how many people aren't on the player's side.
  17. Bryant will almost certainly win his case, and Buxton will likely file too.... and win. It was stupid leaving him off the roster in September last year, and the Twins deserve whatever comes from it.
  18. Soo another route of a lower tier big ten team. Now 8-0 and hosting Penn State for a huge game next week. This will be the most meaningful game I've ever seen this program play. The close second is the epic 28 point fourth quarter collapse to Michigan in 2003. Have to give big props to PJ Fleck. This team looks better and better every week.
  19. The many big men that have played 3b and were forced to move to 1b. Sano is the most lean he's been since he was a teen. It has paid dividends for him, but isn't going to last. It is inevitable, not in a Thanos way. Who is the last big man that has actually improved defense at 3b after 25? Find one and I'll digress. Again... if anyone thinks he will move well enough to be a below average 3b... He'll be able to play 1b just as well. Move him an get someone that can actually add value defensively and save runs. Sano WILL NEVER be that guy. This shouldn't even be a debate.
  20. Can we get off this idea that Sano is going to "develop?" He isn't going to get better. Period. Period. Less bad /=/ better.... It means less bad. One more year with Cron at 1b, Sano at 3b, with young players getting MLB experience sounds perfect to me. I'm an advocate of moving Sano ASAP, but outside of Lewis, Twins don't have a good solution.
  21. Gophers start the game like they still have something to prove. I like it. Hope they win big.
  22. 8 million for the first half version of Cron is a steal, and potentially big trading chip if younger guys perform. Or, trade the younger guys for an ace and keep Cron if he's lighting it up. No reason to let players in their peak walk. If the ball is changed again next year, guys like Cron will still be hitting homers.
  23. I don't disagree with that. I do disagree the Rays organization is in a better position than the Twins (you didn't say that) and that the Rays have won anything. I don't care about winning playoff games. I care about winning playoff series.
