  1. So far a goof day for Hicks. He is really coming around. Put together a nice June and has a nice start to July.
  2. My theory and I stick to it is that a guy like Hamels is a better investment than 2 average guys at half the price. Think of it this way, if the Twins have Hamels, Diamond, Hendricks going into next year you have 3 solid pitchers (yes I am saying Hendricks is a solid pitcher). Add in that Baker or Liriano (hopefully both) will be kept going into next season and you only have one spot open. An ace like Hamels or Grienke makes any pitching staff look instantly better. Its really too bad Baker needed surgery, with him healthy this team could easily have 5+ more wins right now.
  3. Or just to RF for the Twins after they trade Span... just sayin.
  4. Call him up!!
  5. Are you suggesting they move their top talent more quickly through the system? I would be a big fan of it. I have a different idea of prospect development though. I think you need to consistently challenge players (that can handle it). As they develop specific skills they should be allowed to advance. Service time be damned. A productive MLB player is going to develop or isn't. Delmon Young was promoted aggressively and it wouldn't have mattered if he was held back because he is stubborn and just can't hit very well. Then you have Plouffe who possibly benefited from extra time to develop. Its possible he could have developed with the Twins, but we will never know. My point is every prospect should be treated differently.
  6. They have to evaluate where they feel Baker, Gibson and Wimmers are. Diamond and Hendriks should be in the rotation. Gibson could be up by June and Baker around the same time. Gibson and Baker aren't for sure things though. Wimmers is probably still too far away to guess an ETA. A decision has to be made about Liriano too, and soon. If they aren't going to sign him they need to trade him.
  7. Dozier has been an exception this year. I think its the right decision to keep him up though.
  8. First, he has 8 starts. Not to really split hairs, but 3 weeks then demotion followed by 3 weeks and a demotion is hardly giving him a chance. Plus, wins are hardly a gauge for a starting pitcher. He needs time to work through his lumps. I don't get why the Twins are so terrible with young players and expect them to produce right away or ship them back to Rochester.
  9. He would if they would keep him in MN long enough to do it. Just like any player, you have to let them get comfortable.
  10. He has certainly been struggling. I thought in May he had turned the corner and the Twins shouldn't trade him for anything less than a top 50 prospect. That has changed. It looks like Morneau just isn't comfortable right now. I'm not sure how to get him there other than letting him play through it.
  11. Parmelee had his swing messed with to make more consistent contact. He had been adjusting to that swing and thus lost some power. I don't think I'd go as far to say he wasn't good, rather he was a work in progress. He has always had very good power potential and a good eye, and now he is making consistent contact too.
  12. Benson is back! I hope he can start playing consistently now.
  13. There is a jump IMO between the levels. It is a small jump, probably the closest of all the levels. AAA is filled with players on the verge of being MLB players. Some are putting in their time until they get called up, some are stuck there, and some are organizational fillers. Like has been said, AAA is for refining or working on a specific skill for players.
  14. Bust. Hated the pick. Have enough toolsy OF in the system. Should have drafted a pitcher.
  15. Dozier has been putting up some nice games recently. Let him stay with it.
  16. I guess alum could be used as a way to describe him.
  17. I'd like to see him do it with runners on, but I guess you can't be picky....
  18. Just somebody that I think you'd get along with.
  19. Juan Castro and Luis Rivas knife fighting in the infield.
  20. Herpes.... in the 2nd year of marriage.
  21. stat is very statfreakesc... quoting your own post in succession.
  22. I'm also not a fan of this move at all. Hendriks has nothing to do in AAA unless it is something specific as said above. Still, I don't like it. I don't mind De Vries coming back up, I have a problem with Blackburn continuing to get starts. How many more does he need to have before the Twins pull the plug?
