  1. I'm basing this off what he is doing right now. MLB hitters should be able to square balls up better, but last night he had a 11-1 gb-fb ratio and 6 K's in 7 IP, not to mention 5 hits. Until teams adjust and get a good scouting report on him, I think he will surprise a lot of teams.
  2. Gibson has never been with the MLB. He has been elite for the past 2 months in AAA. I don't expect inconsistency at all. I expect a high 3 ERA with some great games. He actually has talent, and doesn't rely on smoke and mirrors. Albers might be more inconsistent, but would more than likely provide more than what Twins starters have shown so far.
  3. Since Gibson threw 7 scoreless, now his consistency is all screwed up. Last time he threw 6 IP with 3 ER, then it was 7 IP and 1 ER and 6 IP and 2 ER and 6 IP and 6 ER! OMG!!! Why can't he just have the same IP and the amount of ER every start? I can't take the up and down. Do we expect no runs or 3 runs!?! Will he go 6 IP or 7 IP!?? This is too much!
  4. Surprised? Yes. Unfortunately, there is no way they hover this close to 500 going forward. The starting pitching has been pretty good the last month, this most certainly wont last. Walters, Deduno, and Correia are all due for regressions. Correia will stick in the low 4 ERA, which is great and makes him a great signing IMO. Walters and Deduno are playing with fire right now. Walters: 3.23 ERA with a WHIP of 1.6 (!). His K/9 is 5.28. Hitters have an .833 OPS against him right now. What is saving him? He is only allowing a 6% HR/FB ratio which is half his career norm and has a 29% double play rate (holy **** that is high). There is absolutely no chance he keeps this up much longer. I anticipate a 5+ ERA in the near future. Deduno: 3.26 ERA. His WHIP is alright at 1.35. What is weird is his K/9 is low at 4.45. Last season it was 6.5. His BB/9 is also down at 3.3 last season it was 6. So while his K rate might increase, his walk rate has a good chance to increase too. The other out-lire is his HR/FB ratio. Right now it is sitting at 3% (holy **** low) last season it was 12.3%. The other peripherals look pretty good. When things normalize for him, I see a high 4 or low 5 ERA coming. It is great these guys have given the Twins some winnable games early and i'm sure they have given more than Terry Ryan ever imagined. He must have been banking on them making a few shaky starts and giving Gibson and Albers the call to replace them. Now, how can you demote guys that have looked great on the surface? Things will play themselves out and I still expect a win total in the low 70's.
  5. I'll give Diamond credit for being consistent, consistently bad. Diamond is 109 out 119 in ERA with over 60 IP and Pelfrey is 119 out of 119 in ERA with over 60 IP. At least Pelfrey is showing improvement though. His monthly ERA is dropping each month and he is pitching later into games. I'd rather see both Gibson and Albers at this point.
  6. Trading Plouffe makes no sense right now, or at all this season. 1. He hasn't established enough success to get any substantial talent back. 2. He is cheap and under team control without worry about FA or contracts. 3. He can play almost any position on the field and has done so when asked. 4. These types of players are the guys that compliment superstars like Mauer and Sano and help win championships. During the Twins good years, they didn't have anyone like this. If Plouffe does post an 800 OPS this season and has an 800 OPS going into the trade deadline next season I think his name might come up a little more. At this point it is all about weighing what you're giving up (a real 3b) to what you'd be getting (at this point unknown).
  7. Considering his height and build, I'd say he could gain some velocity as his body matures. I wouldn't expect it to jump to the mid 90's, but a few MPH is certainly possible.
  8. Kids get in trouble for smoking pot still? The same guy that suspended them probably smokes it himself.
  9. Call him up!! *too soon?
  10. That is encouraging. Whatever they are doing with May seems to be working right now.
  11. Gonsalves and Navaretto signed! Those are the two I was mostly worried about. Now they just need to get Stewart to sign and send him to CR!
  12. I like Plouffe and hope he can be apart of the Twins future. Even if Sano comes up at 3b, Plouffe has enough talent to move around to keep his bat in the line-up. It wouldn't be so bad to have a guy like Plouffe that can play multiple positions while put up about an 800 OPS. If the line-up is that good that the Twins can't find a full-time position for him I think it will be a good problem to have.
  13. I'm not past it. I'm still bitter and feel wronged (possible lawsuit?) that I have had to watch him this long. Just think of the player he could be if he didn't switch hit.... *can we get the JJ Hardy picture back for hijack? Or was that BYTO?
  14. The issue comes down to upside with Stewart vs. the field. Last season, I couldn't rate Buxton above guys like Arcia, Sano and Rosario after the seasons they had. I don't really think Meyer is in the same league as these guys. Now, Buxton has put some terrific results up this year, and has showed why he deserves recognition (still put Sano above him though). What sticks out is 2 plus-plus pitches, that is more plus-plus pitches than what was in the entire organization. With how aggressive the Twins have been lately with prospects, it might not take very long to get a look at him.
  15. I would love to buy a smaller SUV. I really like Jeep and their inline V6.... however we have our 3 child on the way. This is why we've been looking for the past couple of months what we want to buy. We have an Impala right now and it just wont be big enough. We might be able to skate by for a little while, but come winter when coats and extras are required it will be far too cramped. I'm a pretty outdoorsy guy, and believe I'd take advantage of getting a mid/large SUV. I'm going to have to test drive a bunch of them to figure out what I like, was just looking for some first-hand experience.
  16. You don't know that. The Twins wont promote him so it is impossible to know that. Potential is weighed heavily in prospect lists, that is the nature of the sport. Coming into the year I would have had Arcia as the number one prospect because of how well he performed at such a young age. The reason people are rating Buxton so high is because his ceiling right now is a HOF player, same can be said about Sano. Imagine 3 HOF players on the Twins at the same time! That assumes Mauer gets in, which I think he should. Gibson doesn't have a lot of projection left yet either. We know what he is, and his stuff looks to be better than a #3 pitcher, but not a #1.
  17. Nice job. Look forward to more first-hand encounters.
  18. Like less than a .179/.249/.326 slash line? Because that's all he really needs to replace. Granted, Hick's OPS has been about .700 the last couple of months but it was helped by 6 HR's in May and a .389 BABIP so far for June.
  19. Fixed it for you.
  20. This is a difficult topic. Perkins has been holding this pitching staff together for 2 years now. I would love to reward him for his hard work and perseverance with this organization by keeping him around. I'm not sure how many remember, but his relationship with the Twins was rocky at best, it seems they are in a good place now. Having went to college with him (sharing a locker room no less), he has always been a guy I pulled for. I'm sure most fans don't feel the same way about Perkins, but I think he is every part what makes the Twins special as Joe Mauer is. Tear drops aside (crocodile tears too), the Twins have to listen to any and all offers right now. More likely, a team is going to trade for Burton as he is very good and will cost less talent to acquire. If a team is willing to give up a top 50 SP, I think you have to trade him. These guys are professionals and understand. Plus, he'd be able to play for a contender and possibly close playoff games in his prime. As much as playing for the Twins is great, during the season he probably doesn't get a lot of time at home anyway. Side note, his house is cool as hell. Unless the Twins get blown away, I don't see them trading him. Burton is much more likely right now.
  21. As much as I'd love to make an elitist snarky post... I just can't bring myself to do it. You all much be pretty proud of your product and rightfully so. I mean, there is no question that my contribution is a large part of the success, but we'll just dismiss that right now and focus on TD.
  22. There are plenty of Asians that have been successful in the MLB. Nishioka is an example of someone that couldn't adjust. That isn't fair to dismiss an entire continent because one guy was terrible lol. My basis is entirely on what I could see. Maybe there is more to his game than that, but as has been proven, unconventional motions (batting or pitching) are rarely successful. You can name a bunch of them that stick out because it is so rare. I don't like Asian pitchers to begin with (you're very right Jeremy). I feel like their whole game will not translate to the MLB. The hitters are so good in the MLB that it takes more than craftiness to succeed.
  23. I want an SUV because I would use it for what it is made for; pulling trailers, going ice fishing, pulling boats, going camping, taking it to secluded fishing spots only accessible by dirt roads/trails, strapping a canoe/kayak on the top. I know minivans have come a long way, but I just trust an SUV in winter much more. The biggest problems for me are the gas mileage and limited trunk space. I figured out for every drop in gas mileage it will cost me about 11 dollars a month. Considering a minivan will only get in the low 20's anyway, the difference is going to be less than 100 dollars a month for me. However, we might actually go do more stuff since it would be a more comfortable ride so it might end up being that 100 dollars a month more in gas. I can live with that.
