  1. No, it does not give him an edge. If he were taking the LSAT then maybe it would, but we're not. His FB isn't going to be 1-2 mph faster, his slider isn't going to break any more, this drug is not a physical drug. Now, he might be able to remember specific game-plans or pitches batter missed or even how many outs there are. Just because you "feel" like superman, does not make you superman. Stimulants are for the brain, steroids are for the body. They are not, and do not do the same thing. I have a hard time believe adderall has played much into his season at all, unless he actually needs to use it.
  2. Hard not to put Adam Johnson #1 since he was a #1 pick that never did ****. This is a pretty short list IMO, you could have kept going pretty easily.
  3. I really wouldn't stick up for the Twins drafts birdwatcher. Prior to 2011, they were consistently rated as having poor drafts. Something changed in their drafting philosophy, because they changed from drafting safer picks to guys with high upside. Picking on the back end of the draft is only an excuse. Quality drafts include guys that can at least contribute in the MLB, and the Twins just haven't been very good at for a while.
  4. Bi-lateral thumb weakness.
  5. Rosario was taken in the 4th round. Maybe we shouldn't have drafted him? There is talented players later on in the draft, they just are not as abundant. Most of the top end talent is obviously taken right away, but kids develop differently and some are late bloomers. Baseball is great in that many late round drafts make it and contribute in the MLB, some even become Albert Pujols.
  6. I'm really just guessing here. I don't think I've seen this as a possibility anywhere, and I'm not sure why. Seems like drafts never go according to how everyone thinks they will so I went with a different angle.
  7. 1. Bryant- Think they are posturing right now and get a nice deal 2. Appel 3. Gray 4. Stewart- A lot depends on the Astros pick right now. 5. Moran 6. Ball 7. Shipley 8. McGuire 9. Stanek 10. Frazier bonus- Manaea to the Astros in their 2nd round pick. Put the money saved with Bryant into a verbal agreement before the draft. They could make out like bandits if this happens. 43. I'm going Boldt too. Think he's falling and the Twins will scoop him up with a nice offer.
  8. I'm still going to go Stewart. I'd rather have a guy that can be one of the best 20 pitchers in the game than a guy that might be one of the top 5 players at their position. Elite (not even Ace) pitchers are worth more than elite position players. Would the Dodgers trade Kershaw straight up for Mauer? I don't get the argument about when he arrives. The Twins top prospects are not going to be arriving in force until 2015 anyway, so I don't really see the big deal of waiting another year to see a potentially great pitcher. Also, the argument about a HS kid being a risk, they are no more risky than a college guy.
  9. If any of you knew how much I can't stand Led Zepplin.
  10. Is Carlos Gomez's twitter #SPEED!, #Go-Go, #exciting?
  11. Seth, did you get to see Rogers and Baxendale? I haven't watched any video of these two yet, and basically only have the misc. scouting reports that have come out and results to go by. How much likelihood do you see them making it to the MLB as starters? These college guys are tough to judge in the lower levels...
  12. One. Million. Dollars.... What? Ok, ok, One. Billion. Dollars.
  13. + O yes, I forget that no intelligent human being can possibly know anything about the human body other than a doctor. Good thing my kids call me "Dr. Daddy." Think that would qualify me for a spot on the Twins training staff? *putting my resume together
  14. So you're all taking that bet? Considering how cold its been this spring, and how he's been starting to make better and better contact. It is only a matter of time. Hitting 20 HR is much different than hitting 30 IMO. Players can get hot and reach 20, but to hit 30 takes a little more than a few hot streaks. I think it starts tonight. He takes Lohse deep and keeps him from beating all 30 teams.
  15. I'd still go Stewart. I haven't seen any reason to not take him other than his age. He might take a little longer to make it through the system than a college guy, but he has #1 upside that just isn't available very often. Stewart is only a little over a year younger than Sano. I doubt they would put him in Cedar Rapids right away, but if they allow him to see time there at the end of the season I don't think 2106 is too aggressive to see him (perhaps as a playoff push?). That is all in the ideal world.
  16. Wrong. His RBI pace will return to where it should be by the end of the year. He is relying on an unstably high BA w/ RISP. I do think he will start hitting HR's though. I'm still willing to bet he ends with more than 20.
  17. You have Felix Jorge really low IMO. I know he's still young and raw, but the kid has some nice upside. I hope he can pitch well enough to see Cedar Rapids this year... but that might be wishful thinking. I'd have him higher on my list based solely on upside.
  18. bi-lateral calf weakness is in the works right now.
  19. Maybe not the true definition of an Ace, but every draft has pitchers that become top of the rotation guys. To think only Appel and Gray will become these types of guys is naive. The key is being able to identify it. An argument can be made making that distinction is tricky. However, you can't win if you don't play. To draft an Ace, it has to be done in the 1st round. I'd rather have a chance at getting "that" guy than refuse to be in the mix by drafting a position player.
  20. They have to be betting on someone sliding to them. Maybe they will try to work a deal out prior to the draft and tell Manaea's agent they will give him a bunch of money. I could see it working out for them.
  21. Interesting that other than Mauer and Pierzynski are the only regular catchers to spend time in the MLB the Twins have drafted in at least the last 20 years. If you want to count Herrmann and LeCroy, I guess you could. Point being, I'm not very sold on their ability to correctly draft catchers. Mauer was a can't miss guy. Please, do anything but draft a catcher with this pick.
  22. What is the deal with this calf? This is the same thing he had in spring training, and early in the season. Why hasn't it been taken care of?
