  1. Like has already been pointed out, the fact Terry Ryan waited this long to put him on waivers is really unacceptable. One has to have some forethought to pull off good moves. This gives me little confidence that Terry Ryan is going to build a winner this time around.
  2. I have to think they will give Dozier another shot at SS. If this season is for real and he can make it work at SS, the Twins will be looking alright up the middle. Really, the only spot on the INF in question going forward would then be 1b, which has Harrison and Vargas coming.
  3. This is an area of talent acquisition that Terry Ryan does pretty well. I'm not really sure if that is a good thing... or a bad thing...
  4. Ahh yes, I remember his little streak.
  5. I only watched the last inning. I figured I'd get weird and check out the game thread. Needles to say, I wasn't disappointed.
  6. Are you suuuure? The debate might turn into how big they are, instead of how small... Think about that.
  7. Name a pitcher with at least 17.1 IP with a lower ERA! You can't.
  8. Shhhh, nobody was asking for preposterous statements.
  9. From now on, I'm expecting a complete game shutout from Albers every time. Anything less and he can just take his 0.00 ERA to Rochester to learn to command the mound.
  10. Heh, apparently I've been breaking a few of those lately...
  11. Guess you can't just really just jump into the middle of a game thread...
  12. Why is everyone quoting horrible song lyrics that make no sense?
  13. back to back to ba.. to back complete games! Just had to come on here to say this.
  14. I have to wonder if they will give Dozier another shot at SS when Rosario is ready. Hopefully the recent play is for real... he hasn't really showed any signs of slowing down.
  15. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that actually liked this trade. It was boneheaded on multiple levels.
  16. The fact that Buxton and Sano are consensus top 5 prospects in baseball that play more important and harder to field positions. If Sano played for the Marlins and not the Twins, he would be in the MLB right now too. Shoot, Buxton might even be up already if he played for the Marlins lol. Just because these two aren't in the MLB yet doesn't mean they are automatically inferior. I realize that Stanton has already excelled at this level. Buxton and Sano are unknown quantities right now, but I wouldn't trade either for anything other than an Ace pitcher right now.
  17. If there is one area I wouldn't knock too hard, is the signing of INTL FA. The Twins have really stepped up their game since the Bill Smith era. Not every year is going to have a Sano available. Before judging the signings maybe wait a few years to see how things go? Arcia, Sano, Polanco, Minier, Jorge, Thorpe... those are all guys that could be a big part of the future signed in the last several years. That is a lot of talent.
  18. There is a decent chance both Sano and Buxton end up better than Stanton. It is pretty easy to see Buxton being better considering he play a premium defensive position at a very high level along with a bat that is nothing to sneeze at. Sano might have more power and plays 3b. If Sano qualified for stat leaders (getting close) he would be 2nd in the EL in OPS with .960 and is killing it right now. If we were talking about the next Verlander here it would be a different argument.
  19. Every trade hypothesized is made immediately better by adding Duensing.
  20. Twins are in a perfect situation to land one of these Cubans. They have the money to spend and the talent coming up lines up pretty well with them. Worth a shot. I'd rather spend money on a guy like this than Morneau (as much as I like him).
  21. Berrios is starting to put together some better starts, hopefully he can keep the momentum going. If Sano keeps hitting, and Plouffe's OPS keeps dropping (.523 in July and .380 in August) the odds of seeing him keep getting higher and higher. *At least my hopes do, and there is nothing you can do about it
  22. No team in their right mind would have offered him an extension. He and his agent have to know this. His actual market price will dictate his contract. I hope he has a good enough relationship with the Twins to keep them in the loop. The last time this happened was Torri, and the Twins threw a low-ball offer at him and he didn't even look back on his was to LA. He could have been put on waivers as soon as the deadline passed. If the Twins had any sense, he would have pushed him threw right away. No reason to wait for him to go a tear and eventually get blocked from another team claiming him.
  23. The more he keeps producing, the more likely he is traded IMO. He was most likely put on waivers as soon as the deadline was past. Thus, he could have already cleared waivers and is free for the Twins to trade. I hope they took my advice and did just that. If he isn't traded, and goes through FA. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Twins make some kind of offer to him. Parmelee hasn't done much with his chances and Plouffe is on a horrible slide right now. The Twins could use a semblance of a bat in the line-up. His OPS is creeping toward .800 and 20 HR this season looks very possible.
  24. Who throws the better punch? Morneau Burton Torri Luis Rivas Lohse
  25. Let him stay in AA for the rest of the year. Allow adjustments to happen and try to finish the season strong. Depending on how Plouffe finishes the season, I could see him pushing (not actually making) for the 3b spot in 2014. If Plouffe fails he could be up as soon as May, if Plouffe performs the Twins will have a nice problem of a MLB star that is ready and a competent starter blocking him. He's still going to be getting to the MLB very quickly so allowing a nice adjustment period while advancing is perfectly acceptable.
