    Good for Vazquez. On the worst pitch he got, too. Watch the pitches in the zone, and swing at the one way out of the zone 0-2 and get RBI contact. Good job.

    Were you doing it on the phone? This site is so packed with adds that it can't even keep up on the phone. It's like wack a mole that never quits. Even with 1 gig/sec connection speed for me.

    And the man of glass hurts himself trying to steal a base today. Damn. And he was doubled up easily.

    Looking at what Sonny Gray is doing, it looks like they extended the wrong guy. Lopez is 41-41 career with about a 4 ERA. Pablo Day Lopez is what he is. The media hype is the problem. They wanted an ace so they manufactured one, and way too premature.

    And Funderburk immediately acknowledges the confidence in him with a 2 run dinger. Yikes. I just think he is too wild and out of control to be "part of the future". My bet is with Topa in, he is optioned, especially after tonight. And Topa is no sure thing once he is here, that is for sure. I'm smelling a Jorge Lopez odor. As for Bowman, I think it is too early in the season to cast off pitchers that have performed well so far for ones that still have options, at least for a month.

    ..... and that's the Red Sox, who is next on the schedule. (The White Sox had a 3 game winning streak coming in, too, though). And, the Red Sox have a winning record, which we are 7-13 against teams with (Red Sox 6-11). So for me, after what will be 10 games against losing record teams, it is no time to get cocky. But certainly to enjoy. Tomorrow we will see if either team still has an active notable winning streak going into the series.

    It was still scary. Mark my words. He will tank this season. And they will stick with him far too long. Not something I wish for, of course, but I have had a vision. 😇

    Amazing that players that make it to the show can make such bad mental errors, and over and over and over again.

    This is the SWR that is stacking up the poor stats in St Paul this year.

    First of all, Jeffers made a great play and the team got an out. A centerfielder would have caught that fly ball. Castro was lost. Not a particularly quick recovery. But seriously. The only redeeming thing about Correa's throw was it was a quick turn and part of an out at the plate. The throw was a 2 hopper that made Jeffers go up the line. This play was all Jeffers taking a poor throw and making a great play. Castro looked a little bit like Delmon Young trying to make a catch in the outfield, and his "out" eventually scored. Correa has made some great plays, for sure. This was not one of them, but the result was great thanks to Jeffers.

    I was afraid that Baldelli would go with Thielbar when Jax came in. Damn. I don't think I can watch. Talk about mistakes...... what a goofy use of his arms in the pen. Wish for luck.

    Funny thing about that last change up strike 3 by Jax. If it would had been hit out of the park he would have called it a mistake as he hung it right in the middle of the zone - couldn't have been more middle middle. As it was, he is thinking it was a great pitch.

    Love the tables/stat charts @mnfireman. Thanks for going to the effort to post them for all of us to see. The most important stat for relievers, imo, is inherited runs scored, and it is usually nowhere to be found in the tables. After all, that is what they are brought into the game for, relief, and not to let the runners score. Sure, it is not their personal earned run when they come in and immediately give up the hit that lets the runners score, but that is their main job, and the stat is most important to see if they can really provide relief.

    I think Thielbar is cooked. But he is going to cost us too many games before Baldelli quits going to him, I fear.

    How about that run differential, now! Out of the negative and into the positive. It's right up there in great importance.... like the all important (these days) exit velocity. Hey doomsday guys! How you feeling now?

    "According to MLB rules, base runners, except for the catcher, can wear a leather glove that is no more than 13 inches long, measured from the top to the bottom, and no more than 8 inches wide, measured from the base of the thumb crotch to the outer edge of the mitt. The glove should not measure more than 13 inches from the tip of any one of the four fingers, through the ball pocket, to the bottom edge or heel of the glove. " That doesn't seem to be the answer, though......

    Is there a rule about how long a base runners glove can be? Why not wear one that is a foot long? Or more. Bigger bases, longer base running hand protectors? Buxton's must give him about 4 inches.

    Monday taking (probably) a 7 game win streak into Chicago to face the White Sox, who have their own 3 game win steak since they left Minnesota..... against the Rays. Who would have thunk it?
