  1. Very apparent for some time now that the Jax part of the plan is flawed. If Duran pitches today, it will be the first time in 5 days. On another note, Larnach is sure deficient in the field. That second run double as it turned out.... weak effort to get to the ball, misplayed bounce off the fence, and horrible throw to miss Correa as a relay, and Farmer took forever to get it to the catcher. Also, these outfield guys and relay throws a not even close to the plate these days. 5-15 feet off line. Do they practice these throws ever?
  2. Another starter was Jax'd! I guess that is better than being Pagan'd. Management loves the predictive stats, and loves to quote them as reasons to spend on them and use them, even if they consistently don't perform when the heat is on. Don't ya love the mantra of "the advanced stats say that it will take care of itself, and they are really better than how they perform." It is just such a shame when you have starters performing, the bats don't, or the pen becomes a blowpen instead of a bullpen. I so hate games ending on a called third strike, especially with an 0-2 count when one swing can tie the game.
  3. No. We should always trade away our best relievers and just dumpster dive for replacements and hope for the best.
  4. Easy Fix. Every learns to bunt. Bunt well with the bases loaded and no outs - score a run and give up an out at first. Bunt well. Buxton probably is safe at first. At least you get a run.
  5. Pagan, Lopez, and Duran had a day off yesterday. Of the three, Pagan had 41 pitches thrown the last 3 days, Lopez 35, and Duran 18. Sometimes you need to bring in your best pitcher before the 9th. Pagan did have a couple perfect pitches called balls though (1 and 4) to Heyward. The pitches a pitcher deserves most. The perfectly placed strike. Barely a strike. And he got screwed by the inadequate plate ump. The theme of the series. Heyward struck out looking on the 4th pitch with an acurate system to call balls and strikes.
  6. But he is a vet and has that great baseball IQ and knows how to get ready for the season. Baldelli keeps telling us that.
  7. Wasted ink over and over for Pagan. Never should have been resigned. But yet, people waste time advocating for it. Take that stuff and ................ Baldelli just has to go to Pagan. Pagan, Lopez, and Duran had a day off yesterday. Of the three, Pagan had 41 pitches thrown the last 3 days, Lopez 35, and Duran 18. Did he not see De Leon strike Betts and Freeman out on 6 pitches? You need 7 outs with the one run lead. And there is a day off tomorrow. And Baldelli choses the worst pitcher of the bunch with the most pitches (more than double Duran's) to hold the lead with 2 on. Gordon wasn't hurt when he lazily let that ball drop for a triple, was he? La de da maybe I will get there nope I guess not where did it go anyway.......
  8. Keep digging and cherry picking. I know where to find the game logs. I used them. You asked me to define "bad" and I gave you what you wanted. Ha. I guess it depends on which game pitching against them. The three or the 6 so far this season. Three of them were awful. Like I said and will repeat, he is a valuable member of the staff........ but color me not that enamored, and not thinking he is the best we have.
  9. We now lead MLB in Strikeouts! On all fronts. Hitters and Pitchers. Hitters tied for the lead at 399 (in 1418 ABs, 1596 PAs), and Pitchers with 415.
  10. The the 3 bad starts, 14.2 innings, 16 earned. That is an ERA of 9.82 for those three starts. It doesn't matter what the run support is, but if you like, you can handle that part. (I don't know how to - would it be 8 runs last night for the game? Or just while he was in the game? His performance is independent of run support, regardless). We are talking his performance. Those 3 are bad in any book, I would think. Combined of all starts this year, he is at 4.00 ERA. Pretty much where his career ERA stands (3.94). You are your record, not an opinion, eh? He is a valuable member of the staff, but color me not that enamored, and not thinking he is the best we have. Good luck to us in the future. Lopez has 3 bad and 2 good starts since he signed his extension. Maybe even more luck for the future.
  11. So far he is bad 1/3 (3 out of 9 starts) of the time. That is earned and notable, and a good bit more often than “every now and then “ in my book.
  12. There was some great baseball tonight. A real heart breaker. 11 straight losses to the Dodgers. This one, on a walk off walk to a .125 hitter with a 3-2 count with the bases loaded on 2 IBBs and a free runner in the 12th. And Trace Thompson hasn't got a hit since April 17!
  13. Sorry. Not worth it. Be honest. Nothing would sway you anyway, eh? Not feeling disputatious this evening. Enjoy your opinion.
  14. Sure it's the worst. Say it enough times and you will believe it to be true. That's the way the world is working in the days of social media. Just say it over and over. Players are better (but they can't stay on the field). They need rest from playing baseball. And batting average is the worst offensive stat. Sure it is.
  15. Kershaw is pitching great. Plus, my bet is Syndergaard will not be pitching and it will be Gavin Stone. Blister will take him out even if he does try to start. Stone is a top prospect that got roughed up in his debut, but amazing how the Twins have made guys like this look good. The Twins pitchers do look to be the best bet...... on paper.
  16. Kinda wish they could save some of those runs for tomorrow and the next day. They sure looked good today. First in the Central, last in the East. Good thing we are in the Central. I hope they don't get the getaway blues and play to win all game tomorrow. Keep it up and the fans will come.
  17. Curious how Ryan is allowed to extend and when. Today, Against the Cubs, coming into the 6th with 88 pitches, ahead 7-0, and cruising, he is allowed to pitch the 6th, and stretch out, finishing the 6th with 102 pitches. Two starts ago, he was very economical and cruising against the White Sox, pitching a 1 hit shutout, and entered the 6th with only 69 pitches, and finished it with only 87. (He did have a 12 pitch walk to Anderson who was than doubled off in a DP, and had thrown 60 strikes in 87 pitches total). But it is a close game, with a brand new 1-0 lead, and he is not allowed to pitch the 7th with one less pitch thrown than he entered the 6th with today, even though he is throwing a one hit shutout! A "fresh" Jorge Lopez was put in the game instead, and he deGrom'd Ryan in only 8 pitches, and gave up the dinger to Jimenez after a single to Vaughn. So in the close game, he is not given the confidence of the bench, and pulled, throwing a one hitter with only 87 pitches, but with a comfortable lead and also cruising, he is extended at 88 and allowed to finish the 6th with 102. Which is great. But it makes his removal 2 starts ago even more curious. Doesn't make sense to me. The close game one-hitter, I give him the ball to start the next inning. He is my guy. He earned it. Maybe there is more to it. Maybe he said he was finished, I don't know. (Drop in velo concern against the Sox? Just looking at some fastballs here..... 91.1-92.6 on the severval Ryan threw to Anderson in the 6th. 1st inning: 92.9-95. 3rd inning 91.6-93.6. 5th inning he only threw 3 fast balls, 91.1, 91.2, and 91.3 and finished the inning with 69 pitches. Other than the amped up first, Ryan had a little more gas in the 6th than the 5th, about the same. And he was throwing a one-hitter...... only 2 walks.) But with what I do know, it would be my decision to let Ryan pitch. He deserved it. He certainly didn't deserve Lopez's so called relief.
  18. It was never the right trade, so it certainly can't still be the right trade.
  19. Correa doesn't get booed at Target for what he does deserve to like he does everywhere else (except Houston). That should be enough. After he doesn't even run out of the box even during the horrid slump? Wake up Carlos. The fans might find a breaking point, and bring up the past at home, too.
  20. I'll give you 2 then. If he doesn't play the position, there is no defense at all (4 & 5) and (1) he doesn't hit for average except for occassional streaks. Adjusted for the lack of players hitting for average across the board? I'll give it 1/2 if you like. #3 Run? Sure, but part of that is stealing bases, which he/they are afraid to let him do. OK. I'll go 1/2 for running around the bases and stretching singles into doubles. But he doesn't steal and isn't using any running to get to baseballs in the outfield. It is almost worse that he has developed 4 of them, (Or 4.5 if you like, and ignore his career average) and doesn't use 2 1/2 of them. I hope he starts to again. Surely his knee is getting stronger, and I read the plan was to use him at DH through May and then...... As we all know, when he is cooking, he is perhaps close to if not the best in MLB.
  21. "Buxton has been hitting the cover off the ball lately,"...... "While his numbers have been incredible...." 1 for his last 24 (it was a solo homer) in the last 7 games, (7 BBs and only 8 Ks at least). 0-20 in the last 6. I guess the 8 or so games before he got hot...... for about a week. 4 homers that 8 games. Even if you go the last 15 games and include that week, lately he is hitting .189. 5 homers in 15 games. Maybe you meant just that one long week of 8 games before as the "lately"?
  22. Because he was already hurt, and you only had him for a year and a half, just about all of which he spent not pitching for you. This was give up something for nothing.
