  1. On a MLB Network roundtable yesterday they were really high on Santana for whatever that's worth.
  2. Any proof that he took roids? Wonder why they haven't dropped Hughes from the 40 man, could only hope somebody claimed him.
  3. People have Vikings expectations? Odd you'd think they'd know better by now.
  4. It could work if you rotated Mauer and Santana at 1B and DH. Santana certainly is better than Grossman. Mauer could probably use more DH time as he gets older. Problem would be if Sano isn't ready to play in the field, move him back to RF? (joke). The Indians are kind of up against salary limits I've read so they may not have the money to re-sign him
  5. Kepler had an ops of .453 against LH pitching so Werth D could be a little sub-par and still be a big plus. If he is used right he could be worth it. Rosario isn't as bad but still not good. If not Werth somebody like him is a good idea.
  6. By most accounts Dozier is not an above average fielder but yet he wins. This award is a joke. Buxton is likely to really earn 8-10 of these things, his winning is not a joke.
  7. I'd like them to spend the money on JD Martinez who could replace both Grossman and Vargas. RF against LH pitching and DH the other days and he would really round out the lineup batting behind or in front of Sano, imo. Would be really strange to see them spend that kind of money when they are close.
  8. MYTH #1: The Twins will significantly increase payroll. I think you default to the "won't" until proven otherwise. MYTH #2: The Twins need to add an impact starting pitcher. I think nearly every team would like to add an impact starter. MYTH #3: Buxton's speed is real not "mythical".
  9. I would change this a little; 1. Can't have too many good pitchers. 2. Can't have too many good pitchers. 3. Can't have too many good pitchers. 4. Can't have too many good pitchers. 5. Can't have too many good pitchers.
  10. Time has proved it to be a BS award, no sense getting upset about more BS!
  11. I'd rather see them spend the money and maybe lose a draft pick than trade several prospects for pitching. However, I'd like them to spend what it takes to sign JD Martinez first then go after some mid range starting pitching.
  12. I wonder how much Alex Cobb will cost? He's decent and 2 yrs away from surgery and pitched well this year. Trade rumor has him getting something like Santana got. If he gets a QO his market could be real small. Anyone know what pick the Twins would give up for singing QO'd free agent?
  13. I think I'd trade Rosario for Archer, seems like an even up trade. Hard to tell what kind of prospect package it would take.
  14. I could see making a trade for Julio Teheran (his value is down) and taking Kemp as a salary dump from the Braves. Kemp is only owed about 15m hard to find a power type bat DH for that. Taking Kemp would likely mean Teheran would cost less in prospects. The hope, of course, would be getting Teheran out of the bandbox in Atl. would get him back to being a decent starter. Getting out of Atl might also mean Kemp stinks not sure it's worth the chance but if you make a trade for Kemp try to get some pitching with him.
  15. I doubt Joe makes the HOF.
  16. There is no reason, unless he gets no offers next winter, for him to take a 2-3 year deal with the Twins. This is his last chance to cash in. Most of these free agent deals make sense the first couple years and don't in the later years. So if the Twins give him a 5 year deal, which he'll likely want, expect the last couple years to be a bad deal. That's just the way it usually goes. IMO spend the money on some quality pitching next winter
  17. IMO no, he'll be 32 next year and with his all or nothing swing it doesn't take much decline to really fall off. He compares a lot with Dan Uggla with the bat and he fell off big after age 32. Might not happen but I think it's very likely.
  18. Wish I could remember what 52 felt like. Really I wish I could remember what yesterday felt like... Now I remember happy birthday old man river. Brian the brain is a lot like the food you eat, the older you get the mushier the food has to be...
  19. I've been in Hills a few times and they have a pond that probably seems like the ocean if you live in SW Minny. Rock county is one of four counties, in Minny, with no natural lakes. That makes any body of water a big deal, even having a bathtub is a big deal. Hills has never been hit by a hurricane, however.
  20. Nothing in the rule book about the bat crossing the front of the plate. Problem is a lot of people think there is. Correct, it is up to the umpire to decide if he "swung" or not. It's like a lot of calls in sports the judgement of the official. Offensive holding, pass interference, most BB fouls, most hockey penalties, judgement calls.
  21. Just stressing the point, the higher mound is a big deal. Santana also pitched in the roid era even if it was tailing off supposedly.
  22. This is apples and oranges. Koufax pitched off a 15" mound and prior to the dh. Santana pitched off a 10" mound and with the dh.
