    I've been in Hills a few times and they have a pond that probably seems like the ocean if you live in SW Minny. Rock county is one of four counties, in Minny, with no natural lakes. That makes any body of water a big deal, even having a bathtub is a big deal. Hills has never been hit by a hurricane, however.

    Nothing in the rule book about the bat crossing the front of the plate. Problem is a lot of people think there is. Correct, it is up to the umpire to decide if he "swung" or not. It's like a lot of calls in sports the judgement of the official. Offensive holding, pass interference, most BB fouls, most hockey penalties, judgement calls.

    Just stressing the point, the higher mound is a big deal. Santana also pitched in the roid era even if it was tailing off supposedly.

    This is apples and oranges. Koufax pitched off a 15" mound and prior to the dh. Santana pitched off a 10" mound and with the dh.

    I think they "went" for it in 2010 but of course that was Smith in charge. He also spent like a "drunken sailor"* which got him fired the next year. * compared to Ryan.

    "... Why not a Vargas or Park or Palka or anyone who might be able to drive a pitch..." I don't think a manager can use minor league players in a major league game, he can't call players up or make trades. I'm not defending Molitor, he has plenty of warts, but it's hard to make a silk purse out of pigs ear the front office has given him for a bench. That record graphic says it all. At best a mediocre team but they haven't been at their best for some time now.

    Dozier claims to be a leader and was a big complainer when they made the trades, he needs to take a long look in the mirror. I guess when he looks in the mirror his only thought is "nice hair". Two years ago when they thought they were in it Dozier was mia down the stretch, last year when it meant nothing he is great. Where has he been this year when they need his "leadership"? Mia again.
