  1. OK price for a young decent catcher.
  2. Trade Plouffe and a prospect to the Pads for Chase Headley. One year of Headley until Sano is ready and a draft pick when he leaves. Never happen, I'm being silly now! However I have little sense Plouffe will figure it out. He isn't good at anything except for about a 2 week period in 2012, when he was on fire, his power numbers aren't even very good.
  3. It's so odd that someone would exaggerate on here! First time I bet. As for Salty I think he'd be a good platoon partner for Pinto. Salty is a much better hitter LH and 100-110 games for Salty and 50-60 for Pinto seems like a great plan. Doumit can catch the other 2.
  4. IMO, if he makes the team better sign him. Pinto is not a sure thing and if turns out to be, two good catchers is a good thing not a problem. They have the money, at this point they haven't reached last years payroll. They can easily spend another 20-30m and stay under the 52%.
  5. With Morneau, Carroll, Blackburn and Pelfrey off the books they still haven't matched last years payroll. Still plenty of money and work to do! Don't stop now!
  6. "Nolasco's is much higher than both. " I'm not sure if you compared 1994 $ to 2014 $ it would be much higher at all. Average player salaries in 94 were about 1/3 what they are now.
  7. 13 yr they would be around 65m. They can do plenty yet!
  8. This is good! Keep up the good work and keep a sense of humor please. For those that seem to have so much time/want to complain about every thread they don't like, go up to the top right corner and click on the x.
  9. Dave is just grumpy because Mark DeRosa retired!
  10. It's always time to complain this is a baseball blog!
  11. My guess is that very few contract offers not made are accepted.
  12. With Morneau gone there are no Twins left that have played in a Twin playoff game win. Last win was in 04 and Blanco was the catcher, Joe was injured.
  13. Saw the title and thought it was an ad for a sperm bank!
  14. Trade all the guys we have that aren't very good, and we have plenty of those, for a bunch of guys that are good! Should be easy enough!
  15. This isn't getting fixed in one off season, sign anybody that makes the team better and Salty would make the team better. Still plenty of money left for pitching and any other good players he can find, the key word is good and not more aaaa type guys.
  16. Like a lot of stats if they help your opinion they mean something if they don't help they are meaningless.
  17. It would seem better to add the extra year to a pitcher like Garza or Nolasco guys that are around 30 rather than to a guy that is 37. Even if that means offering 5 to the younger guys instead of 3 to Arroyo. The odds of getting your money back out of a 37 year old don't seem good, imo.
  18. ......"Trust your scouts and get him." Are these the same scouts that brought us Nishi?
  19. He likely would have been our best (starting) pitcher last year. About on par with Corriea, 8m a year for 4 years, cost of pitching is going up and up. Good Terry!
  20. () Ryan was asked about his sales pitch in luring free agents.“We’ve got openings,” he said. “We’ve got a bunch of guys in pencil. We don’t have a lot of guys in ink here.” And how is that going? “Some people may not want to play in the state of Minnesota,” he said. “Pitchers should want to come here. We all know that. We’ve got some payroll. We’ve also got a pretty good reputation. We’ll take our chances.” This doesn't really come off as a great sales pitch. In the end I think it's more how much he'll pay and not where they play.
  21. Seems like a shortcut doesn't it?
  22. That should about wrap things up for TR this winter. He should move right into the rotation. This off season, so far, has nearly been as bad as the season was.
  23. I have no idea what it would take to sign any of these guys but I think most of that pile of cash will stay firmly stuck in Jim Pohlads back pocket. Prove me wrong please!
