  1. What's the rush anyways? I would rather see Vargas get some full time AB, or platoon with Arcia when he gets back and see what they can do with a little experience under their belt before forcing Sano into a new position just to get his bat in the lineup.
  2. My guesses would be.....he's a 7 year vet, they are paying him a decent salary, he was injured and has pitched in very situational times lately to the tune of 11 innings all year. My guess is Stauffer is off this roster before Duensing is.
  3. Calling up a guy who has never played in the OF to play RF in the majors solely to use his bat while meanwhile taking away his every day reps at 3B would be a mistake IMO.
  4. If management thinks that Sano's glove is good enough to stick at 3B, you trade Plouffe at some point. Now the timing is the real question. If they are in contention at the deadline, you obviously can't trade him then, but the off-season? Deadline next year?
  5. This is a good assessment. When Trevor is hitting well, he crushes. When he is not hitting well......he can't hit the way out of a paper bag. If the Twins intend to keep Sano at 3B, they have an interesting decision coming at the end of the season with Plouffe.
  6. I'm not saying toss aside....I'm saying if he doesn't pick it up with the bat over the summer, the decision on Sano might become a lot clearer.
  7. Trevor needs to start hitting again if we want to keep continuing to call him a Top 10 3B. With his June swoon he is down to .245/.315/.425.
  8. Well sure.....but what's their value right now outside of your Buxton-Sano? What kind of value are you going to get from a Pinto-Harrison-Kepler package right now? An 30 year old average hitting corner OF? An expensive set-up man? If they are good enough, they will force the issue. I see no reason why they should start trading off prospects because they are worried what might happen in the next 2 years if they all develop and need AB's. If that happens, it's not the worst problem to have.
  9. You are predicting in the future they will have to play musical chairs to give these guys AB's. It's not a problem right now though. Why start trading off the future before it's even a problem? If these guys prove to be blocked and are excelling in the minors their value will be there when it is a problem.
  10. Not 100 percent sure, but I am quite certain that the out at first is considered a force out, so it wouldn't matter if the runner from third crossed the plate first.
  11. Duensing could and will not ever come close to hitting 98 on the gun.
  12. C'mon Hughsie, let's see a little 2014 Hughes tonight, eh?
  13. While it sounds fun and dandy this year, how many people would have watched the AA club 5 years ago at Target Field?
  14. That's probably true. I would like to hear how he's doing behind the plate this year. If he can catch at least somewhat decently, woudln't he be a better as a bench bat and backup C than a guy like Hermann? If and when they decide he isn't going to be a catcher is when his future becomes nearly nil.
  15. Well that's very understandable and they should have a list and I am sure they do, but scouting players for the future is still very hit or miss. Which guys are they playing musical chairs with and not letting get consistent AB's?
  16. If that's the case, I hope they both rake and the team can take the benefit of selling one of them high rather than giving one away because in the future we might not have room for one.
  17. So how do you pick and choose? There needs to be a market for the players. Do you package let's say....Vargas, Kepler and Polanco if the return is a slightly above average corner OF bat? How about a middle of the road starter? An upgrade at SS and an above average reliever? The great thing about having such a talented system is any one of of the teams Top 15-20 prospects could very well be productive major league players. I would say very few systems could look at prospects that deep in their system and say that. I also think every player will get a chance to show he belongs. If a guy like Kepler gets moved up to AAA and throws up a .325/.410/.550 slash line, his value is going to go up.
  18. And if Arcia comes up and starts hitting HR from the left hand side and playing like he did in September of last year, do you still want to trade him?
  19. The problem is most prospects aren't worth much by themselves, in fact few are.
  20. It is too soon, especially considering out of the 4 you mentioned, the only one that has high value right now is Sano. At this point you would be selling low on any of Arcia, Vargas or Pinto. The problem is, when the time is right to trade them, they very well could be producing on a contending team.
  21. As much as I love Tulo....... He is owed a TON of money (Not counting this year, $94M over 5 years, with a 15M TO tacked on to the end) He likes to get injured. He has played one season in the last 5 where he has played more than 130 games. While he has put up big numbers....here are his numbers away from Colorado in his career: .275/.347/.470. None of that takes into consideration what it would even take to get a guy like Tulo, he would not be cheap prospect wise. I'm not even sure what a starting point would be.
  22. I will take a downgrade of Robinson to Hunter in the field if it means we can upgrade Robinson to Vargas in the lineup everyday. That trade off is very worth it IMO.
  23. Guys I don't expect to be with the 2016 team: SP Pelfrey MR Duensing MR Stauffer MR Thompson IF Nunez OF Robinson OF Shafer On the fence: MR Boyer, MR Fien, OF Hunter, C Hermann If Boyer continues to pitch like he has, I could see a 1 year to bring him back. If Fien can revert back to his 2013 ways and close the season the out, I can see him getting arbitration as Duensing did this year. I think a Hunter decision would come after the season and I think it depends on a few things. How Hicks, Rosario, Arcia and Vargas play the rest of the season and if Buxton is called up this season.
  24. Gibson should be very much part of the Twins future.
  25. Danny needs to regain whatever confidence he had at the plate last season. He attacked pitches last year. This year, it seems as almost every swing, no matter the count, is an 0-2 defensive swing. Not to mention him swinging at pitches out of the zone he shoudln't even be taking cuts at. I hope he can go to Rochester and find what he had going for him last season.
