  1. Sigh. I didn't advocate hitting anyone. Piching inside and brushing a guy back with a pitch or two are perfectly fine by me. If a pitch trails in and hits a batter.....then he gets 1st base. 1559 times as a batter been hit by a pitch this season, including 21 times where a guy has been hit more than once in the same game. How many ended in broken wrists? Can we not equate to a guy getting hit = broken wrist? Edit: Anthony Rizzo has been hit 30 times this year. 0 broken wrists.
  2. This spun out of control lol. Unwritten rules are there for every sport. They aren't going away. If in an NBA game a team is up 30 with 2 minutes left and they are still pressing and throwing up 3 pointers with their starters in, things are going to get testy. You see it in the NFL when a starting QB is still throwing in the 4th quarter when the team is up 4 touchdowns. Ultra competitive people don't like being shown up when they are already clearly beaten. Brushing a guy back once or twice next time he gets up is a lot different than throwing at a player's head. Anyone who thinks throwing at a player's head in any sort of retaliation is wrong and seen by everyone as an unwritten rule itself.
  3. No team has ever come back from 6 in the 9th to a win a game this year......oh wait...
  4. Jesus....imagine that storyline.
  5. Tie game in Oakland, A's have the bases loaded with 1 out in the 7th......
  6. I tend to agree, there were a lot of angry and disapproving posts when Tulo went to Toronto about how management is too timid, scared, gun shy, etc to make a big move. Fast forward and Tulo was vastly outplayed by Escobar since the deadline and has a lower SLG and OPS than Mauer since he joined Toronto. I know there's a good chance he improves going forward, but besides the big name....it has looked like a pretty good non-trade and something that belongs in topic.
  7. Not arguing your point, neither hit, but Hermann did throw out 7/17 which is 41%. Fryer only had one attempt against him all season.
  8. I wouldn't say that I expect the team to be markedly better, but there are a lot of good signs going forward. You have Sano, Rosario, Duffey and Buxton with some experience under their belts going into their 2nd seasons. They should have Santana pitched a full season. You have a very good pitcher in Berrios that should be with the Twins at some point and we very well might see Kepler who dominated AA this season. A bullpen with just Perkins, Jepsen and May is already better than what they started with this year. Detroit will not be as good and not to mention the Royals will lose Gordon and Cueto. I do think there was a luck factor this season, especially early in the year and sure the Twins might not be better next year, but overall I would take the squad going into next season, 10/10 times over the one they had going into this one. The only way I don't see them improving is if a combo of Dozier/Plouffe/Rosario/Sano regress heavily and injuries play a part. Then again, I might just be overly optimistic.
  9. Need Gibson to have a good outing and go at least 6 in the first game, keep that bullpen fresh Gibby!
  10. One of my closest friends uses pot to focus and keep calm and it's a much easier "fix" and has far fewer side effects than being on any ADD and ADHD medication. I would rather have a few hits than take advil for a headache any day of the week. Being someone who has had their fair share of pot in my life, people who haven't smoked or don't smoke often totally blow the "being stoned" and "high" out of proportion. For most people it takes a good amount to get a high, and not just a few puffs. I don't know if this comes from TV, movies or friends they have who smoke way too much. I have a lot of view on drug legalization, but in my mind, legalizing marijuana would benefit the nation ALOT more than it does criminalizing it as we do right now.
  11. No idea, but those are very specific numbers. I really like Eddie and he is having a great rookie campaign. Going forward though he is going to have to get more selective at the plate. Striking out 25% of the time while only walking 3.2% of the time, just won't cut it. There are 31 players in the majors this year with over 350 PA who strike out at a higher rate and none have as low of BB% and only 3 have a BB rate below 5%. Those are Chris Owings of Arizona, who has been awful offensively, Yosmany Tomas of Arizona who is also rookie and has been fairly awful as well and Jake Marisnick of Houston who is a defensive whiz. While you say...well he is only a rookie and he will improve.....his splits have actually been worse in the 2nd half. 1st half: 3.9 BB%, 22.9 K%. 2nd half: 2.5 BB% 27.0 K%. To make it even more inflated, 1/3 of his 2nd half walks have been intentional. I hope he can improve, but if he doesn't I really find it hard to imagine staying a productive player without any plate discipline.
  12. No offense but both hard working off season players you compared im to were Berrios and Shabazz who are 22 and 21 years old and still growing into those bodies. I'm not saying Joe shouldn't work out, I just think using those two don't really mean much.
  13. Holland supposedly has a pretty significant UCL tear which usually results in Tommy John surgery. I think it's a little bit of a different situation than Perkin's injuries.
  14. What's his OBP over that stretch? I would imagine it's around .400 or so? I don't know why everyone is surprised the OPS isn't higher, Joe hasn't increased his power numbers during the streak.
  15. Yeah, that's why I asked. You would think they would want to load up on as many position players as possible and leave off 3 starters or so. Carry 7-8 pitchers and the rest position players, or something along those lines.
  16. Can the playoff roster be changed after the 1 game playoff if they advanced?
  17. While true, I just don't see them trading Perkins and his somewhat team friendly contract at the deadline, then going out and adding an arm for a similar price in free agency.
  18. It could be argued that if they would have traded Perk at the deadline last season they might not be where they are right now without his stellar first half.
  19. Hrb! Thanks for including me in your top 5! And 4 votes! Woot! I don't think anyone can compete with RB though, he has a knack four this type of thing. The boys have more runs off of Kluber tonight than hits in the rest of his starts against us, great thing to come home and see!
  20. He is at 41. If he gets on tonight he will tie Bob Allison's team record at 42.....which he set in 1961. Pretty long stand record. Mauer is about the only Twin to hit Kluber this season, let's hope it continues.
  21. How about Ben Revere?
  22. I just don't see why. His value is so low right now there is really no reason to get rid of him this offseason.
  23. Lol I about jumped out of my seat when I logged on to Twitter and saw it on the top of my feed.
