  1. 3.82 Fip, 4.08 xFIP, 7.56 K/9 and 2.33 K/BB is very, very good results? Outside of his ERA I really see nothing that blows me off the page, especially pitching in the NL. Sano, Buxton or Berrios would be seemingly a steal. What am I missing? He looks like he's basically a little bit better Kyle Gibson, someone who a lot of people have thrown out in several trade scenerios this offseason.
  2. Honest question. Do you think if the Twins would have added any of these combos at the deadline that they would have been a lock for a playoff spot? Series win? World Series win? Out of all the players you named all of them are now free agents and that includes Cespedes mentioned earlier. Let's say they added Price and Zobrist at the deadline and the Twins won the WC and then lost out. Would it be worth right now to say, "Wow TR was aggressive!" and now be out the guys we traded for AND the prospects we traded for them? Perhaps I was in the camp that I thought the Twins were a decent team but not a true title contender this year and thought and still think a move like any of those would have been a mistake, but that's just my take.
  3. Did you like the Jepsen trade? Seems posts from Jepsen thread on trade deadline say the opposite. It's the same old song and dance. 1. TR makes move. 2. Blast the hell out of the front office, Get out the pitch forks, Fire Ryan, Fire Ryan, incompetence. 3. When trade doesn't work out, bring it up every argument about Ryan. Site 17 years, 1 playoff win. 4. Trade does work out, flip the script. I liked trade from the start. The season can't start soon enough and I was always a HIcks fan! I can't believe I spent the last hour reading all 19 pages of this thread.
  4. Well I was dead wrong in thinking they wouldn't trade Hicks. Great call OP. Now, let's hear about Murphy!
  5. Based on...
  6. Soooo what are you saying is......w/ Hermann, leverage, can get Lucroy for Duensing. w/o Herrmann, no leverage, Lucroy goes for Kepler, Stewert AND Duensing? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  7. Confirmed: Hermann starting catcher for NL All Stars next year.
  8. People need to get over the old timey thinking that a 1B HAS to hit a ton of HR and be a big slugger to be considered an asset. Sure, last year's Mauer should never ever cut it, but .300/.380/.410 would be a huge asset to this offense.
  9. Giving him some fly balls in batting practice is screwing with him, eh?
  10. He makes a good point about the rate of play going from High School to the the pro ranks. Playing twice a week to everyday will take a toll on people very differently. Makes looking purely at statistics for 1st and 2nd year players difficult. Looking forward to seeing see of those long bombs of his!
  11. I would agree. He's only 24, has shown big league success and is left handed. I still think he is on the ML roster on Opening Day, even with Park signing.
  12. The way the Twins keep things so tight and in house I just can't believe someone would be talking to Mackey about trading Hicks. I would consider it no more than a rumor started on these boards, but just how I see it.
  13. The problem is...no one is offering a top of the rotation arm for a 26 year old who may or may not have turned a corner. The more realistic deal, is a team offers a pair of 20 year old prospects for Hicks. IMO he has a lot more value playing for the Twins than shipping him off at this point.
  14. You could also be trading the future face of the franchise......it makes nearly zero sense to even think about trading Buxton IMO.
  15. I tried to use their 2016 year ages and i think I nailed them all.
  16. So you have an above average defensive 2B who hits for power and under a team friendly deal for 3 more years and is a year younger............but we want to trade him and then move the more expensive, less productive player to a new position..........how does that make any sense?
  17. He is not "moving" to the OF. He is getting some innings in LF. There is a big difference.
  18. I know you are fishing for someone to bite here but....... Buxton 22 Sano 23 Rosario 24 Hicks 26 May 26 Escobar 27 Gibson 28 Not to mention Kepler 23 and Berrios 22. That's your core.
  19. Best case scenerio they get a version of Chris Davis light paying a fraction of the contract and they get to keep their 1st round pick. Worst case scenario is he can't adjust, spends time between AAA-MLB and never really succeeds and they trade Vargas cheap and he goes on to be a 30-35 HR threat for the next decade with another team.
  20. So.....do we have an idea what kind of deal he will be offered? Is Kang's deal with Pittsburgh last year a baseline? Or does his success mean more?
  21. Molitor said they want to explore it a little. He also said he may never play an inning there. While I would rather see him getting reps at 3B, I think a lot of comments in this thread are incredibly over the top and you would think Molly came out and said that Sano will be the starting LF next season. A few games in winter ball in LF is not the end of the world.
  22. With Dozier you get production of a corner infielder at 2B. Over 70 XBH and he is signed to a very team friendly deal as well. Yes, he struck out too much and had a poor 2nd half, but that just isn't exactly replaceable....and not to mention he plays above average defensively. I do think Dozier is out of position in the lineup at leadoff, but I don't see how you can hold that against his value.
  23. Brewers fansite article on a Lucroy - Kepler swap. http://reviewingthebrew.com/2015/10/31/milwaukee-brewers-should-target-max-kepler-from-twins/
  24. As per MLB Trade Rumors he rejected a 5 year extension and is leaving the team. I gotta say this is a shocking one to me.
