  1. With Sano banged up and Trevor hitting under .200 in his last 130 AB, I don't mind them running Nunez out there. Slightly confused why he would be hitting in front of Esco though.
  2. Sandoval hit free agency when he was 27 and had career numbers of .294/.346/.465 with an OPS of .811 and 5 full seasons of having OPS+ of 110+. Trevor will be 29 this offseason with 2 years of team control and has career numbers of .244/.307/.418 with an OPS of .725 and 1 season of having an OPS+ of 110+. I'm not sure in which world are they that similiar. Before this year Sandoval was seemingly a fairly competent defender as well.
  3. Always where have you been looking? Sano - http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=69418426 Bux - http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=67296066 Perk - http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=67294336 Dozier - http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=67407516
  4. Royals should have the #1 seed locked up long before that series starts. Who knows how many starters the Twins will even see in that series, especially the final 2 games.
  5. With baseball metrics being used and such advanced stats that we are using now, I am really surprised that teams aren't moving to a "non-closer" type bullpen. I know when you have completely dominant arms it makes sense to have them in closer out games, but I'd rather see a team play matchups, splits, use your best RH option against their best right handed hitter in the 8th inning of a 1 run game, and so on.
  6. While I might not agree it was excellent like blair said, I won't agree that is was bad either.
  7. You are just going to negate anything Hunter did in May or June and just assume they would have done better? Without the insane May they had, you might not have seen Buxton or Sano as early as we did. Hunter is more than likely overpaid, but just the early season impact he had on this team, not to mention bridging a gap between when Hicks/Arcia was struggling and Buxton still in AA made the signing worthwhile. Hunter has been pretty bad after the break, you can't take away the impact he had early season though.
  8. Man this board melts down after a loss, I'm outta here til tomorrow.
  9. The Twins might not be in the position they are in without Hunter in the 1st half Stauffer pitched a grand total of 15 innings. Injuries have killed Nolasco, but it's not looking good for him A) The Twins didn't know about the PED issues, and He is in year 1 of his 4 year deal, there is a lot of that deal left to call it a terrible decision They traded for their current best reliever over the past month at the deadline Hughes extension not looking grand at the moment, but there's years left to quantify that Characterizing the "Berrios situation" a terrible decision is in the eye of the beholder. Despite alllll these terrible decisions, The Twins are 6 games over .500 and in the hunt for a playoff position
  10. Is anyone listening to the radio broadcast? They had the Secretary of the Navy in the booth for Eddie's HR, and he just stuttered out a........Wow. Fun to hear someone not use to seeing things like that from the booth.
  11. Yes, 2012 was Cabrera, Trout and Beltre in Miggy's triple crown year
  12. I am hoping they jump out to a lead and they don't need that AB so he can give that hammy a little rest. He's been moving awfully slow and gingerly these past few games.
  13. In 2006 the Twins didn't trade their top pitching prospect Garza for 30 year old 2 month rental Alfonso Soriano. I find this hardly even close to the same thing.
  14. Ian Kennedy just struck out his 12th batter for the Padres. Padres up on Rangers 3-2, going to the 8th. 6 outs until the Twins are back tied for the 2nd WC spot
  15. Holy, I totally meant to type Escobar 3rd and not Rosario. I like that lineup.
  16. It seemingly would make a lot more sense to bat Rosario 3rd with the way he has been hitting. Maybe it makes too much sense.
  17. According to Brooks Baseball pitch fx, Sale got 7 called strikes that were outside the zone.....which is crazy. I know it's not an exact science, but that's so much help.
  18. Regardless, it was a very poor comparison, especially for a guy who is lauded as knowledgeable as that. One of the best pitcher's in the league being shut down due to a strict innings limit when his team had a 6.5 game lead and were headed towards the best record in the league and a serious contender for a WS title. Or a guy who has never thrown a major league pitch, playing for a team who has an outside change at a one game playoff and simply a guess to what the innings limit for him might be.
  19. He is an established writer, but it was a pretty terrible comparison, IMO.
  20. Combine that with Plouffe hitting in front of him with his .190/.245/.368 slash since Aug 1....
