  1. So adding a AAA catcher is rebuilding or compete now sort of move?
  2. Be mindfull that the third and definately the fourth round of numbers would tend to higher due to facing the top of the order and probably missing the bottom. As it would appear that he averages about 6 IP/start, it would be more likely that if he were removed, it would be facing the top of the order. No I did not go back and look at any games..
  3. Taken over a period of time IP is an indication of a pretty darn good pitcher. Over the last three years, the 43 pitchers who have pitched 550 innings over that time are all quality pitchers. Masterson and a couple others could be debateable as quality, When you drop the IP on fangraphs to 450 innings, the list starts looking a lot worse.
  4. I thought he innings pitched idea was about quality of work of the pitcher. Sort of veered of the durability topic. My bad for misreading what was posted
  5. My bad, I thought people here were not supposed to count time injured against performance, see any Marcum thread
  6. Nice. Average in the year Pelfrey was injured.
  7. 1. Pot meet kettle on the condescending 2. Attack others on reading comprehension and yet somehow have missed that Nick has been ripping on the Twins all winter and could be considered a leader in the pessimists club? 3. Are you complaining like you are being victimized here on the board? LOL. You are one of a kind.
  8. You guys need to pitch your theories to Ventura for his television show (if it hasn't been cancelled).
  9. Not nit picking. but isn't hitting for more power hitting better?
  10. You might want to remember who said We're away from the scholarships," manager Ron Gardenhire said Friday. "No more scholarships because http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site569/2012/0302/20120302_075551_Hughesmug_300.jpgMinnesota Twins infielder Luke Hughes on Friday, March 2, 2012, at spring training in Florida. (Pioneer Press: John Shipley)we don't have anybody else. You earn it or you don't earn it. Scholarship program's out." the quote first of all. Then you might want to remember that it was about staying on the big league club, not the contract itself.
  11. Despite all of the advanced stats to describe individual performances, it is still a team game. Players have roles. Morneau's role is to drive in runs. If he does that, all the rest of the statistics you want to hear will happen.
  12. You"could care less" yet will not let the matter drop
  13. pot meets kettle once again
  14. Since everywhere else reports that Hernandez to a 175 million dollar contract I would really doubt your source, given your reporting of the Hernandez contract.
  15. Swarzak is the long man in the bullpen, Pressly sounds like a one inning guy. Big difference.
  16. I think the situations you mention is why they brought Steinbach on board.
  17. Does not hit home runs, Does not steal bases. Does not swing at 3-0 pitches. Did not date the hottest chick on the planet, Does not publicly say things like "jump on my back" and led the team to a World Series victory. Does try to sell you a Chevrolet, not a Cadillac
  18. Luke Bard was number 42 last year. If Bourn is signed for the 20-25 million then traded you are essentially paying 15 million in salary to a player you don't want for the chance to maybe get a decent prospect. Why not just buy the prospect?
  19. An ERA over 5 and a lob% closer to 60 in high A. A great fastball for speed, but something else isn't working.
  20. If that is what you want to see.
  21. Tampa Bay was the team talked about. The improve total strikeouts could be that Matt More was better at striking out batters than Wade Davis in a starting role. Price, Shields and Hellickson were all just a little better. You could say they are young pitchers getting smarter, better reputation. Wade Davis as a relieve threw the ball harder than he did as a starter thus getting more stikeouts than what replaced in the bullpen,
  22. He is not in Cespedes class as a player. Puig signed for 7/42 and started in the low minors. From what I read Diaz is a little more developed than that but not quite the hitter. It makes it hard to guess a number. Tulowitxki, Drew and Reyes are the last big shortstop contracts. Drew was only for a year. The rest of the above average shortstops are in the 5-6 million range except for Hardy. I don't think Diaz would project to JJ Hardy.
  23. If his ceiling is high enough, he would be a better value even at 4/20 than what the Twins could pick up in the free agent market. Compared to what the Twins have available the next two years, at 10 million it would be a steal. His OPS in the high level of cuban leagues was .845 for his career, so he might hit at the mlb level
