    A GM is as only as good as the material he is given to work with. It is hard to trade when you have so few tradable assets. The trades made this year are not going to be determinable if they are good or bad for a few years. The free agent argument is something I am not going to rehash. As Nick said, not everything is black or white.

    In the 2000 mlb draft first round there were only 3 players in the 40 pick first round that ended up very good players(Adrian Gonzales #1. Utley and Wainwright), 5 if you want to call Rocky Baldellli and Kelly Johnson very good players. Shows you how hard the job is

    The scouting director for the last 6 years has been Deron Johnson if you want to give credit to someone for finding the talent.

    Did you stop and figure out the flaw in his system of rating? The problem with DeVries is twofold. First and foremost is that he appears to be a 5 inning starter. Had he shown an ability to get into the seventh inning with consistency the angst of Correia might not have been had. The second problem is there were about four putrid start of the 16 he had. If he would have been a 23 year old rookie they could have been blown off as part of the learning curve. Pluses was the low babip, low walks, k/9 of 6 which made his numbers great for Thyrlos's formula

    Mauer has a no trade contract. You can blow all the air in the world about trading him but there is no report yet that says he even wants to move. To blast someone else for unreality in posting and come back with proposals that have no no basis in any reality should leave you open to criticism. Bogaerts by any account coming out of Boston is untouchable. Brock Holt was recently rated by Sickles as a C+ player. Igleseas couldn't hit mlb pitching last year in extended playing time. Where is the high ceiling.

    If you use Saunders numbers for last year and Thyrlos' magic formulas (The tenth inning stretch) you could predict Saunders to be a third starter quality pitcher. 2/15 for a third starter is not bad.

    2/14 too rich for you? That kind of thinking is why there were only the signings there were this past off season.

    Yes they are below that. That has been through several threads. About all I can say is I hope Morneau has a great year, Pelfrey and Harden come back strong and Ryan makes a trade for a middle infielder that works out like Shannon Stewart trade did.

    50% of revenue should be around a 110-120 million budget. Unless senility has caught up with me and I can no longer do math, there is only one miniscule possibilty that the Twins would ever have to worry about a second year to Saunders. The minuscule possibility is Ryan trading for 4 players before the start of the season who are eligible free agents at the end of the season. When the season ends, Ryan offers all of his free agents arbitrarion and they all accept.

    If Saunders has a 2/15 offer out there then either 1. his agent has an offer out there for one year that f they extended it to a 2 year deal at the same pay rate it would be a better deal 2. they think he has more value or 3. he does not want to go to the team with the two year offer.

    Help me out here. Athleticism isn't dependent on size. Reaction speed isn't dependent on size. The mechanics of throwing a ball isn't dependent on size. So what about size matters if you have the athleticism?

    Note that there were only 4 starters mentioned. It would be holding out too much hope that Harden will be all the way back. The other guy will probably be a pretty darn pitcher

    Nice changing what you say and want. Nowhere in the other thread did you say Mauer. Do you also want the Twins to have a $20 million payroll and Butera as the starting catcher? What happened to win as many games as you can? Lower minor leaguers in the Boston system ready to play this year? And you call what other people post Make-a-Wish. LOL

    On paper the staff that finished 2011 and was expected to pitch in 2012 is probably better than the 2013 staff on paper. Old age and injuries took a toll. I will never understand what happened to Liriano. As the season plays out the fans will learn what improvewments and return to health. A real optimist could think that at the end of the year, Worley, Diamond, Pelfrey and Gibson are pretty darn good pitchers. Harden could be a bonus. Hendricks a bonus

    Could it be that what was available on the free agent market was not much better than Floriman so there was no need to discuss bringing in competition?

    If all of your what ifs happen it will take quite a few more beers and brats for Leviathan to watch a game. Three days after the end of the season he would wind up in detox. With so many brats on board he would end up a contestant on the weight loss show.

    In May when Zach Wheeler is pitching lights out in AAA and Wilpon is still needing money Marcum will be available.

    I would think that I won't get too many boulders thrown at me for no proof but I think most on this board have an attachment for the aTwins. Many on this board have ideas and a plan about what should be done. All are fairly confident in their thinking. None of us have any power for those plans. TR had a plan when he took over. It worked fairly well even though it took a while. Is there a plan now? He isn't going to share. What players you target and why only gives information to others that they could use against him. If you project out what players might be available that you like it might be considered tampering. It might cause other teams to take a harder look. He does tell you which of his players he likes.
