  1. Oddly enough, I prefer how the Twins are actually playing.
  2. Hmm. I'm not sure about that, but he definitely should have rolled that R.
  3. Anyone else watching mlb.tv? They don't have the audio feed for me with the "special guest," so it sounds like long silences followed by Torii Hunter talking to himself.
  4. Who's this all-glove, no-bat shortstop we've picked up?
  5. What do you really think about the play, though?
  6. Gibson seems to collapse just when he's looking good. He lets the 7-8-9 hitters all get 2 out hits. Solution: never let Gibson get to 2 outs.
  7. Yeah, it's gotta be too early. Besides, even if he has to move off in a year or so, he'll still have at least a couple years in the minors where he can learn the outfield. Keep him around SS for long enough for internal scouts to get a real idea of his chops there.
  8. On the other hand, if the scouts think it's inevitable anyway, isn't it best to get him acclimated to the outfield as soon as possible? (This is assuming the truth of the condition, which I don't know.)
  9. Unless it's a discussion about Joe Mauer on this board. *ducks*
  10. I like that. I'm also a little interested in the complete absence of Trey Cabbage from any of these reports. He was picked the round after Blankenhorn, but I understood that he was generally projected to go higher than Blankenhorn was before that draft. Where'd he go? I guess I need to check out the adopt-a-prospect page, don't I?
  11. That's kind of how I read your post. Addison Russell was traded in the example transaction, and he was a top 10 prospect in all of baseball, at an up the middle position, in the high minors. I'm not saying we get the next Addison Russell, I'm just saying that if the guy is a very quality guy who's mostly ready to go, who cares too much if he's not a pitcher? If you end up with two guys like Nick Gordon, why don't you flip one in the offseason for the pitcher that you like? It's a damn good currency to have if you're on the pitching market.
  12. That's not really a bad thought, but how do you know for sure until you actually give it a shot? Fernando Romero, for example, is known to have really good stuff and is on the 40 man. Gibson can be sent down via an option, so it's not like you're losing him for an irreversible experiment. So what if Romero comes up and throws a couple of clunkers? Isn't it pretty safe to assume that you're likely to get a clunker out of Gibson these days too? His couple of passable starts he's had recently are well out of the norm compared to the rest of his year. Kyle Gibson is a replacement player. I think - barring the necessity to do a bunch of 40-man jiu-jitsu - that replacing him with another guy who might be a replacement player just has no real downside. The worst-case is what you already have. The best case is better.
  13. This is the key to the whole article. Personally, I find it less than likely that they make it through the Astros, Yankees, and Dodgers with a winning record.
  14. Do we know what's wrong with the Duff Man? I was pretty high on him coming into the year, but he has not rewarded my confidence. Any reason to think this is an anomaly?
  15. Hey! He's not that old! For someone who is in the hall of fame ....what's that? Oh.
  16. That makes way more sense to me. 1B for 1B. How would Granite even get playing time if he took Mauer's roster spot? There's no way I'm playing him over Kepler, Buxton, or Rosario.
  17. Man, my brother and I used to light so much **** on fire in the canyon in our backyard, it's amazing that we not only survived but that we didn't start a major brush fire. Good times.
  18. Why is this censored? What exactly is being attacked here?
  19. If there's one thing I don't like it's that he definitely gets wordy. But he does know what he's talking about, and some of the technical stuff is pretty interesting.
