  1. There is an old Latin saying: "If the wind will not serve, take to the oars." Your answer is gin, my friend.
  2. Man, I went to get beer and I missed the Sano bomb. On the bright side, I have beer.
  3. Asking the important questions. Where the hell is fangraphs on this!?
  4. There's a major street in Atlanta called Ponce de Leon. They pronounce it "ponss duh LEE-on." It's a bit maddening.
  5. It's nice that we're not the only team that can't score with the bases loaded.
  6. Mejia has got to cover. Another ongoing problem.
  7. How about after the all-star break. This really does seem like a problem.
  8. Gotta be honest. I didn't see that. For all the **** we give them, the umpires actually do a surprisingly good job for not having seven angles and various slow-mo speeds.
  9. He's on now, guys. Edit: They're both on.
  10. I know we shouldn't just scout stat lines, but ...
  11. I'm pretty much just down to baseball too, though I watch my college team's football games. I don't fanatically follow though. That was a conscious decision. As much as I might find it easier to talk to my wife's friends' husbands if I know all about the Vikings, and basketball (gross), and whatever else they spend their days on, I'm just not into it, and my time is valuable. I just can't seem to quit the Twins though. Then again, how could I make myself feel superior for my loyalty to a bad team through thick and thin if I gave up on them now?
  12. Actually they just kind of flipped the script. Belisle and Rogers both out of character tonight. Same result, different order.
  13. I'm sorry, but what the hell is happening with the bullpen? Who are these guys?
  14. Just who exactly is this "Buddy Boshers" fellow and what has he done with Buddy Boshers?
  15. Grossman won't get fooled again.
  16. Whoa. That is one hell of a sunset.
  17. This is always the right answer.
  18. Maybe useful to some here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/22455-huascar-ynoa-2016/ A little refresher course, though it's from last season.
  19. I was intrigued by Ynoa, but as others have said, you have to get to give. I acknowledge that Ynoa is very much a lottery ticket, so as much as I'd like to see him succeed, he's so far away you gotta think this probably doesn't come back to bite you.
  20. There's a Fall Out Boy song whose refrain goes: "I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday." So... that one. (Too snarky?)
  21. Polanco alone for Neshek would be a massive overpay and worthy of the crucifixion we'd give the deal on this site.
  22. I'm going to address your comparison quickly. You are using Mitch Garver, a four-year college player, drafted in the ninth round only he saved the team money given his lack of leverage, to JR Murphy, a high-school draftee paid more than $1 million in the second round and widely considered the better prospect until the last year or so, as your proof of how the Twins operate. That's not apples to oranges, that apples to battleships. It's not a great comparison, imo. Would you apply to same logic to Jorge Polanco, whom the Twins brought up at age 20 or 21 versus Brian Dozier, who had to wait until he was over the hill at 25 to get his first taste? Which player has done better for it? It just doesn't seem to fit your narrative.
  23. I looked it up, and yes I was wrong about the relative rankings of the league. Sorry for that. Then again, your overgeneralization to claim that each player moves in lockstep is still a valid criticism.
