  1. Mike Maddox or Dave Martinez are my preferred targets. Go outside of the organization and get some fresh ideas in here.
  2. Philly loves Hamel so I doubt they would move him with out one of Buxton/Sano. I rather trade Meyer+ for Latos (if he would agree to a contract extension). Kemp is interesting if the Dodgers would be willing to eat some of his contract because I don't see them doing this Kemp for Nolasco swap everyone is talking about.
  3. I could get behind trading for Latos if they can work out an extension with him. He has a pretty solid track record and is still only 26. Him and Hughes would make a solid 1-2 combo. Twins have a ton of quantity so let's package some of it up to get quality.
  4. I would love for them to go for Lester with Shields being the back up plan if they decided to go the FA route (which they won't). Honestly if the rumors were true that the reds might trade Latos in the off season he would be my #1 target. I would have no problem with them trading Meyer+ for him.
  5. Astros get the #2 overall pick next year because they failed to sign Aiken. Also, if the Twins tie with the Astros, Houston would get the higher pick due to having a worse record last year. We would pick #6 if the season ended today.
  6. Oh I totally agree with you that I rather the Twins just sign a big name SPer than trade valuable assists for one but that is (surprisingly) less probable then them actually trading for one. What I was saying is I would be open for a prospect for proven player trade which I wasn't open to say, this time last year. I wouldn't mind exploring a Latos trade if rumors were accurate that he was on the block. Once again, they won't sign a big time starter or trade for one so both are points are mute.
  7. Maybe I'm in the minority here in the fact I wouldn't be upset if they packaged Meyer or Berrios in a deal for a prove upgrade. Either way it doesn't matter. In the end I'm guessing outside of a few cheap place holders the team will look the exact same. It is sad too because this will be the first off season in years that I actually think they could get significantly better. Maybe that is just me. Either way I can't wait for the draft!
  8. I consider myself to be a bigger than most prospect/draft guy and the last three years I defended the slow build because this team had a ton of holes. The team has finally built a solid (cheap) big league frame for future success so why not trade from our biggest strength to try and help the team? While the Cubs have the most top heavy prospect system, stupid Buxton/Sano/Stewart injuries, we have the deepest. Why not use some of that depth? Heck, even if we traded both Meyer and Berrios we would still be a top 5 system. It's not like we don't have another top 100 prospect coming to us in next years draft. Even if prospects didn't bust, which they definitely do, we wouldn't have enough roster spots for all our prospects anyways.
  9. Prospects are the currency of baseball. Why not use both our depth of prospects and available money to upgrade the team? Go after a Lester (who won't cost a draft pick) and then turn around and trade Meyer+ for an offensive upgrade?
  10. I'm starting to doubt that the Twins will ever change managers but if they do I'm sure they will go in house which I feel is a mistake. While I don't think Molitor would be a bad choice this franchise needs some fresh blood. I have been saying it for years but my vote would be Mike Maddux. Big fan.
  11. Suzuki extension via ken Rosenthal.
  12. This is going to be a crazy trade.
  13. The point of buying low is to sell high. I just can't see Suzuki being worth a 3 year extension.
  14. Very active trade deadline..... Wish the Twins were more active but that would require valuable trade pieces.
  15. Outside of switching Berrios and Gordon I like it.
  16. In Law's mid season update he had Gordon ranked #25, only behind Rodon for 2014 draftees, so there is upside. Gordon just seems to get knocked because he doesn't have any flashy tools like Buxton's 80 speed or Sano's 80 power. What is wrong with a guy that can do everything well? A plus defensive SS who can hold his own at the plate is a 3 WAR player.
  17. I don't believe it has ever been proven that moral victories lead to actual victories the next season. I care more about development than wins in a losing season. If Suzuki, Correia, Willingham, and whomever isn't in future plans trade them for assets instead of losing them for nothing at the end of the year.
  18. O's also need a catcher for the rest of the year.
  19. I'm afraid fans and the front office might give up on him too quick and he might become Gomez 2.0. Obviously he hasn't shown that he is a big leaguer but he still has the tools to be.
  20. Berrios actually performed better than I expected. Outside of the jump to the pros going from A+ to AA is considered the hardest. Good for him. As for May and Meyers I think they both need to see the bigs this year but in different roles. May needs to be in the rotation as soon as he is healthy. As for Meyer they aren't going to over work him this year so I doubt he starts in the bigs. Throwing him the Twins bullpen at the end of the year would at least give him a chance to face big league hitters.
  21. Darren Wolfson retweeted that the Twins signed Dalin Cuesto-C. No bonus included.
  22. The Twins will do nothing at the trade deadline like every year. Maybe they make a minor trade of a veteran for a 28 year old career AAAA bull pen arm. The team isn't good enough to go all in but it also isn't bad enough to blow it up.
  23. Unless they make a few moves or stay incredibly healthy for the rest of the year, this is where I peg them.
  24. I still have Stewart at #4 with Gordon sliding in at #5. I don't see the point of getting worried after 55 innings about one stat, in low A, for a 19 year old who had never focused on baseball before vs older competition. Kid has premium stuff.
