Doumit is worth more to the Twins under his current contract than any anemic return they would have received in a trade.

    http://www.twinsdaily.com/showthread.php?4137-Chone-Figgins Conveniently titled, "Chone Figgins."

    He's no Chone Figgins.

Do many 35-year-olds with multiple years of putridity become decent again?
  5. snepp
Even if he weren't a putrid player, is he even capable of playing a viable middle infield at this point?

    Drew Butera > Barry Bonds

In a perfect world, yes. But as Brock pointed out, talented teams have the tendency to build chemistry through winning. Talent isn't something that's going to grow on its own no matter how much chemistry you have.

Some posters would advocate signing Mother Teresa herself, despite it guaranteeing 100-loss seasons. Talent does matter.
  9. snepp
The Twins already possess an abundance of chemistry, it would be swell to balance that out with a little more talent.

    Chief's reply killed me.

What would you say its DORP is?

WAR is serious business, no time for funny.

Don't mind Chief. He's perfectly open to, and objective on, 99.99% of subjects. This is the .01.
  15. snepp
    Their numbers are awfully similar.
  16. snepp
I think in this case the reaping of what was sowed is justified.
  17. snepp
What? There are no pay cut restrictions on free agents.
  18. snepp
Overpaying early in free agency is what led to Matt Capps coming back for three times as much as what he should have gotten.

    Bring back Telly!

I stopped taking in the Strib content when they neutered the commenting system. Is it still the same technological embarrassment, or can you actually make use of line breaks again? Always liked Phil's baseball work though, I may have to start perusing their Twins section again.

    They're not white, they're european.
  22. snepp
I'm pretty sure that Ryan has been on record in the past stating that they can't/won't carry budget savings forward.

$12 million in additional accounting fees?
  24. snepp
    Preferably two that aren't terrible.
