  1. Well hell, if that's all there is to it why would any team ever bother?
  2. I'll see if I can find them. We had a pretty lengthy discussion about the general topic of revenues/budgets/etc on BYTO a few years back and those type of things were cited in it.
  3. The Twins brass has been on record in that past that budget "saved" in one year will not be rolled forward to future years.
  4. A Shaun Marcum signing could help out in that regard.
  5. From baseball reference, the actual figure was 4.37. American League 2012 Pitching Splits - Baseball-Reference.com Edit: I see, you're looking at ML as a whole.
  6. Brooks Baseball · Home of the PitchFX Tool - The Front Page A great pitchf/x resource.
  7. I know I'm nitpicking here, but the league average ERA for starters last year was roughly 4.40. Relievers were at 3.55, the combined figure was 4.10. That would be 458 runs in those 940 innings for the starters.
  8. It reads like Goin and this intern are the entire department, is that correct?
  9. You have to offer the money before someone can take it.
  10. I agree, I was very impressed by the quality of these articles.
  11. [h=2]Reports From Instructs: Miguel Sano [/h]by Kiley McDaniel - December 31, 2012 Same author as the Buxton article. This one also includes a couple of paragraphs on Zachary Jones.
  12. Nick Punto's perhaps?
  13. I believe it's both the 4th and 5th spots that see more RISP than the 3rd. The 3rd spot also comes up with 2 out and the bases empty more often than any other.
  14. Basically they told him to take a couple weeks off over the holidays before starting his pre-spring throwing sessions.
  15. I'd like this post a thousand times if I could.
  16. I'm not sure what's worse, Hunter being a douchebag homophobe, or the people defending him.
  17. Don't sign good players, because if everything works out perfectly you won't need them, and you'll end up with too many good ones.
  18. For all the reasons already stated by others, you're wrong.
  19. Reports From Instructs: Byron Buxton by Kiley McDaniel - December 28, 2012
  20. Really? No way! Wait a minute, it seems that I've read something like that before.....oh yeah, he already said that in the original post.
  21. First they couldn't give the money away, and now it's that they refuse to "overpay" for anyone that doesn't suck. It's either a contradiction, or all of this money they couldn't give away was really just a bunch of low-ball offers with little chance of ever being accepted. I'm guessing the latter. Annnnnnnnd Brock basically just said the exact same thing, but did it in a much more entertaining way.
  22. Planning on making a trip to Japan?
  23. At this point I would settle for the spending of their present revenue.
  24. I would much prefer to let a guy like DeVries get abused for a fraction of the cost and go sign a pitcher less likely to get abused in the first place.
  25. No, they overpaid for lousy pitching, and if they hadn't done so maybe they could afford to acquire higher quality pitching instead. As it is they have an embarrassment of back-of-the-rotation riches vying for a spot in what may very well end up being the worst rotation in the league. Overpay for average pitching? If only we could be so lucky.
