  1. They're probably also pretty sure that when they inevitably remove Bernier from the roster, he won't get claimed. Probably a lot closer call with Beresford going up and coming back down. Feel bad for the guy, not much more he can do, performance-wise, is there?
  2. The Red Wings website lists a third option for tomorrow's starter, Pat Dean.
  3. Apparently you can never have enough veteraniness, even of the AAAA kind. Actually, it's more of the same old same old: rewarding the loyal good scouts who re-up with the Twins after they reach free agency. It definitely makes little sense in a year where you would think they want to evaluate any and every potential future prospect for 2016 and beyond.
  4. As injury prone as Buxton was in 2014..... didn't Buxton see/remember Kendrys Morales breaking his leg after jumping up and stomping on home plate after a walk-off homer for the Angels? Cringe-inducing, especially after watching Michaels' injury- which looked pretty horrific.
  5. I would have voted Gonsalves, but like Gonsalves in the MWL, Hu is also two years young for the FSL, with numbers fairly close, but a slight shade lower, to Gonsalves' numbers. Baxendale is in his 3rd trip to AA, and as we have found out all too often over the recent years, with respect to Dean, those AAA numbers are often very misleading. Gonsalves is currently on pace to break into the Mid-Season Top 100 rankings, the other three, not so much.
  6. And the other single, and the double and the terrific, game-saving catch....
  7. The whole OF did the lion's share of the work in winning this game.
  8. Oh but he did help! As I posted in the Rosario thread, just bringing up the new guy oft-times "gets the attention" of the guys skating on thin ice.
  9. Think Salinger, Poe, Kerouac, Kesey and Thompson, especially Thompson.
  10. They all had under 300 PAs, didn't include them in my screen. Of the 9 players with over 300 PAs, Rosario was by far the best (next closest was at league average)
  11. Heh.. Howie and Jokin on the same page? Someone check the the thermometer in Hell.
  12. Great post. Molitor is far from earning Manager of the Year kudos, but... the contrast in decisiveness about the roster and dyamism with both the lineup and the bullpen has been refreshing. Just one year ago at this time the braintrust was mired in the midst of unwinding from a series of horrible off-season veteran roster additions and "pronouncements"- like "Florimon is my Shortstop!" and "Bartlett is my Super-Utility guy!", "I need 13, no, 14 pitchers!", "Veteraniness over young talent!" and "We're keeping Meyer and May down because we have a Plan!" Now let's see how adroitly they handle Part Two--- cutting the veteran deadweight and readyying the top prospects to hit the ground running.
  13. Probably more like "out", either out to the pen or out of the organization.
  14. By far the best among the nine 21 year olds in the league, and as I pointed out previously, far better than 22-year old Joe Panik's .680 OPS.
  15. You're putting words in my mouth that I haven't stated. To the contrary, I'm far from predicting instant success for Rosario, I'm responding to the allegation that Rosario has "failed" @ AA-level pitching. The Twins were aggressive in promoting Rosario to AAA- and now to the Twins, isn't that what almost all of us want the Twins to do? (And haven't you yourself run a series on players the Twins should push?)
  16. Not sure what you're referring to, but overall league average OPS in the AFL was .718, vs. Rosario @ .755. Eastern League OPS was .717 vs. Rosario @ .742 (one of nine 21 year olds in the league that year, Rosario was the top performer by far, he also out-performed then-22-year old Joe Panik, who OPS'd @ .680). So you're arguing instead for a guy who has failed... spectacularly...twice.... after supposedly "succeeding" at AA? Getting a quick 15-day look-see, ala Polanco and Santana last year, isn't going to hurt the Twins much, if at all, and serves notice that the changing of the guard is at hand.
  17. * Except for the success he had in the AFL? Clearly, the Twins saw something from Rosario both last fall and this spring- or they wouldn't have slotted him at AAA to start out the season, skipping AA before he'd mastered that level. Hicks is on double-secret probation, it has to be Rosario for now, no pressure if he falters, goes back down and regroups, but what if he pulls a Santana?.... next month, perhaps it's going to be Hicks' time to shine.
  18. Or alternatively, one could believe in a 100% healthy arm and a new forkball out pitch.
  19. There was a major league player by the name of Matt Batts from the 40s and 50s, no indication that they were related.
