  1. Actually it was only two starts, but he successfully piggy-backed in 4 IP of long relief in his first AAA appearance. Which makes it more baffling that he didn't come in for Milone on Monday night. The messing around continues. It looks like Duffey is the only one of the 3 call-ups with a specifically defined, although temporary, role.
  2. The sad fact is- Ryan himself said as much in so many words the first time he stepped down.
  3. The only surprise to me was that the Tigers beat the Blue Jays to the waiver wire punch bowl.
  4. FWIW- Look for both Buxton and Kepler riding the same jet back to Rochester very soon. Santana is eligible to come off of the DL today.* * MN Twins version of a roster "Shake-Up" TM
  5. Perhaps Twins management couldn't resist basking in the irony of yet another strategically-planned "Hicks for Murphy" swap?
  6. This latest move on HIcks is head-scratching, given how long they usually hold on to such prototypical (non)-catching prospect entities like Chris Hermann. Perhaps it's Murphy's "veteraniness" they prize even more? In order to fill that clubhouse void left in the wake of Hunter's retirement? (I mean post-game dance parties don't start themselves up in a vacuum.) Or maybe they're operating on the theory that: "Two Murphy's Are Better Than One"? (FWIW- Hermann's hitting prowess with the D-Backs is putting JR Murphy to utter shame- given his 2016 hitting line- .125/.192/.333/(.525))
  7. You left Alex Meyer (and May) out of your calculus, Darius. (Both could have been force-fed into the rotation in mid-2014 at a time when they absolutely dominated AAA, in which case they would both be much farther along their developmental timeline.)
  8. Palka is coming on strong- 4 for 4 today with 1 HR, 2 Db, 2 BB- this guy gets on a tear, watch out!
  9. It's a given that the FSL is a pitcher's league, sure.... But.. "seriously"... You need to check the Miracle stats, vis a vis the rest of the FSL, the pitching staff collectively, especially the top 5 starters are dominating almost all of the league-wide stats. This is shaping up to be a pretty special group, and at the very least, the top 3 starters should do very well, and perhaps very soon, at the next level.
  10. Assuming he keeps going anywhere near this level of production, how much longer can they keep him down in Ft Myers?
  11. It's also good to see him moved up in the lineup and Maloney moved down. Things might improve for Palka even more if when Gordon is moved to AA and bats in front of him and Garver and Hicks step up their production levels behind him.
  12. I'm wondering where are all the folks who assured us if in the unlikely event that Gardy was fired, being so universally respected around the League... he'd be hired by somebody else in a New York minute. So now with this development it seems readily apparent, the only club in a 30 team organization that is MLB- that has any interest, is the one that fired him.
  13. I would say the uptick in velocity seems to be significant. Haven't the reports always said he was a low-90s guy?
  14. Is it soon time to recalibrate Jorge's prospect status? 74 strikes in 96 pitches with 8 Ks, it seems like he was merely toying with opponent bats on Sunday. Although it seems like he's been around forever, he's still just 22, a year young for High A. Do we have any reports? Has he physically matured? Uptick in velocity? A more effective secondary pitch? The things that are happening with this Miracle starting corps are pretty encouraging.
  15. Mostly true, but this Miracle staff is dominating team pitching stats in the FSL as a unit in the early-going thus far. And not only that, their numbers so far show marked improvement over the net results from last year's already terrific league-leading or near-league-leading results. For example: ERA- 1.97 (1st) [2015- 2.70 ] WHIP- 0.98 (1st) [2015- 1.19] H/9- 5.68 (1st) [2015- 7.88] K/9- 9.00 (2nd) [2015- 7.15] K/BB- 2.83 (4th) [2015- 2.50] Only 9 games in, to be sure, but this staff has a little more experience and a lot more raw talent. Look for quite a few promotions to AA between now and the ASG.
  16. Not all of us. I had a chance to see him in 2014 in a dominant performance against Louisville in August... and like many more of us... were wondering how it was possible that an inept major league pitching staff wouldn't have benefited from Meyer's presence- even Gardy had made comments, starting in spring training that year. that he would have preferred giving Meyer a major league look-see over some of the dregs that threw that season.
  17. Yup. And really, you can extend that sense friendly competition to all 5 starters*- seems like they all have a chance to one day help out the Twins *(or as I've coined previously- Los Cinco Maginificos)
  18. He's an OBP machine. A real sleeper particularly considering that he's a 9th rounder.
  19. Kohl Stewart one-ups Gonsalves tonight- 6 IP 6 K 1 BB 1 Hit Love the friendly competition, shaping up to being an awesome starting five.
