  1. Seth, how much info do you have on Boshers? Looking at his career stats, he looks like one of those decent-stuff teasers that a club might take on chance on "fixing" (former 4th round pick is nothing to sneeze at). High K rate/High BB rate. Through April in Rochester, his control has shown a marked improvement vs. his career numbers.
  2. *** Except for many great minor league SP/RP performances, + Gordon, Palka and Wade???
  3. If he can prove to be good enough to play major league level CF, he might be a perfect fit as a regularly playing 4th OFer in a very crowded and talented Twins outfield in a couple more years. Two levels this year and he kills it in AA next year and he could be a legit candidate to be with the Twins by 2018. As an alternative, and assuming he keeps up his current production rate, how much interest would he draw as a sweetener to some bigger major league deal?
  4. Different guys react differently on their first time ever playing in cold weather. For example, his buddy, and fellow Venezuelan, Luis Arraez, has hit the ground running in A ball. As you note, his underlying numbers offer some hope. Once the weather starts hitting 80 degrees with regularity, look for Palacios' BABIP to normalize up from his current .213 back towards .375 or so- and overall end up with a pretty solid batting line by season's end.
  5. And most important, only 3 Ks in 17 PAs.
  6. This is just his first really bad game, up to now the strikeouts have been there for him. I think it's going to take at least half a season to make the full adjustment to starting instead of relieving.
  7. I think this would be great, if he can just cut back on a good portion of the 3 ball counts and walks
  8. A serious question.... how many other potential ace/near ace arms are handled this way around the League? Very disappointing.
  9. How'd that one work out? I predicted the opposite, and unfortunately I was correct. It will now be, at the minimum, 9 days since Meyer will have last pitched in a game (should he somehow get in the game on Friday).
  10. Stupid? It would be absolutely criminal to trade any of the high upside arms (unless they know something nobody else does). The mortal and semi-mortal carnage that accompanies these types of prospects must be close to 75%- or even higher.
  11. I'm with you on this interpretation, given that, I don't think we have to worry too much about TR rushing him prematurely, or even "maturely."
  12. Yep, that's why he was on my picks to click for a call-up this year should his skills fill a necessary defensive void. I think all he needs to stick in the majors as a top notch utility guy is a respectable stick.
  13. Yeah, Andrelton Simmons has a career OPS of .660. The lack of walks so far for Vielma appears to be anomalous, as his K% is just about the same as it has always been- giving him a current OPS of .667. I would think the Twins would be thrilled if he could match anywhere close to that number coupled with his very good glove in a utility role with the major league club. Which brings me cause to reiterate, Seth... does Engelb have an arm problem/injury or a case of the yips that is causing his recent spate of errors?
  14. It's like they're setting him up for failure... and the guy already has a problem with maintaining consistent mechanics... "consistency"... one of their top criteria in evaluating chances for major league success... I don't get it.
  15. In truth, I was pleased with how Meyer was handled last season and thus far this year- before the call-up- not having him pitch in relief of Milone on Monday was strange- he needed to pitch that night, just to keep him on potential regular schedule in a starting role. But going back to how he was handled before this current major league limbo role, there was too much "holding him back" in 2014, a lost year for Gardy's last team, with nothing to lose in giving him a major league trial when things were really clicking for him in AAA.
  16. I for one of many out here, haven't jumped off of that bandwagon. But it is quite concerning how many decisions of late are of the knee-jerk variety---
  17. Yeah, I was wondering about that as well. So uncharacteristic... is there something wrong with his arm? I mean, other than Buxton- and perhaps Turner, he was about as sure a thing defensively in terms of a prospect translating to the majors, as anyone in the system. Any idea what gives?
  18. Too many guys in the Twins pipeline being groomed for those premier late inning roles. Meyer was acquired with the intent on securing a future starting ace, they need to play the string out on that prospect for a bit longer. Chargois is the guy who should get the next chance for filling the need in the pen.
  19. My prayers on this under-the-radar offseason acquisition are being answered... Palka is my new pick for top Twins Prospect Demigod. We bow before thee, King Daniel, and your minor league loftiness.
  20. He's sitting on around 100 IPs at High A, a move to AA at this point wouldn't really be rushing him- really, he appears to be toying with the hitters at his current level- time to move up! And the Twins really need a LH SP, if Gonsalves continues this type of success in the upper minors, why hold him back from a look-see promotion to the Twins by the middle of 2017?
  21. Great point, he was on my list for picks to click for early promotion. I don't know much about the guy in front of him in AAA, but assuming Vielma cleans up his early-season defensive scuffles right quick, I don't know how they hold him back from a mid-season move to Rochester.
  22. The best part of all of this is that Gonsalves keeps setting the bar higher for Kohl Stewart in the following game- in which case Stewart has done so- resetting even higher for Gonsalves' next start. Look for Stewart to dominate this evening, and look for early promotions to Chattanooga for both by no later than a few more starts. This is the second time around for both of these guys in High A- let's stop wasting those bullets of the best prospect pitching that the system has to offer.
