  1. There are many other reasons the Vikings won’t make the playoffs. Kubiak is a 1st year OC with a HC who’s gone through 6 OCs in his tenure.
  2. You need the full package to win in the MLB, or any sport for that matter. If the Twins think that their pipeline will supply them with all of the pitching they will need, then they could sign a guy like Story or Bryant to a long term deal. I wouldn’t do both, as I don’t think that their pipeline will supply them with all of the pitching they need. I think they should have a bit left over to spend in FA to address the pitching staff.
  3. Maeda may have been a SSS in 2020 but that’s also the case with Baddoo, Wade, Littell, etc. Wisler had an absolute career year in 2020. Thielbar hadn’t even pitched in the majors for 4 years before 2020 and he hasn’t been half bad Odorizzi had a career year in 2019. I also don’t recall the Twins trading any of those four players.
  4. Fair points. However, Odorizzi did have his best season in 2019, so I think that that deserves recognition as him coming here and having a breakout year.
  5. Which players came here and did better? Do Maeda, Wisler, Thielbar, & Odorizzi not exist? Maybe all other teams yank the pitcher at 5/6 innings or when they get in a jam and not allowed to work themselves out of it. The Dodgers led the league this past season in Starter IP, with 843.1. Over a 162 game season, that’s 5.1 IP per game. The Rangers were last in the league at 798.2. Over a 162 game season, that’s 5.0 IP per game. That’s just how the modern MLB works.
  6. This is interesting. With the current roster, there are two possible scenarios. If pitching prospects get injured again or don’t produce, we’re looking <60 wins. However if that long expected pipeline explodes with pitching talent, you might be surprised and they win 70-79. I’ll be a homer and go with the latter.
  7. I think it makes more sense to have Kirilloff in LF and Miranda at 1B, because Miranda would stay on the infield (and play an easier position).
  8. Stick to the topic please. Thanks.
  9. We all have our biases and we all have our favorite players. I understand that. However, these things can’t really be baked into this particular discussion.
  10. Jay and Gordon may have been hit, but they weren’t hit hard. Jay missed 2 months with a shoulder injury and Gordon missed half of a season (144 games). Stewart wasn’t hit at all. The current regime lost an entire year for ALL of their prospects in 2020. That’s going to slow down development for all of their prospects, and that time can’t be made up. Their #1 pick in 2017 also tore his ACL, causing him to miss another entire year, also time that can’t be made up. To the bolded section, how was Ryan’s drafting strategy good and he just got unlucky whereas the current FO’s strategy is just bad? Seems parallel with the argument that the 2016 Twins were unlucky and the 2021 Twins were just bad (uh……no?). I don’t follow the logic there at all. The books aren’t closed on the 2017-onward drafts, and they are for the 2013-2015 draft.
  11. If I’m the Bears, this is as embarrassing as ****.
  12. The Bears offense is an abomination.
  13. The Bears are absolutely horrible.
  14. This argument goes back the other way as well. You literally cannot know that it would’ve been automatic. So which is it? IDK. However, I think it’s foolish to think that a team at the professional level can succeed on talent alone.
  15. That may have come across not how I intended it to. Ryan was good for a lot of his tenure. I was referring to 2011-2016. Ryan was clearly past his expiration date.
  16. Not to be a whataboutist, but is this even a question? Don’t forget about how awful Terry Ryan was. Wasting first round picks is a huge thing you left out, I don’t recall Falvey doing that (at least not yet). While Ryan did stock the farm with players like Berrios, Buxton, Polanco, Rosario, Garver, Kepler, Sano, etc he also left the pitching cupboards bare. The current FO has stocked the farm with players like Martin, Lewis, and Larnach, etc but also has managed to acquire pitchers like Ryan, Duran, Woods Richardson, & Petty. If you want to argue that they shouldn’t have Ryan, Woods Richardson, and Martin and that the only reason they do is because they weren’t competitive, then in that scenario we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. So that argument is a total dead goose of an argument. Pretty much any negatives you can attribute to the current FO can also be attributed to the Ryan administration.
  17. About time I make another Twins poll. The question of the day today is, "How hot is Baldelli's seat going into 2022?" Is his job safe no matter what in 2022 or is his job on the line? You choose (well, kind of). If you want to hear my opinion on Baldelli, I wrote in depth about it here. And as always, vote above, discuss below.
  18. Celestino was pretty dreadful for the 23 games he played in the majors in 2021 (granted, a small sample size). While he was solid at the plate in AAA in 2021, it’s incredibly concerning that he wasn’t ready for the major leagues 6 years after being drafted. So IDK what the ceiling for him would be defensively. Offensively, well, he would essentially be that of a rookie (could shock you but will most likely need to time to adjust to the majors).
  19. Sorry—that was a misclick as a result of Safari being weird on a tablet.
  20. What’s funny is that Kansas is a landlocked state so that isn’t even possible.
  21. There has been a lot of talk about the HOF and the upcoming inductions in July of 2022 as of late. There are many players we could debate about getting in, but today I’d like to discuss the former Twin. The question is simple: Should David Ortiz be inducted into the HOF? The reason this isn’t a hard yes is because he has failed a drug test, and there’s other evidence that he cheated. So was most of Ortiz’ success built upon PEDs, or would he have been a HOF regardless? That’s the question of the day. As always, vote above and discuss below. Note: I might do one of these on Barry Bonds at some point in the near future.
  22. To put it in simple terms: Bonds and Ortiz have both been caught cheating. I don’t want cheaters to make the HoF. That being said, Ortiz probably will. Not as sure about Bonds.
  23. Okay fine, I’ll admit that my post was a bad one. Everything you said is correct.
  24. Well obviously they have a long-term solution at starter. As for a backup, I have my doubts about Cave, as he was really bad in 2021. I don’t know if we can expect a bounceback year from him. Austin Martin possibly, but only when he’s ready. I don’t want to bring him up, have him struggle, and destroy his confidence. In any case, if you can find a (good) backup for little money, do it. If you can’t, have Martin or Cave fill the role.
