1. I like the idea of signing Jurrjens with the first one, but the rest is....bad. Galvis was a one year wonder in the minors, we don't need an outfielder, and something else needs to happen at the middle infield. Jurrjens is really someone I'd be happy to sign as long as it's less than 4 million/year. Take away last year and his rookie year (where he didn't throw 50 innings in either) and the stat line is:
[TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc show_partial_when_sorting, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]Year[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc show_partial_when_sorting, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]Tm[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]W[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]L[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]W-L%[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]ERA[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]G[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]GS[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]GF[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]CG[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]SHO[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]SV[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]IP[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]H[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]R[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]ER[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]HR[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]BB[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]IBB[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]SO[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]HBP[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]BK[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]WP[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]BF[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]ERA+[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]WHIP[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]H/9[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]HR/9[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip sort_default_asc hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]BB/9[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]SO/9[/TH] [TH=class: tooltip hide_non_quals, bgcolor: #DADCDE, align: center]SO/BB[/TH]
2008-2011 ATL 47 32 .595 3.34 108 108 0 2 1 0 671.2 636 273 249 53 231 20 467 13 4 12 2824 121 1.291 8.5 0.7 3.1 6.3 2.02

He doesn't strike a lot of people out and it's certainly a high risk, high reward move. Should this count towards the 1-2 pitchers the Twins need to sign? Of course not, but I'd like to give him a chance. The second one is just as worse and I don't see any creative moves.
2. If it's Jeter's 3,000th hit, I sell the ball. If it's Mauer's....I may keep it or return it. Depends on what you think of the player who hit the ball. I think that if you return a ball though, you should decline any compensation from the athlete. The PR boost for them helps, but I think it's more honorable. People get credited as 'doing the right thing' by giving it back when they really are getting something back (even if hardly anything value wise).
3. Great idea and it's not often that any of these guys would grace a top 12 list! Partly because they're not good and partly because most top 12s would be narrowed down to 10.
4. Well maybe useful until you consider nearly every pitcher in baseball can average one. (4.50ERA>)
5. This is a great idea and pretty funny. My first choice is Dickey V. Then on, I need to think...
6. Pick any game that we've played the Yankees.
7. I hope you are right. But I don't think he has the power to be a corner guy and he is not fast enough to be a CF. I see him as a 4th OF who can get on base. If he could play 2B he would be a fantastic super utility guy because his on base skills would translate well to a pinch hitter. Also, I wouldn't say he mashed at every level. He has done good but not great everywhere except Arizona where he was unreal. He is not all that young for his level so it would get him back on track to be at AA to start the year next year. If Hicks or Arcia start the year on the big league roster it will help move up a level and officially pass a prospect like Morales. But I like his answer regarding health. If he stays healthy the whole year he could jump up in some prospect rankings. .307/.439/.458 isn't mashing? That's career minor league averages for him. His worst was a .860 OPS. Of course his age is his biggest flaw, but he still was close to the average age of players in Beloit. I personally have him #12 in my prospect rankings. While he doesn't have a ton of power for a corner outfielder, Roberts has a little bit of everything tools wise and we saw a lot of speed last season. Too bad he bats lefty.
8. Blackburn gave up 81 runs in 2012... Correia gave up 80 and Marquis gave up 74 in 127.2 innings between Minnesota and San Diego. Blackburn pitched 98.2 innings and Correia threw 171 innings. If posters want to cry Blackburn with this signing... Please don't ignore the 72.1 innings of shutout ball in comparison between the two... In Comparison... Thats quite the difference. Good for Correia that he wasn't capable of the other worldly and historically colossal decrepitude that Nick Blackburn is. For a metaphorical visual of that comparison, a 4 looks a lot sexier when standing next to a 1....and yet it's still a 4. Yeah... That's kinda my point... But we have posters here who are calling this signing Blackburn esque. I was pointing out that... that is embellishment at a fairly large degree. Fair enough. But I see their point in a way. Even Blackburn might have been a 4 prior to 2012 where he gained a lot of weight and refused to wear any makeup. It's possible that Correia falls apart in that way he and Marquis did at Target Field.
9. One of my favorite prospects. He's mashed at every single level. Admire the stache greatly. You're dreaming clutter. He's a corner outfielder.

11. If the A's sign Kevin Correia to this deal, it still sucks for them like it sucks for us.
12. If the MLB trade rumors site is to be believed, Youkilis Seriously Considering Yankees: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com, Youk has a $12M offer in hand from the Yankees. Minnesota's paltry revenue stream from funding Target Field pales in comparison to what drives this market. Well I guess if the Yankees want a player, there is no way anyone else has a chance at getting him. I'd go up to $10M on Youkilis for one year and offseason handbook (I believe) had him going a 7 million a year. Regardless, we need an infielder that can hit for right handed power in addition to a premiere pitcher.
13. On the plus side, we have 20 million dollars to spend. Put 7 million/yr towards Youkilis and 13 million/yr towards Jackson/Marcum. Jackson/Marcum Diamond Worley Gibson Hendriks/Correia Correia could be the next Blackburn for us with his contract lingering until 2014, but hopefully he provides a serviceable 5. I hope to God, Terry Ryan isn't satisfied using the underlined five for next year's rotation. That's a disaster waiting to happen. Please, PLEASE sign another pitcher. (Preferably good this time)
14. Disappointing sign. He had below average numbers in the National League where he's spent his entire career. Poor SO/BB, WHIP, and he's never pitched more than 200 innings in a season. Second move I disapprove of from Terry Ryan since his return. The first of course is Jason Marquis. 4.77ERA the past three season. Overpaid and underwhelming.
15. Very happy to have Mientkiewicz back! Probably the best defensive 1B to never win a Gold Glove. He was a favorite of mine.
16. I'm really high on Hicks as well and it's nice to see that the org thinks he's good enough to play already. He could develop into the best leadoff hitter in the game.
17. Well, this isn't good for the Twins. Truth be told, I prefer the Bruce Chen, Jonathan Sanchez pitcher types Kansas City was using.... The Rays got a helluva deal for a pitcher that's getting a huge, long term contract in two years.
18. I just don't think talking to the Dodgers is a good idea. They don't really have anything I want. Unless they want to take offers for Zach Lee.
19. Probably in the 15-20 range with a chance to move up once he is healthy and pitching well. I'd rank him in the 20-25. #22 to be precise and just below Luke Bard. That's solely because he's a first round pick. I think a lot of other contributors to the site have him lower because of TJ. He wasn't doing too well prior to it either. When you think about how slim the odds are for prospects to make the show, the odds really aren't in his favor. He can only hope to go the Gibson route.
20. I thought it was pretty harsh too. The Diamondbacks are #3 just because they have 3 aces? Well the Twins have an Ace, Two #2s, A Slugging Phenom, 2 Five Tool Center Fielders, A fantastic pure hitter, and a top 5 middle infield prospect. They also have the best rookie ball team in the Appy league, a solid International scouting department (Sano, Polanco, Minier, Arcia, etc.), and have been improving draft-wise. I think that tops the Diamondbacks, Jays, and the questionable #1 Mariners. Don't want to come off as mean-spirited, I just really disagreed with jtrinaldi's opinion. The Twins do not have a current ACE in their system. Gibson is a 2, Meyer and May are fringe 3's, and Berrios is likely a 3. Thus you have no ACE. The D-Backs and Mariners do have the best farm system, which will be depleted after this year when they all make their debut's. The Twins haven't develo[ed an ACE in such a long time, that fans forget how hard it is to develop one ACE, much less 2 or 3. The M's also have Zunino who is being compared to Jason Varitek, and other star Catchers. The core players of my Jays assessment are Sanchez,Syndergaard, D'Arnaud. I am probably overrating the Jays, Norris' Velocity has dropped a bunch since HS and last year (4MPH on his fastball that used to hit 96) .the Pirates should be #5. Lots of young Dominicans coming up, with 2 sure fire aces. I stand pat with 1-4, Should be Pirates 5,Twins 6. The only Aces in the MILB right now are Bundy Skaggs Bauer Bradley Taillon Cole T.Walker Aaron Sanchez Potentially Hultzen TBD this year : Guerreri,Fried,Snell I'd say Meyer is a #2 since his slider and fastball project to be plus pitches and his changeup looks average for a 3rd. He may not have the pitches required to be an ace, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could put up borderline ace numbers (ceiling). I mean Gibson has #2 upside and Meyer is a better prospect. May seems like #2/#3 Flex. Certainly more on the #3 side, but definitely not 'fringe'. Fried is a potential ace? I doubt it. His draft stock should have been higher then.
21. I would do that deal in a heartbeat. It might take a little more but would be worth it. I would never do that in a million years.
22. I see your logic, but why spend money on free agents that won't make much difference? If no difference makers can be signed, why not use the money to try to sign some more Sanos and Keplers, and maybe save some for Appel or some other expensive draft pick? If you sign players to multiyear contracts then they will make a difference in 2014. Nearly all players on the market are asking for those type of contracts. If they signed Shaun Marcum now, he's going to pitch in 2014 and beyond too.
23. I thought it was pretty harsh too. The Diamondbacks are #3 just because they have 3 aces? 24. If Rosario can't stay at 2nd, I don't think it's a huge deal to his prospect ranking. Many have said so, but I don't buy it. The next position for him would be CF which, like we've seen with Revere and Span, is considered a very valuable position across the league (WAR-wise also). I've actually reconsidered my rankings earlier and would put him at #4 in front of Arcia. He's shown to have just as much power as Arcia (perhaps a little more) in addition to speed and great contact skills. Rosario doesn't have a problem with strikeouts and isn't too bad at drawing walks. Looks like he has a good arm as well. He had 6 assists from Center in a shortened rookie ball season back in 2011. I think he could realistically be a 5 tool CF. That's not bad as a 2nd choice.
