  1. I guess that technically he's the new everything back-up OF. But at least this really does give a back-up CF.
  2. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 13m Arcia to DL. Mastroianni called up.
  3. I don't see that. I think he had near-godlike, idol status in the Spring of 2010. It would have been nearly impossible for anyone to live up to that view of perfection. But failing to build on his 2009 accomplishments and then his weird injury plagued 2011 season were a fall from grace. And therein lies the "debate" or lightning rod. Some people may still see him as perfect. But I think that number has diminished substantially. That's why it is easy to argue about his current role on team.
  4. Twins do Stand Up To Cancer on Monday. On Wednesday, they give Ron Gardenhire cigars. A bit hypocritical IMO.
  5. Well, that's an improvement. He was on pace for over 360 after the 1st.
  6. Kubel can hit a HR at Target??? Who Knew???? Good sign.
  7. The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall Really, I think that it comes down to that pure and simple. Mauer's 2009 season and subsequent contract created hugely unrealistic expecations among many fans and the general public. And the insanely bad management of the publicity surrounding his health issues in 2011 contributed to the downward spiral. And then the abysmal state of the franchise for the last 3 years contributed further. I've never been a huge Mauer fan and I was absolutely furious that he (seemingly) refused to rehab in Rochester in 2011. It took a little while for the pendulum to swing back and for me to appreciate what he does bring to both the field and the clubhouse. But he probably will never be my favorite player -- his personality simply leaves me cold.
  8. Or fall apart without being sharp.
  9. Nice interview, JC. Interesting that they are using 3 catchers in CR. Obviously versatility is going to be key for some of these players which is probably a good thing at their level anyway. They should enjoy the weather a little more through Saturday -- although it doesn't look like you're going to get the 77 degrees we're supposed to get today.
  10. Better Rodin than the one on the toilet.
  11. Loved seeing that. But it makes me a little sad, too. Brings back lots of memories of how edgy Letterman was in his NBC days. I'd only allow myself to watch the 1st half hour (took it til midnight Central) because of work the next morning. But I loved that half hour (or a little more). Was just never the same after he moved to CBS at 10:30.
  12. Come to Iowa -- Best beef in the world! I can go to my local butcher and we can even trace it to the farm where it was raised!
  13. When i open up an article from you Parker, I always expect a great, comprehensible technical analysis. I had absolutely no idea you could write the human interest aspect so well. It is the best article I have ever read on this site and one of the best about a Twin that I've read for a long time. Congrats, Parker and thanks and congrats to Colabello for making the first week of the season memorable. I was rooting for him because I appreciated the risk he was willing to take to make his major league dream come true. I had no idea that I should be rooting for him because he is what being a professional baseball player is all about.
  14. It's a small sample size for EVERYTHING. While there have been some pleasant surprises and some disappointments, all of it may look very different in a month or two. Enjoy the ride.
  15. Sometimes the easiest thing is to click back into the Minnesota Twins forum and then use the arrow to take you to the last post you'd read. I've done both that and "refreshed" depending on how long it is between comments. Refresh works best for shorter time periods and making it more of a conversation. Going out to the forum and then clicking on the down arrow next to the thread title works best if it has been awhile since I posted.
  16. Assuming $30 isn't your life savings , it's just a fun thing to do. As for whether you're an idiot, I don't know you well enough -- but Mark DeRosa is telling me to go ahead and vote yes.
  17. Uh, are we trading him to the Indians? Doesn't he have to get to the TC?
  18. OMG, I thought we had REACHED the 8th. There is still 1/3 of this game left to play. Ugh.
  19. Will we see the adventures of Jared Burton in the 8th???
  20. Well, as a good thing, Tigers just lost to Baltimore, 3-1.
  21. I'm hoping that Herrmann is either in transit or that they've got him ready to be called up at any second. Please.
  22. Pretty sure this game fits the definition of excruciating.
  23. Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann Chris Herrmann
  24. Figurative car tipping is good enough.
