  1. What Twins pitcher (or two or three) will ask to take regular batting practice thinking he could hit better than 1/2 the starting line-up?
  2. I'll try to keep track of when it happens to see if there is a pattern. At the time I had the problem with Chrome and IE this a.m., I could read and post using FF but it was slow. No big deal but the page not displayed was happening more often. Thanks for staying on top of all of this, Brock.
  3. Twins trivia: This is what constitutes improvement 1. Runners at 1st and 3rd and no one out and K, K, K 2. Runners at 1st and 2nd and no one out and K, Fly, K. See? 2 seems marginally better than 1
  4. I'd take having the radio announcers on TV anytime over Dick and Bert.
  5. And a heckuva lot more fun than having runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs AND NO ONE BRINGING ANYONE IN. Sounds like last year.
  6. But at least it was fun. And fun is about all I can hope for this year.
  7. Now we're moving..... nice to see Escobar with that hit. Does my heart good to see some of the younger guys batting well. (Now there are some older ones who need to turn it up -- looking at you Willi). Wow, Hicks!!!!
  8. I think you've just encapsulated a lot of fears about this season.
  9. Hicks looks like one of those guys who needs the pitcher to work quickly .... kind of fidgety out in center.
  10. Willingham with long fly to left. At least that's progress.
  11. At least you've driven "Glory Days" right out of my mind, RB.
  12. Well, I probably should have read the longer message better because it looks like it may be saying that the problem is with my router. But that still doesn't explain why I'm not having any trouble getting other sites on Chrome at the time I'm having trouble getting TD. This is on my laptop. And tends to happen most often in late morning (I think). FWIW, formatting looks fine in Firefox on my laptop. And also looks right on IE11.
  13. Bartlett doing his job working the count.
  14. I have a gut feeling that this 2-year contract will be his last, one way or another. I was struck by something in an article a few days ago (and now I can't find it back) in which he implied (or at least at first read, implied) that he would not be managing when the bulk of the prospects arrived. I don't know if that means he'll be fired without a winning record this season or if this is just some type of plan in place for his retirement.
  15. Halsey is still waiting for Mauer to bat lead-off.
  16. I usually use Chrome but lately I've been getting a lot of "Unable to load page" messages when I pull it up (TD is my homepage in Chrome). But at the same time I'm getting the message in Chrome, I am able to load TD in Firefox. But also not loading in Explorer (IE11). (Chrome is Version 33.0.1750.154 m and says it is up-to-date). It's just kind of frustrating so I am curious why it is happening. And just happening with TD not other sites. Here's the longer message in Chrome: [h=1] This webpage is not available[/h] Reload Less The server at http://www.twinsdaily.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network. Error code: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
  17. It's not a grand conspiracy .... it is an attempt to recover the past. I think Gardenhire genuinely misses the likes of Cuddyer and Punto and pre-July 2011 Morneau. I'm just not convinced that you can try to recreate that by bringing guys back. I think it is something that could develop from a group of prospects brought up at the same time. Alternatively, I think that new leadership from outside the organization might do it. In that sense, Bartlett is certainly better than Kubel, not just on personality but on time removed from the organization. But overall, the Twins need to embrace the future not the past.
  18. I thought that before his concussion. Afterwards, not so much. It really was like the concussion made him a shell of his former self. I hope he re-emerges in Colorado but his "vocal leadership" seemed to be gone long before he was traded.
  19. Couldn't the Twins just kidnap Joe Maddon (and his sabermetrics guys)?
  20. The only thing I've seen of note is that he has been taking extra work with Brunansky. Not unusual and given both his delay in getting started this spring and his struggles at the plate, a good thing.
  21. Thanks for the responses. I'm anxious to see how he does this year. He has looked more mature at the plate (from what we've seen so far) and he definitely looks more mature physically --- if he comes up to bat and I'm not thinking about who is up in the batting order, I'll think "who is that big guy" until I see his face. He can be spectacular in the field at times (and make you shake your head at other times) -- but that isn't so unusual. And part of maturing seems to be to get that to all come together. Seems like his head is in the right place.
  22. Great Article, Parker. I have a bit of a hard time seeing how he has a "lot less pressure on him" this year. I guess I can see less pressure from hitting down in the order but I'd appreciate a better understanding of why the pressure is so much less.
  23. I was actually in favor of some veteran leadership. It is what we got with some of the pitchers who were signed. And the mentoring factor of Suzuki to Pinto is an important one to me (Steinbach, too). But Kubel and Bartlett simply aren't what I think of when you say the words "veteran leadership". It blows my mind. This looks like "Gardenhire Comfort Zone" more than "veteran leadership". Blech.
  24. Overall, I hope that the starting pitchers pick each other up this year. Last season it just seemed like they were in such a downward spiral, nothing could jar them from it. This year with Deduno in the wings and what seems like a generally elevated staff, I hope that they can stop the bad streaks. Unfortunately, unless the Twins can find some way to manufacture runs, that doesn't necessarily mean stopping losing streaks. And that's got to be a little demoralizing, too.
  25. Good list, TwinsTerritory. I think that hits pretty much all the upside anyone could hope for. Now to see how much of it works out.
