  1. Not shocking that Duensing struggled quite a bit the 2nd time through the lineup, good news is they don't have any illusions and can now put him back into the pen where he is a nice asset.
  2. Votto hits .909 OPS against LHP in his career and currently leads the league in BA/OBP/SLG/OPS Pitching around Votto is not a bad play...
  3. No way, they want him focusing 100% of his attention on hitting/fielding, but mainly hitting.
  4. I don't disagree with that, but a guy like Duensing provides a very valuable piece to the team when he is in the bullpen, DeVries, Walters etc would only have value as a mop up guy in the pen. I just hope they don't fall in love with a few good innings from Duensing and assume he can be an answer to the rotation moving forward (into 2013) The Twins need to go into the off-season with the mindset that they need to figure out how to fill at least 4 rotation spots.
  5. Derp, my bad. Shows how close I am watching... either way Plouffe has been on fire recently so the hit and run there wasn't a bad idea.
  6. Hit and run, which is a good call on a 3-2 pitch with Plouffe (who mashes LHP) at the plate.
  7. It's one inning...not ready to crown him the savior of the rotation just yet, also in the past he proved to only be a mediocre option in the rotation.
  8. Both teams are quite awful and depressing, however I do have more hope this year than last year just due to the fact that Morneau and Mauer are both healthy and Willingham seems like he will be at least an equal and probably upgrade over Cuddyer. The rotation situation moving forward to 2013 is a complete and utter nightmare though.
  9. Yes, JJ Hardy is never going to be a hall of fame guy and prob won't make any all star games anytime soon. But the fact remains he is clearly the best SS the Twins have had in like 20 years. Defensively they have had no one better I could post UZR and other stats but its been done and if you truly believe Hardy wasn't elite defensively then frankly there isn't much to be said to combat it. Also for the record, I wasn't totally against trading Hardy, but getting a garbage, medicore no upside RP in return for him was laughable, and your replacement for him was an overpaid medicore Japanese player was just as absurd. Offensively the numbers speak for themselves: 2012: Dozier 56 OPS+ 2011: Nishioka 48 OPS+ 2010: Hardy 96 OPS+ 2009: O Cab 95 OPS+ (clearly a downgrade defensively, but FWIW they got rid of him as well for nothing) 2008: Adam Everett 48 OPS+ 2005-2007:Bartlett 82 OPS+ (Solid all around for a while, again, why the hell do you just toss him into the Delmon Trade? Also Hardy was better) 1999-2005: Christian Guzman 73 OPS+ 1993-1998: Pat Meares 73 OPS+ Again, Hardy isn't going to get confused for A-Rod, Tulo or Reyes anytime soon, but at the end of the day he still is the best option we have had in a long time, letting him go for freaking Jim Hoey when he still had a year of team control on him should go down as Bill Smiths biggest blunder, fortunately for Bill Smith though he had a couple other deals go down that out stunk that garbage.
  10. I think Vavra gets more crap then he deserves, but I wouldn't exactly describe him as "terrfific" I'd more or less give him a "meh", which is what you can give to the majority of major league hitting coaches.
  11. Well first the Twins would have to bring him back into the organization... but in all seriousness the clear answer is a 4th catcher.
  12. Glenn Perkins proven closer. Now trade both he and Capps
  13. Hey Pig, Can you fix the image thing on here where we can post full size images? Not little crappy thumbnails. kthxbye
  14. No link to your urban dictionary page?
  15. There wasn't one walk in last nights game.
  16. Only a complete moron would boo Mauer.
  17. The problem with a 75 pitch limit is a guy like Liriano (who is now our de facto "Ace") might only last 3-4 innings in a decent chunk of his starts. I don't care how good your bullpen is, any team you are asking 5+ innings out of them on something even close to a regular basis is a recipe for disaster. Also top to bottom I'm not sure the Twins have the pen to be able to do this, Capps, Perkins, Burnett and Duesning have all been swell, but how many innings can they possibly go in a week? Gray is terrible, Burnett is liable to get shelled at any moment now and the rest of the guys are ho hum or unproven as well. I would be more open to a 4 man rotation with a 100 pitch cap.

  19. I don't like it. Duensing should stay in the pen, hopefully this is only a one time spot start.
  20. Good God, can Mauer just tough it out for once in his freaking career? I like the guy plenty and rarely have a bad thing to say about him, but its time for him to actually be a leader and stay on the field as much as possible.
  21. If the Twins actually had a chance to compete I would be for it, but at this point you might as well keep testing out pitchers until you find a couple, also you don't want to over extended any of the young RP at this point.
  22. Dempster is not the answer and would get destroyed in the AL, plus some team will over pay for him for 2-3 years.
  23. The problem with over spending for a turd like Nishioka is the Twins already had a perfectly fine SS on the roster, that is the most frustrating. If they wanted to go make a high risk move then they should have tried to bring in a pitcher or a player that filled a need at the time.
