  1. He'd be fine at 3rd base where the two most important skils are: 1. Quick reaction time (Mauer Possess this) 2. Strong Accurate arm Range obviously helps as well, but I don't see that being an issue with him.
  2. Don't they have like 10 days to do so or something as well? Or other teams have 10 days to put in a claim? I'd have to imagine some NL team will take him in a heart beat as they'd only have to pay a percentage of the league minimum. Also, it could be possible that it specifically says in his contract that he can refuse a demotion if he chooses (and keeps his money) Either way, I don't think we will see him in Rochester anytime soon.
  3. Not to mention the last thing this team really lacks is RP in the minors, if the guy was a starter than by all means bring him in, but as a RP he would be pretty far down on the depth chart.
  4. That can't be right. The only reason he accepted the earlier start in AAA or was it AA? Was that the Twins guaranteed him to be back on the major league team by X date.
  5. He throws strike outs, which is a rarity in this system, however the Rays let him go, and the Rays are as savvy as they come, so if he wasn't good enough for them to keep around...I dunno. Couldn't hurt though.
  6. I knew you'd be all over this one Chief
  7. I'd be pretty surprised if an NL team wouldn't pick him up within a week.
  8. Typically teams pick these players before the season even starts (guys who will pitch in a blow out) hopefully the Twins won't need a position player pitching again anytime soon, but odds are Butera would probably be the guy to do it. (Since he isn't exactly a star who you worry about hurting) Also, once the Twins inevitably trade Doumit, Butera becomes the #2 catcher again basically by default..which is a good or maddening thing depending on a persons viewpoint.
  9. Guerra is out of options starting next year, if he continues to succeed in AAA you need to consider bringing him up soon, I'd be pretty surprised if he isn't on the team by the all star break, Sept is to long to wait IMO. I think Hendriks will be back up by then as well, not nesicarly due to him earning it, more just the rotation continuing to be terrible overall.
  10. Butera to Closer, Liriano to the rotation, Morneau to emergency third catcher, Doumit to starting catcher, Mauer to third, Capps to Golden Coral, Nishioka to Ft Myers, Joe Benson to a batting cage.
  11. Oh yes, the good old "my twitter was hacked" defense, as well as the "well other people did steroids, so who cares" defense. Also, is the fact that he plead guilty a misdemeanor somehow make his choking and beating his wife somehow better? Chuck is that you?
  12. No, that only makes him a pathetic drunk. The following makes him a scum bag: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/celebrity/sports/chuck-knoblauch Also this (warning NSFW due to language) http://tinyurl.com/3rsmotz
  13. You mean the wife that divorced his ass after he was arrested for beating the hell out of her? Then a year later made a bunch of racist tweets about her? Pretty sure he no longer lives with her and lives in and out of NY for the time being. As someone who lives in NYC a Chuck Knoblauch sighting is hardly uncommon, and in fact he is banned from at least one bar for drug issues (to much blow) but that was 3-4 years ago. Either way in addition to his more serious issues, the dude was a cheater (steroid/HGH user) and a jerk (with the way the Twins situation unfolded). So he certainly deserves this ridicule.
  14. Whoa, your alive?
  15. You can only gain "true" free agent rights after you acquire enough service time in the major leagues, if you are cut in the meantime you can sign with any team of your choosing, but if you happen to have a monster year you can't just go back onto the market and demand a multi year deal (imagine if this was the case for Josh Hamilton who was cut by numerous teams) The fact we have Burton for another year makes it more foolish to even consider cutting him, I'm not against trading him by any means, but you have to make sure you get some decent talent back as he isn't a guy you should just trade for anything (unlike Pavano, Doumit and possibly Jamey Carroll at this point)
  16. Yeah, exactly, its sorta like when the Red Sox signed David Ortiz as a "free agent" but he still had an additional year of arb eligibility which is why they ended up with 2 cost controlled years of him.
  17. What I am seeing is that he is arb eligible after this season, so the Twins can hold onto him and he can't become a free agent until 2014.
  18. Burton is a pretty nice arm, Gray on the other hands, while not awful is basically a replacement level player. It wasn't a bad signing by any means as it allows the Twins to have additional depth in the organization etc. The nice thing about Burton as well is that we could have him under team control next year as well. I believe he can become a free agent in 2014?
  19. http://youtastelikenachos.tumblr.com/post/23487381466/this-is-a-story-about-a-former-new-york-yankee Normally I don't root for a guy to hit rock bottom, but for Chuck I think I can make an exception.
  20. There is a big difference between Burton and Gray, Gray is basically organizational filler and has no upside, he will be gone soon one way or another, Burton, while not great is a guy worth holding onto for a bit, he is still striking guys out at the majors, always showed that ability in the minors as well.
  21. I'm sure he will get the call up soon enough.
  22. They are not turning Butera into a pitcher....the guy is 28 years old, if he had any legit shot as a pitcher he would have been converted sometime over the past 10 years. Just because a guy can throw a few balls 94 MPH over the plate with zero movement doesn't mean a whole lot.
  23. LOL, all-star selections are never based on a pitchers FIP. But yes, if he does pitch another 3-4 shut outs in a row I imagine he would be included...
  24. Screw that, I say we bring back Harrischer platoon!
