  1. Escobar may be nothing special, but he is a significantly better prospect then Florimon, anyone who says Florimon is a better option then Escobar is flat out wrong. The Twins have plenty of garbage on the 40 man, they shouldn't have to worry about making room.
  2. I'd also love for someone to point out the last time someone traded a 28 year old 5+ ERA pitcher(2 years in a row) for anything of substantial value in the past.
  3. Who else should they really trade now? If someone isn't offering good value for Morneau, Span, Willingham, Perkins, Burton etc there is no reason to trade them for the sake of trading them. I'm all for dumping Span if we get some good players in return, but if the offers aren't there you can't make the trade. People blast Ryan for taking a crappy package for Liriano and then they bitch about him not trading more players....yeah, that makes a ton of sense.
  4. How do we know the Twins didn't negoiate with Liriano for a new contract? Also, Liriano may have been the best "rental" available, but there have been reports on mlbtraderumors the past few weeks where teams weren't even sure if Liriano was a starter at this point. At the end of the day he is a guy who has posted a 5.09 and 5.39 ERA's in the past 2 seasons, we all know he is "better" than that, but it is what it is. Perhaps if Liriano would have went out in his last start and thrown 9 innings, 16k we could have got more, but instead he showed just what we have seen all along, which is that you never know which Frankie you will get game in and game out. It sucks we didn't get better players, but at the very least Escobar allows us to shed both Caroll and Alexi's salaries next year and he can serve as the Util guy (upgrade defensively and speed) while saving the Twins 5 mil next year. I have zero expectations for the pitcher they got, but who knows maybe they saw something they can fix. The most apparent thing is that we all overvalued Liriano's true value due to a nice run of 10 starts or so, and the Twins indicated that offering him a 12.5 mil contract for 1 year was not in their best interest. So the two choices were trade him for what we could now, or lose him at the end of the season. Lastly, other then Turner to the Marlins I'd say that the returns for every other player traded this trade season was very underwhelming, hell, the Angels got an Ace in Greinke and had to only give up one good prospect. It's not the end of the world. Let's see what else Ryan can trade this year and let's see what free agents he can pick up in the off-season before we go jumping off god damn bridges.
  5. Also it should be noted that perhaps at the end of the day there just wasn't much interest in Frankie. I mean look at who the angels gave up for grienke. The market was pretty weak this year it seems. Though I still wish they would have gotten him to stick around on a 2 year deal, maybe he will get homesick and resign in the offseason? One can hope...
  6. Who else can't wait until we face liriano for the first time though? That should be fun!
  7. I'm intrigued by the SS to be honest. We need SP no doubt but our MI depth in the org is awful. His results have been bad but maybe the Twins see something that can be improved. 23 isnt young, but at least there is still some potential improvement moving forward.
  8. Instead we got a hepatitis C prospect
  9. After his last start against them I'm guessing the white sox wanted him for bp
  10. Please don't compare berrios to Bundy. There is no reason to rush him at this point.
  11. If BS was still at the helm these last two games would have convinced him to be buyers at the deadline
  12. Lol so all of Ryan's great trades and pick ups were "luck" and the ones that didn't work out were his fault. A lot of great baseball minds in this thread.
  13. I think 60 is to low on Hicks for defense and I think 50 is to high for Arcia on Speed.
  14. Except Ryan has done a damn fine job as GM this year, unless you think the Willingham and Doumit signings were garbage?
  15. Buxton showing power this early is very exciting. arcia and hicks keep on hitting as well. This farm system is looking better by the day it seems!!
  16. Great trade for the Angels
  17. Damn, now we need to focus on convincing Ryan to trade Willingham for Bundy straight up.
  18. No need to rush to trade perkins at this point and his value with only get higher as he continues to flourish in the closer role.
  19. Most likely
  20. It's good to see Parmelee go back down to AAA and hit a couple HR, glad he isn't getting discouraged and I am anxious to see him get some regular at bats in the majors, which would happen if Span is traded.
  21. I wouldn't hold your breath on the make up happening today, the Northeast is looking like a mess again today.
  22. Trading for Felix would make zero sense for this franchise. We have finally built up a decent farm system again, there is zero reason to tear that down for a guy who would leave us in 2 years or become insanely expensive.
  23. Based on what you hear? Where? No way do the Orioles move Bundy and no way would the Twins not take Bundy back in a trade straight up for Willingham.
