  1. It's on MLBtraderumors.com, basically they want a team to take his entire contract AND get a major league/major league ready player back. I'd be sad to see the Canuck go, but if they could pull this off I wouldn't be opposed. If we got that 14 mil off the books next year Ryan could have some serious money to find us some SP help in free agency.
  2. The real question we need to ask ourselves is Mauer Overpaid?
  3. Do it Pig. Just make sure the whole login/posting is easy to do on amobile device, currently its a disaster
  4. I have moved states like 5 or 6 times in my life, only once was due to choice. I'd say the majority of people in this country have had to as well. It's really not that stressful. These guys are professionals, if they are concerned with outside issues (such as being the rumor of trades) they should keep it inside and continue to do their jobs. Just like everyone else is expected to do in their day to day lives. I still think the stress of playing in front of 40k fans and millions on TV is much greater then "oh we might have to move soon"
  5. Yeah, it should also be noted that there have been plenty of trades that have taken place weeks before the deadline in the past.
  6. I'm sorry what is the purpose of bringing up what happened to Marquis? What does that have to do with a player being traded? Are you comparing the potential death of a child to being potentially having to move to another city?
  7. There are 50+ or so players/prospects I would trade Sano straight up for at this point, unfortunately none of those teams would make that trade.
  8. I think the Twins would be much better served trying to sign him now while they have exclusive negoitating rights. Rather then get a couple C+ prospects and then having to compete and overpay potentially in the FA market.
  9. Sorry it wasn't in direct reference to you, just to the topic being brought up agian that Butera is somehow a big part of Liriano's resurgence.
  10. If he doesn't want to be traded, we should trade him and that will make him want to come back in the off-season? huh?
  11. I'd prefer to move Revere to 4th OF the second one of Benson or Hicks is ready to take over CF.
  12. Yeah, because all those 1 year 5 mil contracts we handed out to pitchers over the past decade have worked out so well. Think of it this way, we can replace Capps with Hunter!
  13. If we let Liriano go and give Ryan freaking Dempster 3 years/30 million my head just might explode.
  14. Didn't we dispell the magic Butera notion in the other thread?
  15. Yeah, I agree that I think there is plenty of stress just playing the game for these players, i.e. each at bat, the press etc, the idea that you may be traded should be at the bottom of that list IMHO.
  16. One team's junk is another team's...junk?
  17. He wasn't really a rookie in 2011 though (just under the 150 at bat threshold but you get the point), in 2010 he produced a similar line in 155 PA (.197/.237/.296) Even with his 2012 campaign his lifetime OPS is still at .505 (39 OPS+) in AAA he had a .582 OPS and in AAA a .616 OPS. As much as I hope he can get to that .620-.650 threshold of "ok we can live with this offensive production out of a third catcher" everything but his 2012 sample size points to this not being likely.
  18. If it's Hicks or Benson I think they should replace Revere in CF (All this assumes Span is gone by then, which he may not be) Ideally Revere ultimately ends up back as your 4th OF unless he can outperform Hunter. In a perfect world our end of year OF next year would be Willingham, Hicks (CF), and Arcia/Benson.
  19. Sometimes things in life don't go perfectly. If one of those things is being traded to another team (who has a better chance of winning now) while they still pay you multi millions a year, yeah I just don't see how that is really just that stressful. If you don't want to handle the "stress" that comes with being traded or speculated that you might be traded, then negotiate into your contract a no trade clause, I'm sure at the time the Twins would have been more than happy to grant Span a no trade clause if he would have accepted a couple million dollars less per season. I mean I imagine it would suck to be traded suddenly and would be an inconvenience to find a new place to live etc, but the nice thing is you would have plenty of money/help in order to get you situated quickly. I feel a lot worse for the throw in minor league guy who gets traded and is only making 50k a year.
  20. I'm not saying Hunter would prefer Minnesota over Texas, I'm saying Texas will probably not have the at bats for him nor the desire to bring him in. (unless they get rid of Hamilton+another OF) Also FWIW: Murphy and Moreland are both outpreforming Hunter by quite a bit, plus they have the advantage of being millions of dollars cheaper and not 37 years old. I find it funny you mention an aging Michael Young who still is 2 years younger than Hunter. Time to let this one go Lev and move on.
  21. Which they are already paying Michael Young 16 Million next year to occupy. I can't see Hunter being an option unless they: Lose Hamilton AND one of the following happens: 1. Trade Cruz 2. Trade/cut Young And even then its questionable.
  22. The problem with Butera though is that before this year he was literally one of the worst hitters in the history of baseball. If he can keep a 70+ OPS+ going, he isn't going to kill you. But if he hits like he did in 2011 .167/.210/.239 24 OPS+ (worse then several pitchers) over 250 PA (ugh) he is going to cost your team wins, no doubt about it. The question is: Can he continue to hit for at least a .625-.660 OPS? If so, he's not going to kill you.
  23. Craig Gentry is having a very nice year as well. If Profar comes up next season I wouldn't be shocked to see them move Kinsler to the OF. Either way at this point it appears the Rangers don't have a lot of roster spots for position players heading into next season (other then possible C/1B)
