  1. The problem with "taxing the hell out of it" is the black market for cheaper options will still exist. New York taxes the hell out of cigs here ($11-$12 a pack) and if you are at a bar on a Friday night there are often people walking around with backpacks full of cigs from other states selling them for $8 a pack. The same thing will happen with weed getting legalized possibly. If the cost is close to the same of what is was before for a user, then they will buy it legally. However if there is a significant mark up, they will simply use the dealer/delivery service etc they did before. Additionally I don't think legalizing hard drugs such as Meth, Heroin etc is a realistic option, frankly if you are dumb enough to to try either one even once (with all the info that is out there about the addictiveness/what it can do) , I don't have much sympathy for you, even if you are a friend/family. It's the equivolent of drinking 10 beers and then driving IMO, zero sympathy.
  2. What name calling? That I called him very stupid? Sorry, it is my opinion that if you try heroin (even once), you are indeed very stupid. Is it sad and tragic? Yes. Completely avoidable? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Completely selfish as he leaves behind 3 kids? Yes. Addiction sucks, but he knew what he was doing, plenty of other addicts have managed to not be so selfish/stupid. I respect your opinion, but this is a perfect example of how people think differently.
  3. As someone who enjoys the Seahawks very much, I find it refreshing to be able to "laugh" about losing PSH a talented (but very stupid) man.
  4. Not sure why that posted 3 times.
  5. Is this joke ok?
  6. Oh man, I had forgotten all about Dankind
  7. Yeah, for the most part I think moderation has been pretty well. I tend to think that they are a bit too quick to pull the trigger once in a while, but it is what it is. At least we don't have statfreak stinking up this joint.
  8. If we are looking for someone to play an elite OF/3B/2B and very above average SS, why don't we just bring in Mark DeRosa?
  9. If people don't want to sign Drew, thats fine. But to imply that the Twins have ANY legit in house candidates who will be anything more than a bottom third overall SS in this league is just wrong. Escobar is a fringe 25 man roster type on a bad team, on a good team he has no real place. Florimon can't hit, period. He is a slick defender, but I think he isn't truly "elite" defensively. He is nothing more than a stop gap.
  10. I was just upset at the time that my joke got deleted. It wasn't in even that poor of taste, contained no foul language etc.
  11. So just to be clear, the word boner is not allowed? This is a semi serious question, where do we draw the line on language?
  12. Sarcasm has no place in our society.
  13. Pelfrey also has some decent upside IMO....
  14. In re: to Baker. I think he has a better shot to crack the Mariners opening day roster then the Twins, who are pretty set at this point with Nolasco, Hughes, Pelfrey, Correia and whoever is out of options.
  15. Sano at 8 is ridiculous. Typical KLaw and his Twins hating ways....
  16. SP-Bailey, Nolasco, Hughes, Pelfrey, Deduno That rotation (once Gibson is up as well) is more than good enough to be .500 at least. Also I like the trade idea, however, trading Hicks while his value is bottomed out is not a good idea IMO (though I understand why you included him) Also I think they need to address SS
  17. FWIW: this is probably not breaking news by any means, but I spoke with that Jon Paley guy (director of the Sano film) at an event here in NYC back in April, says Sano is very intelligent and down to earth guy, but very confident. That to me bodes well for his mental makeup, where he should be able to over come any early set backs. The home run trot aside (and even that sounds un-intentional), I haven't heard one real negative thing about him.
  18. His Home Run power is instantly going to translate well in the major leagues, I bet if he played a full season he would easily top 30. It's those other parts of the game where he will likely struggle a bit with off the bat (Strike outs, Pitch Selection, Batting Average)
  19. I don't understand one bit why people would give him 2/30 and not 3/33. It really boggles my mind.
  20. Yeah, but nobody is saying to give him 50m over 4 years, or 4 years at all. Everyone is saying 2-3 years at 9-11 mil a year. At the very least you can assume he will be at least a 2.0 WAR player moving forward (good chance to be a 3.0 WAR player each of those three years) even at his worst he is "worth" the contract, and could actually end up being a "good" deal. Even more so considering the utter lack of any legit SS in the system ready to help anytime over the next couple seasons.
  21. You talk about him falling off a cliff, yet he puts up a very nice 111 OPS+ last season. Additionally, if you look further into his struggles against LHP in 2013, you will notice that he hit .682 against LHP who were starters, where did his numbers tank? He went 1 for 32 against non LHP starters, which points to: He struggles against "tough" lefties, simple enough, sit him against those "tough" lefties or PH for him if needed,he is still capable to start and hit against the non "tough" ones.
  22. .681 OPS against LHP isnt fantastic, but it doesn't scream "You need a platoon partner for him"
  23. That is a little silly Brock, Garza has had his injury issues throughout his career, but we have found out time and time again that he has been an asset worth trading for multiple times. Even if he did lose a year or whatever, there is a good chance he would bounce back the next year and be "tradeable"
