  1. I have, I am still getting 1 or two of those videos on 50% of my pages and all sorts of script errors.
  2. Also it doesn't come down to just "a few more million" if he turns into a stud the Twins could potentially save 15 million over the course of a few years. 15 million vs him potentially starting one or two more games in the majors in 2014. Like it or not its a pretty clear cut decision. Again, Meyer will still get plenty of chances to pitch in the majors this year and on into next year.
  3. No, it won't happen. As Seth said, Meyer not to long ago had a pretty rough stretch of 5 straight games. If they brought him up today they would probably be ok for super 2 status, but July 31st for sure. It's the biz of baseball.
  4. He was a damn fine player, prob one of the best 10 or so in franchise history. (Killer, Puckett, Carew, Olivia, Mauer, Morneau, Bert, Hrbek, Kaat, Knoblauch)
  5. Per Fangraphs: ormally, players must have accrued at least three years of MLB service time before they can be eligible for salary arbitration — or in other words, until they can negotiate their salary and not have it automatically set by their club. But certain players with less than three years of service time can also become eligible for arbitration, if they meet the following criteria: ● If they have less than three years of service time, but more than two. ● If they rank within the top 22% of all 2-year players in terms of service time. So if a player finishes a season and is just shy of three years of service time (say, 2 years and 171 days) then MLB will award them Super Two status and they’ll be eligible for arbitration. Since these players are still under team control for another three seasons, that means Super Two players get four year of salary arbitration instead of the typical three. The Super Two cutoff used to stand at 17%, but got changed to 22% in the new CBA negotiations. This means that if a team wants to keep a player in the minors until after the Super Two cutoff, they will have to keep that player in the minors for even longer than before. Considering that the cutoff used to fall sometime in June — it varied from year to year, as the 17% cutoff isn’t tied to a specific date — it will likely end up being in July going forward.
  6. It's a Super 2 issue as well, and yes I know the old "Twins being cheap" meme card will prob get played by someone, however it is prudent for them to wait these extra couple weeks to promote him, they could end up potentially saving 10-15 mil in arbitration in the future (money that could be used for other players) Now, if the Twins were 3 games back of the Tigers at this point, then I might be a little upset they are giving starts to Johnson etc instead of Meyer, however the Twins are pretty much done at this point and 2 extra starts in the majors instead of AAA for Meyer isn't going to affect how he does in the future very much at all, as Seth mentioned he still has some things to work on regardless, and when he is up July 31st he will still get several starts to "gain his experience"
  7. It is actually very simple: If you are a man and hit a woman (not to mention putting her head through a wall) you are a coward. There is no excuse to do so, unless you literally don't know right from wrong. I don't feel bad for him, he has had 10+ years to turn his life around, he chose not to. Fool me once, etc etc etc
  8. July 31st, as has been the plan for several months now.
  9. Not to sound callous, but almost every human goes through adversity like that at some point or another, we have all lost people close to us way before there time was up. Alzheimers is of course a very heartbreaking disease, but it doesn't give anyone a license to do what he did. Chuck Knoblauch is nothing more than a sad, sad coward, as only a coward would strike a woman.
  10. With that said, I think it is absolutely great that the Twins did the right thing in not only postponing the ceremony, but flat out canceling it indefinitely. I know the Twins "hall of fame" can be a bit silly at times, but it's good to see them basically taking the anti NFL "hell lets just give him a slap on the wrist" stance on this.
  11. Fair enough. I think it is a lot more complicated then that to be honest, and she is the mother to his three kids which of course complicates it even more and makes it that much more terrible. Battered wife syndrome is a very real thing and I think 100% of the blame should go towards Chuck on this one. It sounds like her only "crime" was trying to keep her children's father in their lives.
  12. July 31st is only six days away.
  13. Ah yes, nothing like a little victim blaming.
  14. No, I was having it way before the Morales news broke. It was literally that stupid ad that was freezing my browser, I eventually gave up and started surfing from the mobile site.
  15. I love how you have already told us how 2015 and 2016 are going to play out...
  16. I have nothing against Andrews, but she is a pretty bad "journalist", her interview with Wainwright during the all star game proved it. I don't understand why they would take Pam Oliver off, the NFL already gets every freaking eyeball in the country anyways, does anyone think that Erin Andrews is going to be the tipping point for some fan to watch the game? Oliver was actually a really good sideline reporter IMHO
  17. Two weeks?
  18. Brock I am going to email you them now, also it has popped up a "Twins daily is running xyz script and is blah blah blah, do you want to close it/stop running?" I will try to copy paste that URL the next time it comes. It's not even the video at this point that is frustrating, it is literally a corrupt ad that is really screwing things up.
  19. He could just be an alcoholic/drug addict. It's not a huge secret in NYC that during his time here he was actually banned from multiple bars for drugs/boozing to much. While you can never fully know about head injuries etc, it just appears to me that Knoblauch falls into the rather large group of having drug/booze issues and being an ******* at the same time. Then again, he may not have drug/booze issues and may just be a huge jerk, who knows. Sad story all around though.
  20. He is a boom or bust type guy, he is 24, throws 96 MPH and has had a little success in his cup of coffee in the majors. Org filler is a 28 year old Doug Bernier or Scott Diamond type. I know the Twins are a bit thin on OF at the current moment, but another 4th OF is very low on their needs moving forward as they already have Fuld.
  21. 40 man space is hardly an issue at this point for the Twins, there are SEVERAL players who can be taken off. In limited MLB action he has a 2.20 ERA or so and 35k in 32 innings and throws 96. I'm sure that is what the Twins like about him, maybe he never comes back from injury or maybe he just never is effective again, doesn't really hurt them and if Rick Anderson can work a little magic you are looking at a possible nice bullpen option who is cheap for several years.
  22. Catcher and SS are two of the most thin positions in all of major league ball, no team is going to give up a guy who has even a slight chance to succeed in the majors at either position for a guy like Morales who is owed a decent chunk of money and hasn't really been producing thus far.
  23. I'm glad they traded him instead of "signing him longterm" The return isn't much but the Twins have had some decent success at building bullpen arms, and he does throw 96....which is nice. Maybe Anderson can turn him into a useful piece for us moving forward.
  24. These video ads are out of control today and are really really slowing down this site/computer for me today. I am literally seeing them in every 300 x 250 zone and they aren't even loading correctly. Additionally the "content" after the random ass ads is terrible (USA World Cup Preview)
