  1. More upside. He's a frustrating pitcher to watch, he looks so dominate at times, then just loses control. I do like how the LAA are giving him plenty of shots to start though.
  2. Watched his start. The walks did him in, too many pitches. I think he ends up being a bullpen guy unless he cuts that out.
  3. Basically it's a good problem to have. Nobody in the lineup is really "hitting" themselves out of a roster spot. Maybe Buxton obviously, but he needs every day at bats.
  4. He has been sitting 1-2 times a week though.
  5. How is a .897 OPS in May part of the problem? And a .365 OBP since the rough start a problem? I do agree he should sit once to twice a week, but that is more for maintenance/health to keep him fresh. Not because of productivity.
  6. IMO there are still plenty of at bats to go around even with Mauer being the everyday starter at 1st. Few things: -Defensively Mauer is one of the best in the league, when you have Polanco at SS and Sano at 3rd, both of whom are still a little "iffy" it is imperative you have Mauer and his ability to dig out the tough throws. Vargas, while not Ortiz like at 1st base, is closer (at least with my eye test) to below average defensively at 1st. -As mentioned above, Mauer had a horrendous start to the season, but since then has turned it around: .797 OPS in his last 25 games and a .897 OPS in May, most importantly in his last 25 games or so he is getting on base at a .363 clip. -I'd prefer that Vargas gets 4-5 starts per week at this stage. 1 at the "cost" of Mauer, 1-2 at the "cost" of Grossman and 1-2 at the "Cost" of Rosario or Kepler (against LHP). Very doable. If the Twins fall 10 games out of the hunt, then yes, he should probably be taking some more at bats away from Mauer, but while they are in contention? nah.
  7. Mauer had a rough and unlucky start to the season, but in his last 25 game is sporting a .797 ops with a .364 OBP and gold glove defense, no way should he be out of the lineup. So far in May he has a .897 ops as well. Mauer ain't the problem.
  8. Yeah I'd rather give the everyday at bats to Vargas. Grossman, id still look into trading him for pitching help IMO
  9. Vargas is fine now for the DH spot, but it doesn't mean the Twins should stop looking to upgrade it. I wish they would have traded for Joey Gallo like I wanted them to!
  10. Yeah Hughes and Mejia could be ok. But the reality is likely one will either fail or get injured (ditto with santiago). A guy like Richard would help stabilize things immensely. (And even opens up the possibility of Hughes to the pen eventually?)
  11. I'd do both. It's not like a guy like Richard or the like is going to take a whole lot to get. Just send over a guy who is a 20-30 prospect and maybe a PTBNL.
  12. You can read about them in my upcoming book
  13. It's not really baseless, Rosario had shown more success at the major league level then Hicks (who was traded at his rock bottom value imo) Rosario would be a damn fine CF for many teams, he doesn't hit enough to be a good corner Of, but CF? I think he would be above average overall, which is why at the time I feel like he could have gotten a beturn return then JR Murphy It's not so much about his prospect rating, those go out the door once a guy closes in on 1000 major league at bats in my opinion.
  14. I dunno about that, he looked like a 21 year old who struggled with his first cup of coffee, that is what usually happens with pitchers on all teams.
  15. The Twins aren't just one RP away IMO. They are at LEAST two. Bring up Burdi, yes, but still work on upgrading some of the rest of the pen. Can't have enough solid arms. Duffey, Kintzler and Rodgers are the only ones I sorta trust at this stage, plenty of room for upgrades.
  16. Texas will likely fall out of the race, also Darvish will fetch a kings ransom.
  17. Pretty awesome movie on its own if folks never saw the first or weren't a fan (not sure why) of the first. But as a sequel for folks who loved the first? Dare I say the perfect sequel, simply amazing.
  18. I wasn't saying it was a good thing or bad thing, just kinda interesting. Even without Berrios I think the Twins have shown they can "compete" for a playoff spot. I'm not saying to go "all in" and give up the farm for Darvish. But aim to bring on a couple solid RP and maybe a legit mid rotation guy as well. I think you could acquire all three without giving up more than 2 of your top 15 prospects (6-15 range)
  19. I love how this has evolved into a debate and discussion about seams on baseballs.
  20. Screaming Trees are one of my favorite bands of all time. Though it's the "next" NW generation: I love that Built to spill and Modest mouse still put out great music. Combined I have seen them at least 40 times now in about 15 different states.
  21. IMO Vargas doesn't look like a guy who projects to be an everyday DH. He can be a solid bench bat, but I'm going to hold off until he is more consistent to complain about him not getting in the lineup everyday. Also defensively Mauer>>>>>>>Vargas by far. Hopefully Park gets healthy ASAP
  22. Bitcoin about to hit $2000
  23. This is what bugs me the most, I for a couple years have been saying Rosario is the one who should have been shopped, and the crazy thing is: he would have maybe brought back a much better package then Hicks anyways! (Due to early success) Ugh.
  24. Bullpen definitely needs outside help, and fast. They need to try to get 2 "legit" RP via trade IMO.
