  1. "Non refundable boom daddy to the chin!"
  2. If your only option is Pelfrey for game 163, I think you have to go with a bullpen game at that point as it's your best shot. 3 innings from May, 2 innings from Tonkin, 2, innings from Fien/Cotts, 1 inning from Perkins, 1 inning from Jepsen. If the option is a 3 man rotation in the playoffs or a 4 with Pelf, you have to go with a 3 man rotation. Since June he has 19 starts, a 5.62 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and opponents are batting .335/.381/.464 against him. (Which is pretty much the season splits for Francisco Lindor over this whole season, that means that Pelfrey makes every batter he faces look like Lindor at the dish) Not good, can't be trusted period, especially can't be trusted against good PLAYOFF teams. Stick him in the pen.
  3. He looked great yesterday, but the Twins also spotted him a 5-0 lead, so he wasn't exactly pitching in "high leverage" situations, which is where he has struggled most. Again, looked great, no complaints, I know this post is done very tongue in cheek, but I'm still very concerned about him in high leverage situations moving forward. Is he solid mid to back end rotation guy currently? Of course, but I for one am hoping he can make that next step and become a #2 type, something this team has desperately needed for a very long time.
  4. The Astros series is what really worries me, I just don't see a loss in those last 3 games. They have their stud pitchers lined up (I could be wrong) I'd say the odds are as followed in that series: Astros Sweep: 50% Astros win two of three: 40% Astros lose 2 or 3: 10% Twins simply need to win out.
  5. Highly unlikely that both things happen. Can't count on either. Gotta aim for 4-06
  6. Houston wins. Twins now need to go 4-0 and hope Houston loses one of three vs Arizona to force a game 163. Not. Good.
  7. Astros win tonight, up 1 game in the loss column on the Twins. 3 games left at a TERRIBLE Diamondbacks team. Absolutely the Twins can't expect more than one loss from the Stros, which means, the Twins need to go 4-0 the rest of the way and hope Houston drops one game against Arizona to get into at least a one way "tie" for the wild card. At least the Twins know what they need to do now. Win. Win. Win. Win and pray that the Diamondbacks find a way to win ONE game.
  8. "That's it Ramirez, no in between at bats beers for you in the clubhouse for the rest of this series!" "Damn coach, thats rough! Lighten up!" "Ok, you are right, sorry, no in between at-bats beers next game between your 2nd and third at bat!"
  9. 1st off: Who cares. 2nd off: Who cares, you were getting your ass kicked, you should be upset more at Pelf then a dude hitting a bomb in a meaningless game. 3rd off: Seriously? who cares, you are in the middle of a playoff chase, who cares that some guy flipped a bat. 4th off: You still upset? Fine, go talk to a counselor. Suzuki, frankly, I would love to see you put that sort of effort in a throw down to 2nd one of these days. 5th off: Ok? You want retribution? Ok! Do it in 2016, early season perhaps. 6th off: Oh You need it now? Seems like a 10-2 game would have been a good time to exact "revenge" with a RP you wont need the rest of the year. 7th off: Oh, wait, you want it tomorrow due to some unwritten "rule"? Lol. No. Grow up Gardy/Suzuki/every baseball writer born before 1950.
  10. Oh, I am not high on Milone or Hughes at all at this point (due to injury/dead arm etc) if it were up to me, Berrios would be in the rotation as would May. (And I would have bribed whoever I needed to in MLB to let Santanas "failed drug test" go lost) But it is what it is. I trust Milone and Hughes much more than Pelf at this point. Heck, I'd rather just go with a bullpen game then Pelf at this stage in the playoffs. Good hitters MASH him.
  11. Mariners awesome super sweet pen gives up a 3 run BOMB to Carter on a 0-2 count. 6-6, top of 6th.
  12. It could be just me, but the Twins seem to have been hitting very well lately off "hard throwers with good stuff" and hitting a bit worse against "pitch to contact types" Kluber, Sale and Carrasco are the examples that immediately come to mind. If this is a trend, it couldn't happen at a better time (especially if the Twins happen to make the playoffs) Mauer looked great in game one, hopefully he has like two more games like that in him the rest of this regular season.
  13. Cruz goes back to back! 6-3 Mariners.
  14. Seager with a BOMB. Mariners up 5-3, 5th inning.
  15. And Gomez....pulls a Gomez.... in the field. Astros up 3-2 5th inning but Mariners have guys on 1st and 3rd now, no outs.
  16. The Twins are literally in the middle(end) of the playoff hunt. They would be beyond foolish to try to pull any such crap. The only scenario I would be ok with: Twins up by 7 runs or more, bottom of ninth, Ramirez at that plate, Nolasco or someone else on the mound who wont be on the playoff roster. Then by all means, throw at him. If that isn't the scenario? Let it go, or wait until 2016 for your stupid and silly payback.
  17. The Mariners bullpen makes Garham, Duensing and Boyer look like the cmobined second coming of Mariano Rivera. In Nelson Cruz and Cano we trust?
  18. I have had a lot of issues (LOL) with the handling of some of the personal decisions and game managing decisions this year. But I'm not a fan of going back and second guessing specific moves or games at this point. For every game the Twins "lost a heartbreaker" they likely had one they won where they had no business winning (See: All those Chris Sale wins, the last two Kluber wins, and that amazing 7 run 9th inning comeback against Detroit) Here they are, 4 games left. If Houston loses tonight, they control their own destiny sort of (4-0 gets them a tie for the wild card) even if Houston wins, 4-0 gets them to a tie like 80% of the time. Hard to ask for more than that at this moment.
  19. No, I hope he doesn't get one more start even if we win every series in 5 games, 7 games and 7 games (World Series) Playoff Rotation: Gibson Duffey Milone Hughes
  20. This freaking Astros game is going to end so poorly. The Mariners are such a disaster of a team.
  21. Mariners give up a bomb. 2-1 (Mariners) top of 5th.
  22. If Houston loses to Seattle (down 2-0 Early) twins still essentially control their own destiny, going 4-0 gets them to a tie at worst. Go Mariners!
  23. A's you dumb lucky bastards! Seattle up 2-0. Go Mariners!
  24. Iwakuma is a FA after this season apparently. Oops Other guys I would look at: Matt Moore, Stephen Strausburg.
  25. Big game james shields? Iwakuma seems like a nice target as well, I believe he has one more year left on his contract? Mariners could use a bat like arcia and a guy like polanco maybe as well? Jose Fernandez would be a pipe dream type but the price would be insanely sky high.
