  1. In Luverne none the less, which is where the waffle hut shooting was. I have a few more long thoughts on the UFO stuff I will type out later.
  2. Um no. It would not take Buxton+Sano+Berrios+Rosario
  3. I would give up Buxton straight up for Fernandez, but to say you would rather give up Buxton instead of Berrios is just perplexing, I'm not so sure it's people are so down on Buxton as it's people are just assuming Berrios is some future ace, which is setting expectations way too high IMO.
  4. Or Harper..
  5. Really? Kepler is a 1st base RF type who while is a nice prospect doesn't project to be a .330 hitter or hit 30+ HR. Berrios is a nice prospect, but his height leads many to believe he is closer to a #3 then a number one. Rosario is a league average CF and Stewart is a lottery ticket. FWIW: The Twins got a much better package (at the time) for Santana who had only one year remaining under team control, Fernandez has 3
  6. Dozier, Hughes, Plouffe, Perkins, etc don't have any real value for the Marlins as they are all just a couple years away from FA. Rosario+ May+Meyer could draw some interest back as all have plenty of team control left. Berrios+Kepler+Stewart+Rosario seems like a good starting point.
  7. It would have to start with Berrios+Kepler+ another top prospect (Gordon, Stewart) etc But yes, I would do that in a heartbeat. I would give them Buxton for him straight up in a heartbeat as well. But that prob isn't enough.
  8. Storen is 27 years old and is coming off a season where he had a 11 k/9 rate....he wouldn't be cluttering the pen or roster at all, in fact there is a very good chance he would be our best bullpen arm...
  9. That is a great point. If he pitches like he did in 2012-2014, he easily would be able to get another 4 year deal.
  10. Kris Bryant isn't a millionaire yet.
  11. I'm curious why you think he would be "exposed" in two straight seasons he has pitched 200 plus innings at an ACE like level (3.08 ERA and 2.73 ERA) He also is only 25, so he still should keep improving as well.
  12. Back to Gray. If he is truly available I would love to see the Twins get him. A package centered around Berrios would be a no brainer for me. I would probably even give up Berrios+Kepler if needed (but would rather toss in a few more mid range prospects instead of Kepler) Young, 200IP, sub 3.00 ERA guys don't grow on trees..
  13. Would have been the Twins 2nd best pitcher numbers wise.
  14. Yup, I am a big fan of his career, going on 19 years now as a major league catcher, that alone deserves a ton of respect. Additionally, AJ has never had any internal "beefs" that I am aware of, does he get under the other teams skin? Sure, but who cares! Michael Jordon was one of the biggest trash talkers of all time (also of note, he was a complete Dick to his teammates) but does any of that tarnish his value? On the personal side of things AJ is married, has two kids and has never been in any legal trouble. Funny how Twins fans can hate him for a little bit of trash talk, yet we still have a street named after a player who abused at least two women, one of which was his own wife. Papelbon likewise has had no personal issues or legal issues come up.
  15. I'm glad you can agree with me on that.
  16. A slimmed down Sano? Source? Last I read he was at 268 pounds, show me a good defensive OF that size. So yeah, basically you either have Sano and Arica in the corners, or Sano and Robinson in the corners to start the year (or Robinson in CF and Rosario in the corner) either way you either have a terrible OF defense with Arcia and Sano in it, or you have a guy like Robinson who can't hit taking every day at bats in the OF. Either way it's setting yourself up for failure off the bat in 2016 (until Buxton or Kepler are ready, and frankly that could be July or later on both counts) Of course they could have a trade or FA signing in the works, I just don't see it at this stage, and Ryan continually has been beating the "Sano to the OF" drum this whole (short) off-season thus far.
  17. I'm totally with the teams doing what they are doing, the union never should have gave in on this to begin with. I don't think he wins it, but by filing the grievance it sets this stupid rule to get phased out in the next CBA anyways.
  18. This signals that it is now almost a lock that Storen or Papelbon will be traded, the Twins would be wise to go after both.
  19. It certainly wouldn't be a good swap. Upton is owed 6 million more than Nolasco for starters, and I'm not so sure the Twins will make Upton a 4th OF when it is "time", more often then not they have given veterans way too much leash, wouldn't shock me to see it here. If you want a no hit 4th OF, Revere was there for the taking.
  20. And last note, after having the audience feel somewhat sympathtic towards hanzee last week, they showed him killing the innocent shop keep and revealed that he strangled Peggy's innocent boss. That is some good TV writing.
  21. Also loved that Martin Freeman (Lester) came back to narrate this episode.does hanzee go down as the all time greatest Coens brother villain? I think so. Pretty awesome considering he seemed to be nothing but a side character off the bat.
  22. Oh man, I loved the episode! The UFO stuff is still random and a bit unclear but it's not like it dominated much, it more or less just lead to Lou getting the upper hand in a fight. Wow, intense hour of TV. Peggy and Ed slip away again, can't imagine both stay alive after next weeks episode but who knows. Hanzee went full rogue after all. Most shocking of all: we never saw the KC vs Gerhardt show down we were all expecting, by all accounts the Gerhadts are now all dead, no? That's a nice misdirection.
  23. If Terry Ryan can trade Nolasco for anybody on the Padres not named Melvin Upton I will consider that his best trade/move in a long time.
  24. Couple notes: 1. In regards to the Papelbon thread, these things happen and are UNION pushed. 2. With the CBA coming up for a new agreement, these will happen more and more. 3. Twins should take note, if Berrios kills it in ST and is clearly one of the Twins best options, this could come to effect them as well. All things considered, I think it's B.S overall that teams can keep a guy down an extra two-three weeks to keep him cheap/keep him from reaching FA a year earlier, the owners and leagues make a ton of money, players should be able to get their fair market value when they earn it (not because a team like the Cubs kept you down a few weeks into the season)
  25. You can hold that opinion, but he is only 34, not 40. He never was a "power pitcher" anyways, so he should be able to age better then those types anyways, he had 4 very, very productive years followed by one not as productive year but solid year anyways (make no doubt about it, a sub 4.00 ERA and 200+ IP is still productive) So either Shields had an outlier bad year, on a bad team that under-preformed all around or that Shields at 33 is toast. I think the former is the more likely scenario and you seem to content that the latter is the scenario. That ok, we can disgaree. But in terms of getting rid of Nolasco, and bringing in Shields (+39 million for 3 years or whatever) I tend to think the risk is well worth the potential reward. $13 mil a year that we would essentially owe him in this deal basically comes out to just a couple million less than what we paid Pelfrey+Stauffer last year. They can afford this "risk" all day, especially when his absolute floor still seems to be a guy who will give you 200IP, a good k rate and a sub 4.00 ERA regardless.
