  1. Yeah, people need to remember that he would still be in college at this point. I imagine the plan is for him to start in A+ again, if he does well and somehow makes it to AA by the end of the year, that is such a huge win for the Twins overall, having a guy 21 at AA would be awesome.
  2. Milone would fit in well with the Nats, I feel like they have lacked some good #5 options over the years. I guess it all depends on how fractured the relationship is with Storen and the club, if I were the Nats I would want to keep him around to give them a really nice 8th/9th inning bullpen.
  3. I think we are still kinda far away, as long as "proven closers" are getting paid big bucks in arb, FA and via trades I don't think we are gonna see it go away anytime in the next few years. That is why Storen was so upset about losing the closer role, it had nothing to do with him pitching in the 7th or 8th instead of the 9th, it's because every save he DOESN'T get costs him a very significant amount of money in arb and ultimately on the FA market.
  4. I'd say our lineup resembles the Mariners, our rotation? Not sure.
  5. I still wish the Twins would have traded for Sanchez, I know it would have taken more than Hicks, but I wonder if they could have enticed them with a package around Kepler and Polanco?
  6. The division titles were very nice, but damn, it would been great to see them make a deep run to the title one of those years, especially with Johan anchoring the rotation. It also wouldn't "sting" as much if they didn't get swept all those times in a row as well, losing a playoff series is sad enough, but when you are never really "in" those series to begin with at any point (i.e. don't win a game) it sort of puts an additional sting to it. Hopefully the next round of Twins studs are due for some nice luck when they make the playoffs, I will take 12 straight wins to erase the 12 straight losses any day
  7. Cuddyer was one of my favorite Twins, he had a hell of a career and will be remembered fondly here. His versatility and "late bloomer"type career make it that much easier to like him and what he brought to the Twins. Looking back, the Twins would have been best served if they would have kept him around a couple more years. Re: Players tribune, I am a bit disappointed on what it ultimately is, when it was pitched it was supposed to be an area for players to connect with fans on a more personal level(real level). 99% of the stuff on the site is just PR fluff IMO, it would be nice to have a platform where athletes could be more "real" but that is what twitter is for I guess, plus they all have to "protect" their brands.
  8. I can't disagree with this more, we have always known Stewart was going to take some time to develop, he was a top 30 prospect prior to last season, and as a 20 year old in A+ he actually held his own (3.20 ERA) He likely will still be top 50 top 75 across the board coming into this season and his potential is still very high, I like Burdi, but no way do I value a power relief arm over a potential top of the rotation SP. People will point to Stewarts k/9 numbers etc but everything I have read from Keith Law and the likes say he is progressing nicely and the K's will come. We gotta keep in mind that Stewart was a high school pitcher when we snagged him, which is rare for the Twins to do that high, so our patience level needs to be higher for him.
  9. McGee is the exact type of guy the Twins should be targeting, he is a great to elite bullpen arm, he is under control for 2 seasons as well. I'd give up a nice package to get him, I saw Stewarts name mentioned earlier but I would prefer we don't trade him at all. Polanco+Meyer+Rogers maybe? Rays get a good up the middle prospect back and a couple of potential decent bullpen arms.
  10. Stupid and a waste of time for the state government to be doing this crap. Nothing a proxy and using my girlfriends folks house for an address won't fix...
  11. It would NEVER happen, but if the Twins had Storen, Perkins and Jepsen I would love to have them basically rotate the 7th/8th/9th innings to whoever was best suited for the various batter/pitcher match-ups. I think it is such a waste when a closer won't pitch for 4-5 games because: 1. Their team is never in a save situation (down a 1 run or two or tied late)
  12. That would be a perfect deal for the Twins.
  13. With Storen you also would get a draft pick in 2017.
  14. Rendon plays third in 2016 with Turner in the Mix at SS
  15. They are moving him to 3B full time, he played 2B because Escobar was at third base.
  16. The first one is not bashing, its accurate observation. The second one was bashing, and I take that back.
  17. No you just trade gold glove SS for them...
  18. Nobody is "bashing" Ryan in this thread, we are critical of him, good lord. The only way Ryan is "right" is if Jones never does anything in the majors and Dean somehow becomes a major league pitcher for a year or two. If both "flame out" it was still the wrong decision since Jones had/has/always has had upside while Dean does not. This would sorta be like keeping Doug Bernier on a 40 man over Niko Goodrum. (Not the best comparison, but you get what I am getting at)
  19. Not many "shut down/great" guys left though, and while we could trade for one, I much rather would have given one a 3/18 year contract instead of getting into a bidding war for a RP, personally. There were plenty of great options available for reasonable deals, how we didn't jump in is beyond me. More disappointing is that this basically cements May to the bullpen, which IMO is a terrible move.
  20. Oh you mean two guys that were mediocre prospects who never cracked a top 100 list? Not sure why this is relevant to Bethancourt, who btw isn't a reclamation project. He was top 100 heading into 2015, had a great year at AAA and struggled at the major leagues, you act like he is Dallas McPherson or something.
  21. The problem is most of the top RP are now off the board. You yourself said they need two more good ones.
  22. Excellent point and I have to agree with your question. The Twins signed Ricky Nolasco early on in the off-season a couple years ago as well, they overpaid him quite a bit, which is not a good idea for an "average" player.
  23. Also there is no reason whatsoever why Bethancourt couldn't be good and contribute in 2016 for the Twins anyways, he put up an .840 OPS in AAA last year, did he struggle in the majors last year? Sure, but plenty of great players struggle early on. It isn't out of the realm of possibilities that he plays well in 2016 and continues to improve from there on.
