  1. No. These stories take a while for things to come out, in the case of Edwards it was a couple weeks before the other shoe dropped, and boy, did it drop. If all this were truly made up out of thin air, then Cruz would have already moved to sue the enquirer and their sources, of course no such action has been taken or even hinted at. Cruz (or his people) are smart enough to realize that any lawsuit would result in a discovery phase, which if he has nothing to hide would be fine, but if he did have something to hide, then uh oh! Also this story has been verified by other reputable reporters, I know in the internet age we want immediate follow ups/updates to the story, but make no mistake, everyone is now working on this story and it will "break" again soon enough.
  2. He still took some bizarre jabs even in his apology, I guess he couldn't resist: .....whether it was at right field, third base, first base or even at his best position, designated hitter...... ......At the moment, Sano would be a pitcher’s worst friend at third base and there’s no evidence that he would be capable at first base......... Unreal. Frankly, I want him to apologize for implying that Sano is broke because he isn't smart enough to manage his money. I asked him about it on twitter (the first time I have ever used twitter in my life) and was immediately "blocked"
  3. Agreed. I is personally wish they took this same approach with May.
  4. .255/320/.390 Which I would consider a pretty good "rookie" season to be honest for how raw he is.
  5. People can bash Mauer all they want for his performance (I don't agree with it but whatever), but claiming he isn't smart and doesn't see the shifts is a huge stretch IMO. I'm pretty sure he knows what is going on, not only is this from watching him play, reading his interviews etc but also knowing people who grew up with him and know him personally. If he can keep his k rate down, good things will happen regardless of shifts, if he can find a little bit of his old power/pop he ends up being a .830 or better ops type guy IMO
  6. I don't think at this point Sanos injury set him back too much, it's hard to think that his 21 year old season could have ended up too much better than it did. Buxton is an interesting one, the extra at bats certainly would have helped, but it is what it is, maybe it ends up saving the twins a year of team control ultimately on one or both? It's not like the 2014/2015 twins would have stood much of a shot in the playoffs etc with the Royals amazing playoff teams.
  7. That's a valid point no doubt, however I still think the jump to the NBA game (more games, longer games, faster pace, immensely better talent etc) is still very signicant even in the case of upper classmen. I still prefer the idea of drafting Hield and letting him lead the (2nd) team and maybe winning 6th man of the year to boot Seems like a good way to ease a guy in.
  8. Deadspin did a great job at the too, oh and the wire which by Internet law must always be brought up when talking about epic TV shows
  9. HUT is especially good this year in NHL 16, I also like playing the drop in games (where you control one player only) goalie and D are my preferred choices. Do you play online at all?
  10. At this point I don't really care if they cut him or not, if he continues to be a terrible SP for this team then all I hope is they move him to the bullpen ASAP. You can survive having a pen that has a mediocre to bad mop up guy.
  11. It really isn't that hard to just get MLB tv and run through a VPN or use a location spoofer.
  12. You mean lifetime .982 ops Mark McGwire who averaged 50 HR per 162 games? I will take that.
  13. I'm an Xbox guy these days, but the reviews of MLB the show is having me contemplate getting a ps4. As far as gaming goes: NHL 16 is a fantastic game, as is rocket league.
  14. I agree with this post, but would add that I think that Sano could also handle 3B for a couple years as well.
  15. Park or Plouffe in RF with Sano at DH or 3rd don't sound like "worse" ideas to be honest. It's also worth mentioning that nobody forced the Twins to go out and sign Park either. I think Park can be a solid player and hope he hits 30 bombs a year, but let's not pretend for even one second this wasn't a 100% avoidable situation heading into the off season.
  16. I don't see a whole lot of axe grinding going on personally, and don't see an issue with the thread, but to each his own I suppose.
  17. I keep hearing about "two pitch Duffey" yet I remember that same Duffey that almost single handedly (Santana helped as well) kept that rotation together and kept the Twins in the hunt. Duffey actually already has three pitches: 2 seamer, 4 seamer and a curve. Working on a change up will help no doubt, but it's really hard to argue with his results when it counted the most last year. Results that weren't luck based either as his era was right in line with his FIP and his k/9 was over 8.4 Also it never had to come down to Duffey vs Nolasco for the 5th spot. It could have come down to May v Duffey v Berrios v Nolasco if it were a true "open" competition. Berrios in the minors for a month to save money? It still comes down to three choices. Two of which are superior over Nolasco. Honestly the best case scenario for the twins is for Nolasco to have Nolasco like results as a twin, but they find a way to win his stars 8-7 or 10-8 etc hopefully after 5 eggs being laid they can be smart enough to bring up Duffey or Berrios and send Nolasco to the pen. If he sucks in the pen for a month or two, just cut him loose.
  18. Come on you are better than this.
  19. Good point. I also like they have already gotten him back into his own practice. There is only so far the jimmy doesn't fit in with a big law firm storyline could go.
  20. Come on man, you can claim Perkins can be a "bust" or that he has struggled, but I believe there was another thread that proved that Perkins didn't "lose" anything close to 5-7 MPH As far as the home brewing bit, come on now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that whatsoever. You might be shocked to learn that 80%+ of MLB players enjoy a beer now and then (or even more often!) Claiming that being a home brewer is a reason for him "busting" is just silly.
  21. Yeah, I always assumed that the 13-14k wasn't Jimmy. Also, I don't think he was "stealing" that money to "steal it" from his dad, part of me thinks he took the money from the register so his dad wouldn't find out about the cigarettes being sold (and thus shattering his world view) Jimmy could have told his dad immediately that he confirmed the guy was a scammer, but didn't as it clearly would have upset his dad quite a bit. It's also interesting that at least in all the flashbacks, the only people that Jimmy "scams" are essentially as he put's it "douche bags/rich douche bags" not saying that makes it "right" but I doubt he would be ripping off honest people as that would remind him of his father.
  22. Overall I don't mind the movie (on it's own) I just think it could have been so, so, so much more since the source material is pretty much perfect IMO. I think Snyder missed a few key points from the original Graphic Novel, not the least of which being the violence aspects of it. I still hold out hope that someone does Watchmen correct. I am thinking a 6-8 part miniseries on HBO.
  23. Yeah, I just think calling Hillary pro war is pretty inflammatory overall. If you want to use that label, then by all means apply it to Dick Cheney, Carly Fiorna and maybe Donald Trump?
  24. If you guys want you can delete this topic, however I think it should remain open for others to chime in on personally.
  25. Posts more or less accusing Miguel Sano of "lying" about a sick grandparent in order to get out of....well to get out of nothing really since it is the off-season is ok, but responding to said comment is delete/warn/ban worthy? I'm sorry, but I stand by my original post, it's absolutely disgusting to accuse/punish/admonish a player for caring about a sick family member. If that is ban worthy, then go ahead and ban me.
