  1. There is plenty of time this offseason. Don't need multiple rule 5 picks today
  2. Per Bobby Nightengale, McCusker outrighted off 40 man and is set to find a team potentially in Korea for next season. Wish him well. That also means they have an open 40 man spot. Rule 5 draft is today at 1pm central.
  3. Only because I read this from Aaron Gleeman last night. The Twins have picked 3rd in the draft two other times prior to the pick they earned for 2026. They took Willie Banks in 1987, and David McCarty in 1991. All of that means the player they will take in 2026 will probably not work out, but it DOES mean they win the world series in 2026, right? :)
  4. I can't be the only one who ONLY thinks about one specific situation that happened when I see Reese McGuire's name, am I?
  5. If they are going the trade route, I'm going to throw out that Yandy Diaz from Tampa would be really fun to have here. Plus being a free agent after 2026, he SHOULDN'T break the bank in terms of trade assets. They've certainly made a number of deals with Tampa before too.
  6. Maybe Joe Ryan was the friend they made along the way?
  7. Yes, but that's only if Realmuto 1) Agrees to sign here and 2) comes at that amount. Why would he sign here when Boston is in on him and probably offers 2/36 or more? Something something bird in the hand right?
  8. I'd very much be open to moving Wallner or Erod or GG in the right deal. No doubt.
  9. I'd argue trade capital isn't in any way limited. They have a LOT of outfielders both on the 40 man and in the upper minors. They also could look at moving Bailey Ober since they aren't trading Lopez or Ryan. There are a ton of options to make moves and clean up the roster in my opinion.
  10. The plan for the start of the year has to be decided well before then, hopefully in the next week or so. I more meant, let's say they do start the 2026 season with a payroll of 110 million. Just as a hypothetical. That amount isn't LOCKED in for the entirety of the season. They could certainly have a payroll of 75 million in August 2026. They could also have a payroll of 125 million in August 2026. I just meant the 2026 payroll can and is mostly likely going to be fluid.
  11. See, I think they could trade something else to get a 1B. I agree they need a good middle of the order type. I don't know that Jeffers is the one to move yet because they really don't have anything that is ready behind him. But I do agree they need a 1B/DH that can be a middle of the order type.
  12. Agreed. Just saying that's the last resort, but also a decision to trade him wouldn't at all have to happen this offseason. It's not a RUSH for that. Frankly, payroll for 2026 doesn't have to be fully decided on March 1 either. That's not a bad thing.
  13. I agree in that his defense alone isn't strong. But he is experienced and from everything I can tell calls a good game. I don't think he has to hit .300, but if he can catch 110 games this year and stabilize the catcher position for 2026, that's someone you would want to keep for 2027 (if there is a season.)
  14. And one season of that salary is something any team could absorb. Curious how this will change if the 2027 is affected. For example, if the season is delayed and starts in June, the QO then for 2027 would probably be half that right?
  15. First, the QO is probably the worst option, but it is something to be on the table. So by the deadline they would realistically need to fetch value AT LEAST as much as the draft pick they would receive if he signs elsewhere. But extending Jeffers shouldn't be impossible. It's not THAT much money in the grand scheme of things. And the Twins very likely could play better in 2026 and be relevant going into August 2026. That's certainly not laughable as of today, 12/8/25.
  16. Festa to the bullpen. Possibly Zebby but we'll see. I'd listen on trading Ober personally. And after that typically most teams use at least 11 pitchers to make at least one start in a year, so the more the merrier.
  17. I don't know that I agree with all of your deals, but something like Ober for Lawlar would be a lot of fun and would make sense on both sides.
  18. A couple of things... 1) The Twins could still extend Jeffers. That's not crazy to say out loud 2) If not extend, they could always offer the QO after this season. 3) Who knows if there will be a 2027 season? Certainly who knows if it will run on time. To me, this doesn't feel like something that HAS to happen right now. And having Jeffers for the full 2026 season (especially with how he can help mentor the younger pitchers on the pitching staff in terms of experience) is most likely more valuable than a B level prospect they would receive playing at Cedar Rapids.
