  1. Who is this guy? Just curious
  2. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/816670223268974592 Jon Morosi says there should be resolution in the next week or so.
  3. I haven't written in the thread for a few days; is there anyone really on either side that is saying it is a 1 for 1 offer with just De Leon? Where did this come from? Every Dodger writer/offer I read online has it at LEAST a 2 for 1 trade, and maybe even 3 for 1 depending on the players. Where is this 1 for 1 stuff coming from? And yes, I'll admit, this thread is a little tl;dr for me at times. But I haven't heard that this is even a possibility.
  4. Ok if you are like me, you are fatigued by thinking about a potential Brian Dozier trade. With that said, there are still other moves to be made. Brandon Warne, with Mike Berardino, in their latest podcast mentioned Luis Valbuena as a potential free agent fit for the Twins. Potential DH (he hits righties well) and someone that could play 3rd base in a pinch if Sano is unable to really hold down the fort there, or needs a day off once in a while. He just turned 31 at the tail end of November, so next year he will be 31 all season. He also started to become a solid player when he was working with new Twins hitting coach James Rowson with the Cubs. Last year (in 90 games) he hit 260/357/459 with 13 homeruns, 40 rbi and a 12.9% walk rate, alone with a 23.7% k rate. He was slightly below league average defensively, according to Defensive WAR, and above average offensively. His last year with the Cubs, 2014, he hit 249/341/435 with 16 homeruns and 51 rbi, and a 11.9% walk rate and a 20.7% k rate. Even in 2015, with the Astros, he hit 224/310/438 with 25 homeruns and a 10.1% walk rate and a 21.5% k rate. Yes he has some warts (the k rate is sort of high) but he gets on base, has some power and can play a passable 3rd base, all the while only being 31 and also being available for just money, not prospects. Their other point was, Vargas has been pretty bad so far this year in the winter leagues, and he has an option year left in 2017. Park is coming off of wrist surgery, and it's hard to determine what you can depend on him for a full year in 2017. Valbuena is an accomplished veteran who has a history with the Twins hitting coach, and would be a solid veteran in the clubhouse. They figured he would be the primary DH against righties, pairing with Robbie Grossman as the primary DH against lefties, and then Sano and Mauer (etc) could fill in at DH occasionally. Thoughts?
  5. Why would Dozier sign a 1 year 11 million dollar extension when he is worth WAY more than 11 million per season? Don't you think, if he is signing an extension, it is for minimum 3-4 years? And he shouldn't ask for a hometown friendly discount, and the Twins shouldn't be shooting for huge discounts anyway.
  6. Maybe he is, which would be great. Question; if he does have a great first 4 months of 2017, do you offer him a contract extension? And if so, what years and money would you offer? Mind you, you would be offering him an extension for his age 32 and older seasons, starting the first year of free agency.
  7. That's the rub how I see it, the Dodgers need to decide how MUCH regression they are in store for with Dozier. If everyone believed that he was about to really turn a leaf and be a 30+ homer/900 OPS threat for the next 5 years, this deal would be done already too. I don't think he falls off a cliff by any means, but it's hard to predict the future in this case.
  8. Curious if the bullpen will be upgraded simply by switching out Duffey for May. Also, any chance a free agent arm (Drew Storen?) is added? Will be interesting to see if the starting rotation can pitch long enough into games (on average) so the bullpen isn't overused this year.
  9. I've gone WAY past the fatigue portion. I don't know if I am at denial yet, but I certainly want it all to end at some point here asap
  10. But, he is a top 100 prospect. None of us have seen him play, and all we can go by is the scouting report and stat line. He hit a LOT of homeruns in a hitter friendly league with an ops that wasn't great (with the number of homeruns involved) and has below average ranks on defense. Still, if he is part of the trade, who is to say that he couldn't become a good player with the twins, and/or used to get a different player at a different time?
  11. But he is an asset that they could use or trade too
  12. De Leon and Stewart and Will Smith and Sierra sound good to me. Let's make it happe
  13. I'm hoping for De Leon, Stewart and another prospect by this time next week
  14. Grew up in Cottage Grove, MN, lived in Massachusetts for a minute and now live in St Paul. 35 Since as long as I can remember, but I didn't become a hardcore twins specific fan until I was maybe 12 or so (more a ninja turtles fan before that point to be honest.) "And we'll see you tomorrow night!" Always gives me chills, but just as much I have loved every spring training and minor league trip I have made to see players and the teams. Brad Radke, Corey Koskie, Joe Mauer, learning as much as I can about Harmon Killebrew. Non twins; Buck O'Neil, Roger Clemens (pre cheating allegations) Lou Gehrig (or moreso hearing stories about him with my grandpa) and arguing Griffey is better than Bonds with my cousin. I came to twinsdaily because I loved reading Seth's site and Aaron Gleeman's. I've loved getting to read more information because of this site, and in the past year I have started to comment some too. Daily, multiple times daily. Talking about baseball and the twins is a passion of mine, and a good release from real life once in a while. I appreciate having this site for many reasons
  15. DaveW started the post with JDL and Alvarez. I haven't seen it elsewhere either, but he has been gun ho with who is available since posting her 3+ weeks ago.
  16. You are right. That said, I like that he threw over 180 innings last year between AAA and the majors and wasn't a complete mess. He has some warts, but he was solid in 2016 overall, at least I think.
  17. Yeah, but that's true with every prospect
  18. Wouldn't Archie Bradley look good in a Twins uniform too?
  19. Folty, to me, looks like a potential star. What am I missing? Check out his game by game logs from last year.
  20. I can't imagine there is an actual deadline. Just because Lavelle Neal wrote it in a column doesn't make it true.
  21. But, the Twins aren't unique in this sense.
  22. I'd love De Leon and Stewart, and Buehler may be a good piece, so if they love Buehler I could also see the argument for he and Stewart. But, I have a hard time seeing a deal come together without De Leon, if even like you say, he is a tad over rated (with the shoulder) and Stewart under rated (which I agree on the latter.
