Right now it's a Rockets town because they're good, same with the Astros right now. Before the Harden trade you could get Rockets tickets for $5 and the place was half full. Same with 'Stros, I remember buying $3 outfield tickets and sneaking into the good seats because no one cared. Now that they're good everyone acts like they've been Rockets/Astros fans for life but there were times I couldn't pay these same people to go with me to a game. Texans is kind of another story, tickets are always really expensive regardless of if they're good or not and it's kind of a place to be seen. Again though, lots of people not paying attention and leaving at halftime

I lived in Houston for 10 years. Houston is a huge sports city but they can tend to be a bit fair weather, it's not like the die hard sports cities in the north east. Texans have the largest following and the games really are sell outs, you might be seeing games that aren't competitive, fans tend to leave early for everything. Also a ton of corporations buy up a bunch of seats and give them to employees so a bunch of non fans go. As far as the Astros go the majority of the state doesn't really ascribe to a team. I grew up in Austin and I know a few Rangers and a Few Astros fans but most people just don't really follow any team. Move out further west and practically no one would care.

I want Syndergaard but not even close to that price. I would consider trading Lewis or Kirilloff for him but not both and definitely not Buxton or really any other of our young building blocks players

What if the Mets squires Stroman because the price was so low and they could flip him for better prospects in a few days? We did that a few years ago with Garcia

Freaking Cleveland! How in the world do they keep doing this? They're not crushing everyone, just winning by one run every night!

How did Buxton go 2-4 with 2 doubles and still have a negative value? Did I miss something?

I'd love to do a Stroman/Giles package and then get Smith (especially if the cost is that low). Would be a decent prospect haul for all of those guys but I would be ok with something like Graterol or Larnach, Gordon, Wade, and Gonsalves for Stroman/Giles and the aforementioned Stewart and Colina for Smith. All in all that's 6 prospects for 3 MLers and only sacrificing 1 top 10 prospect. Would it be enough? Not sure, maybe we would have to switch out Gonsalves for a higher rated prospect like Duran or Thorpe to get it done but I think the return is worth it

I'd do that trade for Stroman/Giles. I like Graterol but he feels like an oft injured reliever at this point, I say sell high on him -
By my count Cavaco was the only HS player we signed. Did I miss anyone?

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but Polanco broke his on base streak. I think it was 38 games being on base, something like that

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think he's out of options, the only way would be to fake an injury

Article: Potential Prospect Cost in Twins Trades
twinsfanstreif replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I should preface that I think the Nats are dumb for not trading him because they are clearly not good this year and probably next. By time they might be in contention (which could be 3 years or more) again he is gonna be too old to really be effective, they need to cash in on an older but effective player now rather than getting nothing for him. Just my take- 51 replies

Article: Potential Prospect Cost in Twins Trades
twinsfanstreif replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
While he is older (a la Verlander for the stros in 2017) he has still been immensely effective. Even with the broken nose I'd take him in a heartbeat, he would be a huge upgrade for us. For some reason the Nats reportedly don't want to deal him which I think is dumb- 51 replies

Article: Potential Prospect Cost in Twins Trades
twinsfanstreif replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What starters are you proposing? To be honest I'm not sure Mad Bum does all that much for us, he's about on par with Gibson. There's Stroman but I'm not in love with his peripherals, his SO/BB rate is not desirable and his WHIP is higher than Pineda. I'm pretty sure we're not getting Scherzer so who else is left on the SP market? Would Detroit trade Boyd to a division rival? With Pineda on the uptick and 3 solid starters in Berrios, Odorizzi, and Gibson I'm not sure any move for another starter moves the needle enough. I'd maybe trade for Bumgardner but I wouldn't give up a whole lot. Another point was brought up in the Gleeman and the Geek podcast is that Perez has been really good vs Righties and would excel vs predominantly right handed line ups which happens to describe the Astros and Yankees who we will most likely face come playoff time- 51 replies

Most Underrated Twin for me has to be Gonzalez. His super utility-ness has provided the much needed rest that all the other players are getting and on top of that it's not really a drop off when he comes in, he frequently plays the hero offensively and defensively. I think he's one of the major reasons we are a good this year as we are

There really is no let up in our line up, seriously 1-9 can all hurt you in a number of ways even on days like today when we have 2 bench players starting. Crazy to think about, long gone are the days of Juan Castro/Drew Butera/Matt Tolbert/Terry Tiffee in the line up like a Black hole, these guys can all rake! But seriously, let's figure out this bullpen thing. It's a little silly at this point. At least the starting rotation has been stellar

Midseason 2019 Minnesota Twins Top 15 Prospects
twinsfanstreif commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
It seems like they almost have to trade one of Kirilloff or Larnach for pitching. I wonder which one (if not both) will go. I hate to speculate like that but especially with Wallner in the mix now and 3 outstanding young MLB OFs it seems like it would be a waste to keep them both, not just for us but for their own careers. If I had to bet I would say Larnach. If Kirilloff can stay healthy he could be like a Bryce Harper type of hitter and that seems like too good of a thing to get rid of- 16 comments
