  1. My take aways from this is there were quite a few of those that were no doubters and he like to hit dead center a lot. Not sure what to make of that but it looks like his numbers were not a result of a few lucky balls sneaking over the fence
  2. It was more of a tongue in cheek comment. I actually like the move (and the previous move for Odorizzi). I think I would have preferred a 3rd baseman like Frazier or Moustakas and moved Sano to DH, I just don't trust his leg or body to hold up at 3rd but obviously the Twins do. This signing is a steal in my eyes for that kind of money
  3. Man, we really like the 2017 Ray's who went 80-82.....
  4. My big question is why? To me he isn't an upgrade over Majia or even Gibson, he's more of a 4/5 guy but if we signed him he would only block Gonsalves, May, and Romero from getting any sort of meaningful time
  5. also some of Reed's ERA problem in Boston was due to Fenway (and a little bad luck). His HR to fly ball rate with the Mets was 9.4%, it was 20.8% with Boston. He is a typical FB pitcher and that will play up well at Target Field especially with Buxton around
  6. Why not? the Royals had a $140 million payroll last year which was the 15th highest payroll, smack dab in the middle of the league. Right behind them were the Rockies, Indians, and Astros with the Cardinals one spot ahead. The Twin Cities market is above all of those markets except Houston. I know the Pohlad's are notoriously cheap but windows can be short in the MLB and it looks like we are set to compete for at least the next few years. Also Levine/Falvey have made comments alluding to having a bigger budget this year so who knows
  7. Kinda weird that now we have an excess of good middle relievers. Interested to see what they do, I'm assuming May starts in the minors but what do you do with Duffy or if several of our minor league guys start knocking on the door? Also what if May looks really good coming back? I know it's a good problem to have but it will be interesting to see if they just hold those guys down or trade some of them. I'd be perfectly fine with our roster if we can come out with 1 more starter (preferably Darvish or Cole) but I'd maybe like to see an upgrade at DH as well, unless Sano has to shift over to DH and then we could sign Frazier
  8. I have become more optimistic of the new Twins FO but as a seasoned Twins fan I am prepared to come away with something like Kintzler and a low to mid level starter if anything at all
  9. Didn't MLB.com have him as the Mariners #10 prospect? Now he's not even in our top 30?! Is our system that good or is the M's system that bad? I think they had Pearson ranked quite a bit higher in the Angel's system too
  10. I agree that NY seems like the obvious choice but let me throw in some factors you didn't mention. NYC's cost of living is significantly higher than in Minnesota and taxes are also considerably higher, their advantage in money is negated almost immediately because of that. Plus sponsors will most likely come from Japan anyways so the market of the city won't matter that much anyways. Also Otani is from the small city of Oshu which is around 120k people (roughly the size of Rochester, MN). He currently plays on a team in Sapporo which is around 2 million (roughly the size of Kansas City) but no where near the 20 million of New York (metro). That might not be a factor at all but some people, especially when they're from a small town, want nothing to do with a city the magnitude and density of NYC. Is that the case here? I have no clue but you never know.
  11. Dang, our system must be super deep if these guys are the 41-50 prospects! These guys are all super talented and could make an impact at one point or another, not just a bunch of no name "will never make it to the majors" type of guys
  12. Gotta be Lewis, the ceiling alone is massive and puts him in the potential superstar range, no one else really has that kind of potential.
  13. Yea, this is seriously huge! He is a heavyweight in the industry. Will be very interesting to see what he brings to the table
  14. Anyone know what the extent of an injury like that is? Is that a career ender, season, or could he get back in 3-4 months? I have no gauge for that kind of thing. Heartbreaking for him and that team though
  15. It would look a lot better without all of those Yankee's fans, they make it look bad
  16. I kinda wish they would've kept him out there, he was doing really well for us
  17. Yeah Rosario!!!!!!!! That short RF fence is ridiculous
  18. Technically isn't a game in Boston still a possibility? Would that be a better or worse option for us?
  19. This team reminds me of that 2014 Royals team. They were really young and energetic, everyone counted them out, they had to rally from behind in the WC game and went on to the WS beating a high octane offensive team in Baltimore and a solid Angels team on the way. Nobody thought they'd go very far and they almost won the whole thing. Now that team was built on pitching, defense, and bullpen where our team is more about the line up and defense but I'm hoping our team can take that next step. In any case this has been a really fun year, probably the most fun I've had as a twins fan since 2006! Gleeman's Tweet perfectly sums up my feelings
