  1. So our top pitching prospects on the cusp of the big leagues both have ERAs well above 6.00? Oh brother. And, just out of curiosity, why are they having Vahn Lackey steal so many bags? Seems like a great way for a promising catcher to get a busted thumb or some torn hand ligaments. Seriously. So he's got speed on the basepaths, so what? Not what we need from a backstop.
  2. You're not wrong. Winning organizations don't miss these opportunities to improve. The Twins, on the other hand, never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
  3. I liked your post. I thought it was thoughtful. The "thumbs down" is just a disagree. They certainly did not decide to complete the tear down and rebuild. That would have involved selling high on players who won't be a part of the future and restocking the system with high-end talent. Instead, they got older, lost talent this year and took on contracts that can't help them when a rebuild might come to fruition. If that's their plan, then it's the kind of plan that should get all involved fired. I don't think people realize how impossibly tight their margins are for a potential postseason run next season. They're losing their team MVP and betting heavily on zero sophomore slumps and full health recoveries from some of their most prominent players in the last year of their contracts. There are no high-upside arms waiting at AAA at this point. It's all a very risky bet, but it's certainly not a serious plan to build a winner here.
  4. Fun win, but a 3-2 nailbiter against a team that will lose close to 100 games - all with our best starter, best reliever and young core in the game - doesn't exactly fill me with championship hope next season. Based on these two series, I'd say we're just about as good as the Angels and Giants. Which isn't great company.
  5. Sorry, I'm not going to call Emma Rodriguez "Sparkle." Or "adorable." This is a grown man and I'm not his girlfriend. Or his mother.
  6. Here's one question I have: if the the MLB work stoppage lasts as long as some suspect, will that impact players in their thirties? Hoffman is 33 now. It's possible he won't pitch again for the Twins until he's 35. Does body age matter for ballplayers, or will a year free from big league wear-and-tear leave them pretty refreshed and in much the same place that they left off?
  7. Perfectly stated. Add in the fact that Twins' rookies don't seem to make the jump to the bigs all that quickly and you potentially have a situation where you lose high-end talent - and they ultimately end up putting their skills together elsewhere. What the Twins lost by "going for it" is incalculable at this point. It's not that they can't win in the coming two years, but the margin for error is almost nonexistent. Everyone has to be healthy. Every prospect has to be ready. Every free agent - if they even sign any - has to produce.
  8. That's been the team's speciality since August 1st.
  9. Well, that was quick. Better luck tomorrow, Twins and Sabato.
  10. To my eyes, Twins batters seem to go for too much stuff low and out of the zone. I wonder if that's a real thing, and how they can work on it.
  11. This stadium is already 26 years old? That's nuts. Still seems like a brand new park to me. I made it to Camden Yards and PNC with my father some years ago. We didn't get to San Fran, sadly.
  12. Jeffers also does go through some long, unproductive stretches, doesn't he?
  13. Kody does go through some long, unproductive stretches, doesn't he?
  14. Same here. Maybe they should only start him at Target Field next season.
  15. I'll assume you're joking. If you're not, well ... I'm curious to see how long it will take Tom Pohlad to land on this ridiculous excuse, too.
  16. Call Toronto or Tampa Bay and just ask them if - all things being equal - they'd want one or both on their 40-man roster. Then keep whichever ones they say they'd want.
  17. Hey, this is great. Even if he never gets back, at least he made it. Maybe he hits 3-5 HR in the last six games and creates a little reputation for himself that he can carry forward.
  18. "We asked ourselves, why bring in expensive free agents? What more did this team really need? As you all remember, we were in contention into the final week of the season last year." Tom Pohlad, probably sometime in January 2027, explaining why the Twins did nothing before the CBA expired.
  19. Well, this solved the Kremer vs. Ober debate. Keep 'em both, pitch 'em both on the same day. Instant shutouts.
  20. Relentless competence is probably good for business.
  21. Pfft. I say, sit back, relax and just enjoy watching Gomez in the late innings.
