    Ryan and Woo have very similar top-line stats. Both seem to be qualified IMHO. Some pitchers will opt out or be disqualified by pitching on Sunday. I would hope that Joe is the first pick as a replacement.

    The Twins got Bader for a bargain price, much like they got Carlos Santana in 2024. He'll almost certainly decline the mutual option if his numbers hold and expect much more money (and more years) to stay. There are a lot of good things about Bader, but the club needs offense and he's over 30. Julien has put up about league average numbers at St. Paul, with peaks and valleys. The current Twins really don't have a place for him to play unless he would take over first base where he would be pretty raw defensively. I don't think he has a role with the Twins going forward. Miranda has been a total mess at St. Paul. He's playing a fair amount of first base, but he's barely above the Mendoza Line at Triple A with minimal power. There is no way he can or should be promoted.

    Good for Buxton. He deserves the All-Star bid. I'm not surprised that Joe Ryan didn't make the team outright, but I think there's a better than 50-50 chance he makes the team by the time they play the game.

    Wow, the hitters in Wichita had a game! That is a really solid lineup for the Surge. Some of those guys will need to move up. Based on this year's stats, Winkel is a better hitter than Camargo or Cardenas for that matter. How is his defense? I don't see him talked about as a potential big leaguer. I like to see LH hitting catchers. Speaking of catching, I noticed Olivar was behind the plate on defense while having a memorable day as a hitter. Is there a chance he can stick behind the plate?

    Adding a guy every year to play a role is a good idea, but the core has to carry the load. Looking at the players the team carried over from ‘24, there’s little progress and a lot of stagnation. That is why they are below .500.

    As of today (July 6), it seems that every player except Keirsey is a possibility to start against a right handed pitcher. Lee hasn't started for two consecutive days, Clemens started a day at first base and Castro has played second. RH hitters France, Bader and Lewis are all pretty much regulars, but could be given a day off versus a righty. Castro can start in the outfield or second base and Lee has recently played a game at short, but has also started games at second and third. We haven't seen a left handed starter since Lewis returned, but it would figure that all the right handed and switch hitters will be in the lineup for a lefty. Who plays DH and which of Wallner and Larnach gets a start seems up in the air. If Jeffers isn't catching, he could be the DH and the Twins could start an all right handed hitting lineup.

    Clemens is a versatile guy with no minor league options. He has provided a bunch of key extra base hits. I really doubt his "clutchness" is sustainable, but as of right now, he has been one of the most positively impactful players for the Twins. I have come to give Wallner his due after two years of seeing struggles and then elite slugging, but the waiting gets hard. He's been difficult to watch for a while. Giving him a reset in St. Paul isn't a bad idea IMHO. Julien has hit maybe a bit above average in St. Paul, but it's not like his numbers demand he get back to the Twins. I know he's played some first and some second for the Saints.

    To win with "small ball", the Twins would need more guys who can execute it. Lee put down a nice bunt and looked like he knew what he was doing and any time Buxton is on third with less than two outs, putting the ball in play can get a run. The Twins don't have many good base runners and only a few guys with plus speed. That makes it hard to hit and run because a swing and a miss means a lost base runner. About the only guys they trust running the squeeze are Buxton and Castro. If they want to play that style of ball, they need to change personnel. Despite only three guys in double figures, they are in the middle of the league in slugging and home runs. That's probably not enough to compensate for their lack of speed and expertise running the bases and only average ability to make contact (16th in K %).

    When the Twins are going poorly, I don't pay much attention to other teams. I was kind of shocked after a 9-18 month of June that the Twins weren't in fourth place. Kansas City and Cleveland. have been struggling big time as well. the Royals were 8-18 in June after winning months in April and May. The Guardians are currently on a nine-game losing streak and are 15 under .500 since mid-May. Ouch. The three followers have all slumped enough that Detroit is easily the most likely MLB to win their division, leading the Twins by a whopping 12.5 games. Also, the Yankees have led the AL East comfortably most of the year, but they've hit the skids as well, losing 16 of their last 22 games to fall into a tie for second, three games behind the Blue Jays. How come the Twins never play the Yankees when they are scuffling? The Twins, Guards and Royals are quite a way back in the wild card. Is it possible all three teams are sellers at the deadline? Remember when four AL Central teams were in the lead for postseason spots? I think it is a near certainty that the Yankees will augment their roster. Maybe the Twins can get an overpay from the New York.

    Congratulations to Adams in making his MLB debut. I doubt he’ll make a big impact, but he’s now a member of the big league fraternity. He couldn’t stop smiling during the postgame interview The losing in this last five weeks as a backdrop, it was hard to see a way for the Twins to claim either of their last two wins, but somehow they prevailed. Kody Clemens has managed to get a lot of big hits and his homer changed the game.

    So, going forward, when does a game get suspended and when does it get called short of nine innings? The Twins had a game suspended against Cleveland and shortened against Cincinnati.

    It appears that the "bulk pitcher" for the Twins will be Travis Adams. Good luck to him in his major league debut.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Keaschall start a rehab pretty soon, but I think he will need a while to ramp up. If he had to break a bone, it's too bad it was his throwing arm because he hasn't been able to strengthen his arm after last year's TJ surgery.

    I would dispute that the Twins have a better roster. The Rays have better team batting stats across the board and they lead the majors in stolen bases. When the Twins' starters are healthy, they might match up favorably with Tampa Bay, but with three guys out of the rotation, I think TB has better pitching as well.

    If you can build a lineup like the 2019 Twins, then Bader could start 140 games, but the Twins haven't had anything resembling an elite lineup since 2021. I believe Bader leads the team in infield hits which has kept his offensive numbers in the plus range, but I doubt his offense is sustainable. Good speed and defense don't slump, so I don't mind him starting a majority of games, but that is a symptom that the club lacks talent.

    Agree that there is value in having a good defender to play defense in the late innings. But Keirsey's struggles at the plate (I'm being kind) really negate his strengths.

    I think the projection as a five-tool guy is why he has stayed as high on the prospect list as he has. He's still really young and there might be a real jump in his numbers in the next twelve months. The Twins definitely need more guys who can win games with their bat, glove and legs. They have carried far too many guys who are bat-first or bat-only.

    When Lewis was on the IL, Brooks Lee was the youngest position player (24), and the second youngest was Wallner (27). That isn't much youth at all, even more than the number of pre-arb players would indicate. The Twins do need to get younger and faster if they want to compete.

    He was wearing that brace when he hit over .300 last season. I think it is a chronic thing for him. Going back a long time, Greg Gagne had back issues which required constant maintenance for almost his entire career and it never overtly affected his career. Correa is only thirty, but it seems he hasn't aged well. The Twins look like they will be getting a diminishing player for the balance of his rich contract.

    Nice to see Jenkins have a big game. I'm sure the Twins would like to see him dominate AA for a month and get a taste of AAA this season. His numbers are OK, but nothing that screams "superstar" so far.
