  1. Bert says that Gibson doesn't have his best stuff. Smart man.
  2. Much better inning for Gibson. He seems to be surviving without his best stuff.
  3. One of those infrequent strikeout thingies would be good here. Edit: Or not.
  4. Not exactly the big inning I was hoping for.
  5. Not a coincidence that the Twins have scored runs the last three times they got a leadoff walk. Now make 'em pay for the mistake!
  6. Escobar DH? Ugh. Also, get Dozier out of the cleanup spot. Can't stand to see that.
  7. Dozier is a good lead-off guy. He works counts and draws walks and there is nothing wrong with a lead-off homer. Today, I'd make the lineup: Dozier, Hunter, Mauer, Vargas, Plouffe, Arcia, Suzuki, Schafer/Robinson, Santana.
  8. Trevor Plouffe is a major league regular. He will make enough money to be comfortable for the rest of his life and probably will never play in the minor leagues again. Schafer and Robinson are not guaranteed to be in the major leagues for the remainder of this season or any time after that. Quite a difference IMHO. No, Trevor won't stand in the way of Sano for long, but he could well be a starter in the majors for another five or more years.
  9. Thanks for preaching the gospel of Small Sample Size. Well said. The walks and strikeouts stand out to me. So far in 40-plus PAs, Rosario has two walks and 14 Ks. Hicks has 5 walks and 12 Ks. Meanwhile in Chattanooga, Buxton has one walk and 13 Ks. Schafer in fewer PAs (30) has one walk and 10 whiffs.
  10. Shane Robinson has had 15 at-bats in 11 games, and that includes a high percentage of left handed starters. He's an okay fourth/fifth outfielder much like Jason Repko. The three starters haven't hit much, but there is a reasonable expectation that Hunter and Arcia will. So far, Schafer has been poor, and that isn't much of a surprise. His potential replacements aren't tearing it up in Rochester.
  11. Arcia drives me crazy sometimes. One moment he's pumping his fist and the next he seems lost. I said on another thread that he seems to have "baseball ADD". He can't seem to stay focused. He has far to man "no chance" at-bats. Nuñez is also frustrating. He will do something good followed by a huge mistake. The deke on the steal was all on him. As for the "infielders in the outfield" meme, I think both Escobar and Nuñez would be decent with 30 games or so out there. They've both already thrown out a runner and should be adept at charging hits to the OF. With a little experience routes on fly balls could improve as well. Jordan Schafer hasn't covered himself with glory so far. However, neither Rosario or Hicks is lighting it up in Rochester at this point.
  12. There aren't many games lost when your team hits a grand slam. To have the top two affiliates both get them on the same day and both lose is pretty rare. Esobar's throw was perfect--an easy hop for Herrmann to catch and then block the plate, right on the money. BTW, did anyone think Herrmann applied the tag too high and maybe the runner got in? On Escobar (and less so) Nuñez playing the outfield, with a few more games under their belts, I think they can be OK to pretty good. Nuñez clanked an easy fly ball in his only start, but he has pretty good range and you'll remember he threw out a runner in that start, as well. Both guys know how to charge balls and make good throws. Where they would suffer is getting breaks on fly balls and going to the wall.
  13. Tito has a lot of bullpen moves to make. If Shaw walks Dozier, he'll probably go with a left vs. Vargas.
  14. Don't agree with that take. No guarantee that Rosario would stay on the team anyway.
  15. Infielder in the outfield makes a fine play.
  16. I'd say Pinto, Rosario, and then Hicks.
  17. Cleveland needs help against LH pitching. I know, I know, no Gomes.
  18. RBI machine Mauer will plate the lead run. Or not.
