The thing is you need two successful components to "get 'em over, get 'em in". The White Sox have been able to advance runners to third, but not get them in for this series. The Twins have failed to get them over.
Smeltzer DFAed after pitching long relief last night and another former Twin, Chi Chi Gonzalez, had his contract selected to take Smeltzer's place on the active roster.
Meh start. Hardest hit ball was by Kepler???
Bremer has given more information on Buxton's health than any other source. Today's nugget was that some days Buxton is full speed some days, but there are other days where he isn't and on those days he won't attempt any stolen bases.
Two dives that I recall this year and neither worked out--Larnach dove for a ball that he totally missed and it went for a triple. Taylor dove for a ball that went off his glove and he lobbed it to the cutoff man and the hitter moved on to third base (went as a triple).
They've been epically bad with the sacks juiced. I remember one hit--Kyle Farmer's walk-off 10 hopper up the middle, apparently there are a couple more. Also, so many strikeouts.
Varland needs better command in the strike zone. He's getting way too many balls over the heart of the plate, not just the fastball, but the off-speed stuff as well.
