  1. He's a ballplayer, period. SS, I'm not sure, but a ballplayer.
  2. Homer, K, BB. Finally Plouffe puts a ball in play.
  3. Quick, Van, get these over to the Game Thread, pronto! Run, run! http://therunnerdad.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Running-with-scissors-280x134.jpg
  4. Yeah, check out the reaction (including the sidelong glance at somone off-camera) from the co-host, Mika Brzezinski, during Joe's lead-in to the assertion. I read it as he had discussed it with her, but she didn't think he was going to go ahead with it without further vetting. "Really? You're going with this? Buckle up and strap in...."
  5. That was in fact the advice a hitting instructor gave to our 8 year old son, who had become afraid of the ball after being hit (square in the back, leaving marks of the stitching ) by a pitched ball. He told him the best way to deal with a pitch right at you is to put the bat on the ball. I had never heard such advice and was skeptical. It probably contains a kernel of truth, but I think most people still are best served to dive back.
  6. With a BABIP of .232 in Ft Myers, maybe he got good marks from the coaching staff for well struck balls that didn't fall in?
  7. And is deemed so valuable that he still is a Mud Hen, despite a starting catcher on the major league squad OPSing under .600.
  8. A good start would be for Reynaldo Rodriguez and Carlos Paulino to have no more plate appearances this season. Give Garver as much time behind the plate as possible, and he and Murphy alternate at DH (since the glove is not what's holding back the latter player).
  9. This kind of thing never happens when I am the grand poohbah of an organization in Out Of The Park baseball game on my PC. I maintain a complete backup team at AAA consisting of experienced five-star young studs, just waiting for an injury in the majors so they can get their chance, and they are grateful for the minor league money.
  10. Certain body parts, at my annual physical. / why yes, I do pay extra for this service, thankyouverymuch
  11. Did this one get discussed yet? http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/290217-scarborough-trump-asked-about-adviser-about-using-nuclear Watch the entire two minutes, and enjoy the silence and the looks of genuine horror by the panel in the second minute. "Oh wow". (Trump's staff says there is no truth to this story.)
  12. Welp, got a big day tomorrow, so I need to call it a night. Figure out a way to bring this win home for me, willya?
  13. TD. Come for the Ingmar Bergman references (at least I think that's what that one was), stay for the Heckle & Jeckle!
  14. I can't remember anymore what I just typed five minutes ago. And I can't read this one either. So, can't help you there.
  15. Pro-tip: sprinkle the occasional "amirite, fellas?" into your next Battle Of The Sexes essay. I'm sure ChiTown will shake your hand next time you see her. / shake your hand, until it comes off
  16. Teh Googlez is your friend. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=amirite
  17. I have no idea. I look up at the Gameday feed, see there's the homer, hit refresh on the TD page, see nothing about it there, so I post, and then above my post are messages from 5 minutes earlier. It's messin with me, I tell ya.
  18. Especially for Nolasco, amirite?
