  1. I regret that I was pulled away and couldn't watch the game. I'd hate to meet the Twins fan who wasn't moved by the highlights I've now caught up on.
  2. Long top of the first. Too many chances to make plays, that didn't pan out.
  3. I see Dylan Covey listed. Oh, and Willians at 3B. Positional Flexibility on display!
  4. I didn't think about it in such terms, but I had dinner tonight at Raising Cane's in apparent prognostication or anticipation.
  5. A place called The DL if I'm not mistaken.
  6. Ha Ha! Is funny, because I am high right now!
  7. He's the AAA catcher called up when Garver had the concussion.
  8. Indeed. The debate over which .700-range OPS guy to DH or play 1B on a given day gets a little old. I wouldn't object as much to a glut of "corner/DH types" if the problem was which .900 OPS to rest that day.
  9. Except we have a rightie who needs reps at 1B against right-handers as well. I will be so glad when the day comes that we don't have a glut at 1B and DH and bad OF all trying to shoehorn into two lineup spots. It might leave room for a catcher to get an extra day in the lineup.
  10. b-r.com, mlb.com and Wikipedia all claim that his middle name is Louis, but I know better. It's De.
  11. I hope the ticket May provides this fan is at the other side of the ballpark from wherever I happen to sit at my next game at TF. His idea is 100% fun. From a distance.
  12. I don't understand the benefit Flake sees between withholding a yes vote in committee, and withholding next week on the floor. If he has qualms about the nominee, this vote moves the nominee a step closer to approval. He must think Murkowski will join him in the demand, and Manchin won't cross party lines; I see Collins as compromised by McConnell's ability to block future pork barrel to Maine for the rest of her tenure (or his). Alaska at least has another Republican senator Mitch must throw bones to. Who said a solid state delegation is a pure blessing to leadership? But Flake's influence was greatest in committee, and he ceded it for some reason. I don't see why he has more to fear by crossing Grassley than crossing McConnell. I try to pretend to understand inside baseball, but I have no real idea about inside politics.
  13. He may need more than that. A complete tear-down and build-up of his mechanics may be in order. Now, I'm no expert on mechanics - I'm only going by the lack of command he shows, and guessing that he needs to sacrifice something in exchange for it. Something's not repeatable in his delivery, so that too many of his pitches are a complete waste of time, such as the fastballs that sail up and outside, causing no shadow of doubt in a batter's mind. It's possible that more control will come at the expense of the already weak sauce that his fastball is, in which case it may be a no-win situation. But the status quo isn't going to work for him, and at his age he's got basically a couple of years to straighten up before he gets buried in the depth charts for any team. He's got passable stuff, so there's at least something to work with.
  14. Well, sure, who's going to be held accountable for anything said way back then?
  15. I appreciate your new avatar, by the way.
  16. And another Inside the Park Double, this time by Tyler Austin! I'm starting to enjoy this.
  17. Technically, Joe's ground-rule double is covered by the regular rules, and should just be called "double". Just as a ball hit straight over the fence is a "home run", not a "ground rule homer". To compensate, I now call what Petit hit an Inside The Park Double. Who's with me?!?
  18. Fortunately they are scoring some points. They may need to continue that.
  19. Ladies and gentlemen, you can tell your grandchildren: you were there to witness a Willians Astudillo strikeout.
  20. Quite right. Here you go: **** **** ************* Let me know the context now. / too bad the site censor software got in the way
  21. You know what they say, the first time through the lineup is always the hardest.
  22. What is the word on the street around Boston on the use of the Openah?
  23. Nick Blackburn would have done better with a better fastball, too. Not sure what it means to be essentially the same, when the coin of the realm remains the fastball.
